The press needs to chill, the baby will be born when it is born. In anycase, I thought this piece was good. An opinion piece from Pilar Cernuda—a serious and seasoned journalist—on the coming babe:

The arrival of the heir
There is a carp mounted before the door of the Ruber, dozens of journalists have given up the "bridge" (holiday) of All the Saints, the television programs and radio have ready their "Special editions", the newspapers have had printed for days their booklets on the birth of the heir and the Royal experts in protocol, houses, heráldica and questions of the nobility know that their mobile telephones can ring at any time because they have offered themselves to give opinion on the son or daughter of the Princes of Asturias.
There is reason for the sense of expectancy, so that the princess of Asturias has more protagonism than Maragall.
It has been more than ninety years since a child has been born in Spain who will be king or queen, because when D. Felipe came into the world it was in no way clear that one day the Monarchy would be restored. And that baby, with all the center of attention upon it, has the focus on his person for still more special reasons: its sex can force a quick constitutional modification, according to some experts, and in addition its birth consecrates the journalist Letizia Ortiz like a princess who has fulfilled her main obligation: to give an heir to the Throne. Although for most of the Spaniards, to whom it did not matter that the Prince married a woman who did not belong to the nobility and in addition she had been through a divorce, what affects them, what moves them, is that with this baby the Princes continue what without question is a history of love written with capital letters.
Although detractors remain their position of criticism is everyday a more and more untenable position, and in some cases that position of criticism is directly related to the income that said position provides them when they defend it in different forums, a position in which they often falsify the truth until exceeding the limits of what is ethically and professionally tolerable.
The boy or girl is born with several breads under the arm but with a question on their forehead. If a boy, all is resolved. If a girl, it will be necessary to make constitutional decisions before a second Infante is born, in case it is a boy. That argument is the one that has been considered in these months and the one that will return to consideration in the days of the birth.
Therefore, what is most important: the succession will be guaranteed, whether the Princes have a son or a daughter. That is to say, after the present heir, D. Felipe, the second person in the line of succession will be that boy or girl that is going to be born and whose sex is know solely by doctor Recansens,
although since the pregnancy of Doña Letizia was announced there have been sources of all the kinds that have assured they know the sex, the test results which supposedly Doña Letizia had been put under, and who have affirmed to have direct testimonies on the baby's state. False. The Princes do not know if they are going to have a son or daughter. The Prince did not want to know and Doña Letizia therefore decided not to know the sex of her baby, as she would not be able to share with her husband that news. They will know when the baby is born, and the doctor who takes care of the Princess is the only person who knows what she is going to bring to the world.
Therefore, what matters, it is that the succession is guaranteed. If it is a boy, the Crown would not be in the center of a debate of constitutional reform. If it is a girl, the Crown does not have to be in the center of the debate, or at least the Royal House does not want it to be thus. It does not seem to them advisable that the constitutional reform is centered on an accepted subject that the Spaniards have perfectly assumed and: all the parties, without exception, gathering almost unanimous feeling of the citizens, are in favor of which the Constitution modifies the prevalence of the man on the woman in the line of succession. But that change requires approval in the Parliament, to dissolve the parliament, to call elections, to approve the modification in the new parliament and next to celebrate a referendum. If the Constitution must be modified in other aspects - Senate, autonomic communities, European legislation, those related to the succession will be included in those modifications, but if it is decided to postpone the reform for political reasons that can escape no one, the desire of the Royal House is that that debate not be opened only because the rights of one infanta or one infante are in play. And we can be sure that if a boy is born after a girl there will be studies of rigorous constitutionalists who will know how to interpret the Constitution so that the girl who was born first can reign one day. It is difficult that somebody would be against an interpretation of the Constitution in that sense.
Therefore, tranquility before the birth. The important thing is that a baby is going to be born, a child destined to reign. And it is important, also, that the Princes take a new step in their moving history of love.
