I'm Catholic and confirmation does exist, in fact you can't get married in the Catholic Church if you aren't confirmed.

:previous: Confirmation is one of the Church's seven sacraments. I have a friend whose fiance had been baptized but never confirmed.

He was required to undergo preparation and receive Confirmation before the wedding.

"Princess Elisabeth (19), who is following a year of army training, is at summer camp in Arlon. During this theoretical and practical training, the student officers hone their military skills/techniques. We can follow her this morning. Elisabeth's platoon arrives here"

"Time for breakfast!"

"In a tent like this - but elsewhere on the domain - Princess Elisabeth sleeps during the summer camp of her army training in Arlon. They are individual tents. The camp started on Monday and will last until July 30. At the end you will see the tent on the left where she is now having breakfast."

"Time for the flag salute. "

"Princess Elisabeth in the army: “I am used to getting up so early (6am, W.D.). I had to adapt 'a lot' here, but I enjoyed it immensely. I have met fantastic people, gained many new experiences. I hope to see you again on July 21st”"

Sounds as if she will leave her summer camp (that runs until the 30th!) to attend the national day ceremonies. So, she remains 'different' even though they try to treat her as if she is not.

I don't buy she is not 'different'. Other cadets don't get a photo-op on their summer camp for instance.

Besides she is not career military anyway. Her one-year training, useful though it may be to her in future, is mostly box ticking in her long list of to-do things as heir to the throne.

Oh really, how odd,you can read her mind..

She will march in the parade for the first time tomorrow.

:previous: I do not see how mind-reading is required. If she intended on a military career she would complete the entire program rather than departing after the first year, and, in any case, the expectation in Belgium is that the crown princess will be a full-time working member of the royal family rather than taking up a career.

I agree, her career in the military is about symbolism and solidarity, and a key step in her royal career. Hers is certainly not a "normal" military career at all. Therefore, I see no issues in her leaving to attend National Day celebrations for the day.

The students of the military academy march in the parade every year.

I'm looking forward to see her today, I hope she won't have to wear a mask.

Thanks for clarifying that. I was confused by some of the previous comment as I always think both the summer camp and the parade at national day are parts of the military training.

Well done to the princess. I hope she learned a lot and made new friends.

Very well done to Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant on the completion of her year at the Royal Military School.

Congratulations to Princess Elisabeth and I hope she enjoyed this year at the Royal Military School.
What is she going to do next?

Wow, not a lot of people can do that ! By the way she really looks like her father.

The frequently, by me, quoted Belgian journalist Wim Dehandshutter writes on twitter that Princess Elisabeth is most likely to attend "a top foreign university". Her father, King Philippe, went to Stanford. He also writes that an announcement from the Palace regarding Elisabeth's plans is expected in the near future.

Do you know that Prince Philippe had no universty Degree at all and that 29 travels were needed for he may go to Stanford.

I did not know that. He spent two years at Stanford University in the USA, where he graduated with an MA in Political Science.

Well done Princess!! All heirs should undergo similar training in my opinion.

Congratulations to Princess Elisabeth! I bet it was a very exciting experience, one she will never forget! Can't wait to know what she'll do next ;)

I read some source on Twitter (sorry I don't remember which one) that Elisabeth is said to be willing not to go too far away from her family. So she will either stay in Belgium or move back to UK again.

Anyway I am truly impressed by Elisabeth. She joined the Académie Militaire because she had to, it was expected because of her position, yet she seems to have enjoyed it and has not received any favouritism. I mean, she was climbing rock and doing the death ride. I could never tbh...

If there is a Belgian state visit to the UK in the next 3 years and Princess Elisabeth is a student there, would she be invited to the state dinner too?

And following up on that question: May we see Elisabeth at some official functions that involves Belgium, while she is there?
That is exhibitions, trade delegations, humanitarian issues, official visit (not only a possible state visit) by Belgian royals, where she may join in etc.

ADDED: Being an adult heir, I suppose she may drop by the BRF for an unofficial cup of tea. That would be to expect I think. Charles and Camilla or William and Catherine?
