Prince Hashem of Jordan and Fahdah Abunayyan: 15 April 2006

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Queen Noor was present at Prince Hamzah's nikkah and so were many other family members so I dont know why she'd not be present at Hashem's.
If she was then im sure the articles would've mentioned her name as the mother of the groom.
Maybe they're all waiting until the official wedding reception. Im sure then we will see all the members of the family as well as other guests (hopefully from other royal families)

what took place in riyad was nikah or melkah as it is called in Saudi Arabia, which is the religious ceremony and i think it it is the official wedding in SA, it is normally or traditionally attended by men only and as far as i'm aware of ,the bride and groom signatures were witnessed by kA and the emir of riyad, QN was not there she might be coming for the big party planned very very soon in riyad for female guests the wedding ceremony might take place in jordan later and will most probably be hosted by KA himself, i'll keep you informed

so maybe thats why Queen Noor wasn't there nor were other females from the JRF. They were most likely just trying to respect Saudi custom.
Because in many other Muslim countries, the nikkah is attended by men and women. As in the case of Prince Hamzah, Princess Haya and Prince Ali's nikkah ceremonies when all their male and female relatives were present.

Maybe Queen Noor was there, but remained with the women of Fahdas family. Maybe it just wasn't reported that she attended.

Is the Nikah a traditional African ceremony or is it an Akrikaans ceremony?

It's neither African nor Africaans it is islamic pure and simple performed and blessed just like a church wedding by a cleric and yes it is because of it taking place in Saudi Arabia no photos were published to respect their customs and QN and most members of both families will definetly be at the wedding celebration and be it in Amman we will definetly be seeing many photos.

Nice picture of Hashem. Congratulations to him and his wife.

EL Jood, where did you go? We are all waiting for the big news announcement and/or picture! Can you at least give us a description of the girl since you know her cousin? Shukran.:D

Hi, I'm obviously new in this forum, just wanted to say congratulations on Prince Hashim's wedding. I initially thought it was just an engagement lol
I am also wondering why they didn't mention Queen Noor's name in one of the news articles pertaining to Prince Hashim's wedding, was it because she never really attended the said ceremony? Wierd  Princess Fahdah is indeed one lucky princess. :)

For the members of this forum who are of the Islamic faith you will have to excuse my ignorance but I do have some questions concerning Hashim his wife and garments.

1. Could someone please tell me the name of the headdress that Hashim is seen wearing and what is it symbolism? Is Hashim very traditional?

2. I have seen news clips etc.. of Saudi Arabia and the women are wearing a full black covering but I have not seen this worn in other Arab countries. What is this covering called and is it an religious or cultural symbol? Does Hashim's new wife wear this covering, is she very traditional?

Hi Christo's girl, to answer your questions what Hashim wears on his head is two parts the piece of cloth is called shemagh and it comes either in white, red and white or black and white and maybe other colours and this depends on country or tribe ,as for the black cicular part this is called Eqqal pronounced as Eggal, it realy is tradional in some Arab countries like the gulf region and Jordan , Palestine as well as parts of Syria and Iraq and maybe other countries, it is worn in Arab countries rather than islamic cos it is unheard of in Turkey or Indonesia for example.
AS for Saudi women and in many gulf states this is called Abbaya it is again mainly cultural and many saudi women don't wear it abroad unless they actually wear islamic Hijab which is basically the head scarf.
Hope this cleared the confusion as for Hashim's wife she and all females in Saudi wear the black Abbaya only there but she is very modern and elegant underneath and elsewhere wait till you see her.
