I had absolutely no idea that was what the ! was for. Good to know.

As far as the Prince, I'm very concerned about hypoxia and brain damage for him.

Scooter, would the fact that he was surround by the snow thereby possibly causing his core body temperature to go down, even just a few degrees, help where the hypoxia is concerned?

The Prince, his wife and whole family are in my thoughts and prayers. I can't even begin to imagine what they are all going through.
 
I guess we will all have to be patient now and wait several days for more of a prognosis from the doctors. When they know something we will hear about it. He is in the best of hands for sure. It will be a horrible wait for the family.
 
Just awful! My thoughts are with HM, Princess Mabel and the rest of the family.

According to the NOS HM and Princess Mabel are rumoured to have left the hospital to join the rest of the family in Lech. But they stress that it is a rumour.
Accordigng to a specialist of the AMC the prince is probably (and most people with simular accidents) is kept in an artificial coma. After a few days they will stop the medecines and see if the patient will wake up on his own.

The specialist (Ruud Koster) continues that for the first days/weeks after waking up the patients are seem blurry and it will take a longer period before you can say something sensible about the future.

For those members who aren't familiar with the 'Report Post' function, clicking on the black ! in the red triangle [see thumbnail below for its location] and typing in some details alerts the moderation team to a possible problem in a thread. It is more immediate and effective than a PM because the Forum software automatically creates a post in the Moderator's forum where all staff who are online can see it and respond accordingly.

The Report Post function should be used to report spam, obscene, offensive, abusive or overly-aggressive posts and other questionable material which violates the Forum rules.

No new bulletins this morning on the health of the Prince,as was already said and expected yesterday.His condition has not changed overnight.

What did happen,a detail but if confirmed a happy detail,is that the Prince probably does not have a fractured skull.It happens that Claudius Thomé,one of Friso's doctors spoke with dutch lady Jannetje Koelewijn who happened to be at the hospital and who's husband is a neuro-surgeon there.Jannetje Koelewijn happens to be a editor of dutch NRC paper.

According to this the Prince has not suffered other injuries or anything other then being without oxygen for 20 minutes.Resuscitation took quite a while and Friso's body temperature was 32 celsius,which in this case is "good" as with a lower temp the body uses less oxygen so that might be favorable.

Please keep Friso,Princess Mabel and Luana and Zaria,as well as Her Majesty and the entire RF in your thoughts and prayers for days to come.

The NOS site also mentions that HM Queen Noor of Jordan has send a message to Princess Mabel saying;" I think of you and pray for your whole family" .The Hashemite House of Jordan and the Dutch Royal Family are very dear and close friends.


I 'm sure we will not hear anything else but the simular we already had and that is we all.most of all the RF,will have to watch and wait untill a few days from now when a complete and proper diagnosis can be given.

If that is the case, I must say it is a relief of what news has been said yesterday about the situation.
It would be nice if there was an official release what is wrong. I know its hard about the state he is in now but whether or not he has a fractured skull, is he in a coma or in an induced coma instead of getting mixed reports.

he was not buried under 40m, the width of the avalanche was about 30x40m

It's an usual practice of the agencies, when something bad or unusual happens (think of the sudden flood
of digital images after the seperation of Heidi Klum), they present their archives for the illustration in the
print media and don't want to be excelled by the competitive agencies..

Prince Friso is sedated,an artificial coma so to speak which helps to ease tensions and pain Dazzling.That is done in all simular cases.He is as comfortable as possible in this condition.My,I must admit,it chooked me up quite a bit.

I agree your Grace...it has too much of an obituary...maybe that is what some "hope for" I'm sorry to say as they are like vultures to a prey and happy with a "good story" and then cash in on that.

I will not post any of these pics because of the above.

I know it is awfull to wait,most of all in a case like this.But then remember if it is already awfull to us to wait,how awfull the wait must be for Princess Mabel and HM and the other members of the RF in this situation of their dearly beloved one?

I will post,and I'm sure others will do the same,any change or the news that there is nothing new during this uncertain and grave period.That is all we can do,and maybe light a candle for them in the meantime.

What a terrible situation. Hope the prince will recover soon to be with his family again.
 
I am sure the Doctors will wait until they are very sure about this grave period. Why do the Press take pictures of the family now they are suffering so much and have to wait certainly days until I hope better news .
Not easy to be Royals !

Intrusive pictures.No-one needs to see them now and they most of all can do without intrusive business at this point,and out of sheer respect alone one shouldn't even contemplate posting them.My idea in this case.:)

No further updates on Friso's condition except the bulletin that the Prince had a "quite night" but is,as before,fighting for his life.

I am sad there has been no positive update on the Prince's condition this morning. I wonder if the Prince did sustain a head injury and so the medical team will wait for swelling to subside before being able to make a proper prognosis, hence the wait for news.
 
The Royal Family will arrive any minute at the hospital. There is a lot of press. Queen Beatrix just left Lech to go to the hospital.

This morning Prince Willem-Alexander said that the family don't know anything about Friso.
 
Thank you for keeping us updated Lucien. Thoughts and prayers are winging from Dutch ex-pats around the world. I spent the evening with such a family and they too send their prayers for Friso's safe recovery and for the Queen, Fiso's wife and family and the people of the Netherlands, as I am sure do those on the forum.

I appreciate your stance on the vultures. It is a hard enough situation without the intrusion of the media in such an insensitive way. I am sure that WA and Maxima have enough on their hands trying to keep the children occupied and maintaining a sense of "normalcy" that is not helped by their gross insensitivity.

In a brief statement the Prince of Orange thanked the press for all the attention but stressed they rather wished to be left alone at this point.

Alexander said "they know nothing on Prince Friso" we all have to wait and see how he pulls through,that is what the Prince ment to say.

At present the RF has left Lech for Innsbruck.The University has cleared one good guarded entrance where the Royal Family is expected soon.

As a focus point on how the Dutch have been shocked by all this,the late news bulletins on Prince Friso last night got nearly 3 million viewers.

Which is understandable,I really hope that the press/reporters allows the Royal family to be left alone at this dreadful time.
 
This is so so sad, I pray that Prince Friso will wake up and he will be okay.
