Wonderful pics, Ianna. Thanks a lot for posting them for us! I had once seen these scenes at television many years ago, but never saw anything of it again, so it was a great pleasure for me :) The children are so sweet..

Great pics. Thanks Ianna. I can't believe how dark Albert's hair is in the first took pics. I love how casually Prince Rainier had his arm around Albert's shoulder. Very relaxed and natural for a father & son.:)

Yes, it is Maria Callas. She was friend of family, especially Grace's.

gosh , I didnt know that Maria Callas was really friendly with the family, I only thought she new them though her realionship with Onassis, read some where that Raniner was a great fan of Onassis.

The man in the 1st pic with Grace and Caroline is Eamon De Valera - an Irish President.

I don't know where you read that but Rainier was in a fight with Onassis over control of Monaco, especially during the 1960s. Onassis (through his corporation) had bought many of the hotels and casions in Monte Carlo and Fontville. HE was deciding how they were run, who was allowed in and so forth.

Rainier was rather cash-poor (even though he received a few million from Jack Kelly Sr as dowry for Grace) and couldn't immediately buy him and his cronies out. It took several decades and some rather shady money for Rainier to reacquire land in his own country!

Maria Callas was one of Onassis' lovers. Even now, one of the hotel-casinos takes great delight in showing Onassis' former apartment and the secret staircase to Maria's flat above. The suites tour is even in several of the Grimaldi/Princess Grace/Monaco videos that A&E and Biography has done over the years.

Grace was a great patron of music and brought about a resurgence of the Opera Company in Monaco. It was Maria who was friendly with Grace (who was friendly with many performers of different disciplines).

If Rainier and Onassis were in the same concert venue for a performance, charity event or whateve, it was definitely only because their female companions MADE them!

He was a shrewd and calculating businessman. His interests just happened to not agree with Rainier's.

Sorry if this is unnecessary or on the wrong forum -- just have to say that as much as Caroline, Stephanie, and Charlotte are all beautiful and sensational, Grace was simply an exceptional human being and a cut above everybody else, as these photos prove. Keep on posting these magnificent pics, guys :)
 
At one time Onassis and Rainier were great friends until a falling out in the 60's of which direction to take for Monaco. Onassis wanted to keep it a gambling capital for the very rich where as Rainier wanted to branch out into tourism and make it an affordable place for tourists to visit. Princess Grace never liked Onassis but she did like Maria Callas. Rainier underhandedly bought out Onassis shares by creating more shares himself in Monaco and buying them up which now made Ranier in charge. Onassis realizing he was outsmarted by Rainier left Monaco and the 2 never spoke again.
