I'm not wowed by most of them. There's a few I do like though!

Hmm, I think Catherine's lace V neckline was lower than any royal bride I have ever seen, so times might really be changing.

Women with smaller bust lines can get away with more V than others. There's a big difference in Kate in that dress and someone like Eugenie in it! Lord Have Mercy! :flowers:

I really hope so.

I love the shape of this gown (though it would need sleeves): https://s3.amazonaws.com/moniquelhu...ier_-_FW18_-_Look_4_-_Kingsley.jpg?1507308375

And of course the full pic of this Elie Saab: ELIE SAAB - Bridal - Spring 2018

This is gorgeous, but it's too close to Kate's: ELIE SAAB - Bridal - Spring 2018

I could possibly see Meghan doing something with appliques: Maybe: ELIE SAAB - Bridal - Fall 2017

This with a slightly fuller skirt might work - the lace cape is everything... *scroll down just a bit the name of the gown is Liv* Liv | Ines Di Santo

Or this off the shoulder one: Sylvie | Ines Di Santo

Not sure if I like the frilly sleeves, but this reminds me of a Reem Acra design I've always loved: https://amsale.com/bridal/amsale/ball-gown-wedding-dress-silk-chiffon-in-blush-or-ivory.html

I found the Reem one!

ELIE SAAB - Bridal - Spring 2018 This one with different type of lace or top.

https://www.stillwhite.com/73075-reem-acra This one, different color and of course top as you pointed out. Love the texture and movement.

Fine Victorian Natural Pearl and Diamond Tiara Necklace (c. 1890 United Kingdom) from Bentley & Skinner - The UK's Premier Antiques Portal

I found this tiara...maybe it would work on one of these looks too!

One of the few lace dresses I find interesting.

I actually like this.

I like this top.

Love the simple sleek material and slight color...something like this (but no seams) with different embroidery could be amazing.

I am only looking at the bottom of this one...it's the first layered/tiered skirt I've really liked. This could work with less volume..maybe?

Even with all these, it’s hard to find one that ticks all the boxes: not too bare, not too girlish, not too Kate-ish, not too tight, etc. Fun to look at, though, especially if you don’t have dinner to cook! (Which I do)

Done with dinner here so I'm looking.

Yes that's where it is so neat that she has a designer involved. She can really make it her own. Something from this, something from that...see if they work together.

Oooh love the first Romona Keveza! Just not the skirt part. Love the top of that.

I actually like the skirt part because it has a little flare to it. Love the top also.

This (front) reminds me of the Mette-Marit dress with a modern look. This could be a grand dress if done right.

In this film one designer indicated to do a Baroque style dress to co-ordinate with the architecture of St. George's Chapel.

I'd like to see more of the baroque dress just to see it.

I thought that a bride who is marrying for the second time is not supposed to wear a veil, pure white, or something over the top in style. I’m not suggesting she dress like Camilla did for the church blessing, but IMO these suggestions (while beautiful) aren’t entirely appropriate. Has this changed with the times? Maybe since Meghan didn’t have a church wedding the first time around? I wonder...

There are no rules any longer for brides who are divorced and remarrying. It's really up to the bride.

I still think she's going to go with either romantic OR architectural/modern. Something similar to these could be made using bridal whites, etc.. I don't think Meghan would choose color.

Romantic gowns with drama:

I really do love the shape, design and material on the bottom half of this dress. Of course the top half would have to be different (I'm not a fan of it as is, anyway) but this is a look I can see on Meghan. I would love if she went with something similar.

I gasped at the second gown. That. Is. Gorgeous.

We totally agree on this one! I can *see* Meghan wearing it. Not a bit of lace or sparkle on it. Doesn't need it. Someone figure out how to get this pic to Meghan! LOL

I like this Jenny Packham number:

APACHE - 2017 - Collection - Bridal

(The ivory one, although the celadon one is lovely.)

I love the dresses that have the detail and realized that with this being her second marriage this sort of augmentation would be understandable (and fun). :flowers:

Agree regarding the Sheba/Ivory, and I also like (especially) Harmonica/Ivory with Silver Beading. Lara/Ivory is unique (would be lovely). I find so many of the Jenny Packham dresses appealing. I think Meghan should go for a less poofy dress.

Yeah the top could be modified. Maybe a slight slim v neck instead and more coverage on the sleeves.

And of course in a creamy white.

Baroque style dress to co-ordinate

There is not one single 'Baroque' element in St George's Chapel ! In its entirety it is a unified work of Perpendicular Gothic...

Has all the work that's been done thru the years (hundreds of years) stayed true to the style from when it was built?

Amazing how old it is.

The castle chapel was established in the 14th century by King Edward III and began extensive enlargement in the late 15th century.

The period 1475–1528 saw a radical development of St George's Chapel, set in motion by Edward IV and continued by Henry VII and Henry VIII. The thirteenth century Chapel of St Edward the Confessor was expanded into a huge new Cathedral-like chapel under the supervision of Richard Beauchamp, Bishop of Salisbury, and the direction of the master mason Henry Janyns. The Horseshoe Cloister was constructed for the new occupants, Choir, choir school, lay brothers and priests.

St George's Chapel was a popular destination for pilgrims during the late medieval period. The chapel was purported to contain several important relics: the bodies of John Schorne and Henry VI of England and a fragment of the True Cross held in a reliquary called the Cross of Gneth. These relics all appear to have been displayed at the east end of the south choir aisle.

The Chapel suffered a great deal of destruction during the English Civil War. Parliamentary forces broke into and plundered the chapel and treasury on 23 October 1642. Further pillaging occurred in 1643 when the fifteenth-century chapter house was destroyed, lead was stripped off the chapel roofs, and elements of Henry VIII's unfinished funeral monument were stolen. Following his execution in 1649, Charles I was buried in a small vault in the centre of the choir at St George's Chapel which also contained the coffins of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. A programme of repair was undertaken at St George's Chapel following the Restoration of the monarchy [1660], in a style in accordance with the rest.
Further changes were made in the 19th Century for Queen Victoria, but they are beyond the area that concerns the Wedding..
In essence the building was recognised EARLY as a masterpiece, so stylistic changes [even in the interest of 'fashion'], were rejected to maintain its incredible 'unity'.

Do you think she would opt for some "American" or maybe even Canadian designer? Or would she *have* to go all British? I seem to remember Maxima wearing an Argentinian designer, so I wondered if Meghan would be expected to wear something from her native country or a designer/label that is British?

Which neckline style is appropriate for a church wedding?

Not for the wedding dress, I don't think it likely. She might use an American for the Reception dress.

LaRae

Which neckline style is appropriate for a church wedding?

The neckline won't matter that much on smaller bust lines... as long as the shoulders are covered. Women who have smaller busts can get away with a deeper vee (think about Kate's dress). You aren't going to see Meghan's breasts, they will be covered. Same as her shoulders are probably at least her upper arms.
