With our former King Albert II , they are the only the 2 Royals still living who attend(s) (ed) Queen Elsabeth II's Coronation.

We seem to be sliding a little from the point of the thread, 'current events', with the coronation having taken place in 1952 :D

Yes of course , but the King and the Queen of Romania were guests at all the Royal Events since more than 65 years.

Considering it was 63 years ago, and many of those in attendance were older than the queen who is 90 herself, not all surprising not many are still around. But Michael and Albert are not the only living royals who attended.

-Japan: Emperor Akihito attended as Crown Prince
-Luxeumbourg- GD Jean went as hereditary grand duke

then we have some of Philip's sisters' kids
-Max, Margrave of Baden (Theodora's son)
-Princess Dorothea of Hesse (Sophia's) her late sister also attended

Now their frail health do not allow them to do so anymore.

There are very few people 90+, royalty or commoner, who frequent official and social events, so this is not anything unusual. Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, blessed with good health, are among the very few exceptions, although they also barely any longer go abroad, and King Michael and Queen Anne, both in declining health, are entitled to avoid the same and spend their days in their family home in Switzerland, where they are the most comfortable.
As Prince Radu said a few days ago, the Kings health is stable following his cancer diagnosis, but it should not be expected that it will improve much, due to his advanced age.

It is indeed sad that the King and Queen are unable to travel due to their health and advanced age. It would be a long journey between home in Switzerland and Romania and would be arduous for them both no matter how they travelled.

Let's hope the royal couple will be able to return to their official resedence at Elisabeta Palace. Bucharest has very good doctors that can help the King and the Queen.

The King and Queen are comfortable where they are now, and there is no need to wish for a change of location, when there is no improvement to their health to be gained from it, and the stress of travel and in all fairness, the whinging of some supporters in Romania, will not in any way benefit Their Majesties in their current conditions.
They have a comfortable home in Switzerland where they have all their needs met, and where family and friends can visit them in privacy. There's nothing more to ask for under the current circumstances.

King Mihai on October 25 celebrates 95 years:public events program dedicated to King

As the King reaches the milestone age of 95 in only a few days time, I am impressed by the program laid out by the Royal House to commemorate the occasion. The work done by the Crown Princess, Prince Radu and Princess Maria is indeed solid, with a schedule tighter than many reigning families and most, if not all, former ones. Although it is sad that the health of His Majesty keeps him in Switzerland , it's good to see that both Princesses Sofia and Elena will be at his side, while the Royal Family is actively working in Romanian society, preserving the legacy of the King.

"Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Margareta and Prince Radu, accompanied by Princess Maria, is for a few days with His Majesty King Mihai I, the private residence in Switzerland.

His Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses spend together family moments in the days before the great feast of Easter and Holy Week.

King Mihai I is permanently surrounded by an eminent medical team members of His Majesty posted to Switzerland and two Orthodox nuns. His state of health is stable"

Apart from visits from Margareta and Radu, does King Michael have other family members with him? I find it strange and sad if he's all by himself (without family).

On June 26, 2017, CP Margareta and Prince Radu arrived in Switzerland to visit and spend few days with His Majesty King Mihai at his private home.

His Majesty's state of health is fragile but stable. King Mihai is quiet, has soulful appreciation and appreciates the care of his medical team. Along with the King, they are permanently employed by His Majesty's House, detached in Switzerland, and two Orthodox nuns.

But the question remains: why in Switzerland? I am sure the King will have the best care available in Savarsin Castle in his homeland Romania. It is strange that the King, also when in good health, never did opt for residence in Romania.

On 20th July, it will be 90 years since His Majesty succeeded his grandfather on the Romanian throne.

"Yesterday, Princess Elena makes a visit to Switzerland for a few days, where she stayed with her father, King Michael, at his private residence.
His Majesty continues to stay daily under close supervision of physicians, medical staff of various specialties, and in the presence of devoted members of the staff of His Majesty's House, stationed in Switzerland. Two Orthodox nuns continue to be in the private residence, detached by the benevolence of the hierarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
The King is in a fragile but balanced state of health. His Majesty is in a good mood."

"Princess Maria is in Switzerland to be with King Mihai on his Majesty's birthday. His Royal Highness spends a few days at her father's private residence.
His Majesty continues to be under the permanent supervision of doctors, following the usual treatment of recent months.
On Wednesday, October 25th, when His Majesty will be 96 years old, the Royal Family hosts two important events dedicated to King Michael in Bucharest. Crown Custodians will decorate, on behalf of His Majesty, a number of 14 personalities from Romania and Europe at the Royal Palace Hall. In the evening, Princess Margareta, Princess Radu and Princess Maria will take part in the charity concert organized by the Princess Margarita of Romania Foundation at the Romanian Athenaeum. The concert has reached its tenth edition and is organized to raise funds to support the annual Talent Youth program."

"Her Majesty's historic Jeeps returned to the country
The four jeeps in his Majesty's collection, two of which have a historical connection with Romania and the Royal Family, arrived at the Săvârşin Royal Domain last week.
For 70 years in England and then in Switzerland, the four World War II military cars have every story, but they have accompanied King Michael and Queen Ana all their lives."

I am very saddened to read this news. I wish His Majesty and his family courage, strength and comfort through togetherness and their faith at this time.
