King Carl Gustaf attended at the re-opening of the E6 motorway in Stenungsund today.
The stretch has been closed to traffic since the night of 23 September last year, when a major landslide caused extensive damage to the motorway. King Carl Gustaf visited then the place only two days later.

King Carl Gustaf said at his speech among other things:
"Last autumn we got to see surreal pictures from the landslide here in Stenungsund. A 400 meter long stretch of the E6 had been demolished. When I was there, I was greeted by a terrible sight of crushed roadways and destroyed buildings. Thankfully, no one was killed, but the material damage was extensive.
The landslide reminded us how important it is to have a stable infrastructure, especially in areas that are sensitive to geological changes.
It has required hard work, commitment and cooperation between many different actors. I want to say a big thank you to all the engineers, construction workers, project managers and others who have been involved in the reconstruction."
