Arnot worked with the Jordanian government to get clearance for the treatment, and with the intervention of Queen Rania, it was acquired.

King Abdullah II of Jordan has given a plot of land to the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem for construction of a church and retreat center at the Jordan River location traditionally believed to be the baptismal place of Jesus.

"It's a privilege for us to have this gift from His Majesty King Abdullah and at the same time we look at this as a project to build a medium-sized Gothic Church with a retreat center," said Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem Suheil Dawani, who officially dedicated the land on March 28.

Thanks for putting video for us hilal but i am disappointed. I thought the queen would answer herself not put an american exchange student on to 'answer' questions. This guy is PR for Jordan and talking in stereotypes himself. It does not answer any hard questions and lots of people posted good questions on YouTube - you can see if you go to the website. It does not say anything about human rights, religious freedom in Jordan or anywhere else in the Arab world - this video was a 'cop out' and I hope the future ones are better. If Arabs want to get rid of stereotypes of us then we need to put our house in order.

This is not a one-off exercise and the intended plan is that there will be a series of videos throughout the summer months. Moreover having had a quick look on the site it seems her response has gone down very well with many Youtubers.

AMMAN (JT) - The National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA) on Sunday endorsed the national strategy for the elderly, which seeks to upgrade their economic, cultural and social status.


During a meeting chaired by Her Majesty Queen Rania, the council’s board of trustees endorsed the blueprint, prepared in cooperation with the ministries of social development and health, the Jordan Nursing Council and representatives of the private and voluntary sectors.


The strategy, which is scheduled to provide an analysis of the overall situation of senior citizens in the country and seeks to empower them, will be launched this year.

ZARQA - Mouath Mohammad Hanbali woke up yesterday morning not knowing that Monday would be a turning point in his life.
Confined to bed for eight months due to a spinal fracture, Hanbali was in dire financial straits. He could not afford to pay for treatment, or support his family and pay the house rent.
But a visit to his home by a special guest on Monday changed his life and that of his family.
His Majesty King Abdullah paid an unannounced visit to Hanbali’s house yesterday to check on the family after he became aware of their situation

Im actually kind of glad they feature nother perosons because its comes from him rather then qr. Ithink that if she speaks for some one else, it will not make as much sense since she hasnt had that "outside" view that foreigners do.
 
She does need to get the outside POV, but I agree in that I was disappointed that so much of her first response was not "her".

yeah, i was also a bit dissappointed about the first response. why not commenting on any of those important questions that so many people asked or touched some of those topics she mentions at the very beginning? of course the story of the american guy is interesting, but it's just ONE point and may not be representative enough, imo. maybe a more extended response would be much more interesting to hear. i believe this idea has great potential, but the first outcome wasn't in my opinion of its best quality.
 
i just checked the lates video. i think it's so much better than the last one, although perhaps the topic allows (and demands) a bit more time to discuss it in more depth. all she said was extremely interesting, but would mean so much more if they extended on it a bit more.
 
at least she is trying to do something. I never was a big fan of Queen Rania to be honest, but now I admire her SO much and I respect everything she's doing, She is a VERY smart women, the effort she's doing is fruitful, we will be noticing that in the near future,IF she remains the same, I honestly appreciate the stuff she does more than what King Abdullah does. I have met a lot of "Anti Rania" in Jordan but now they ALL appreciate her more and respect her more and more!

Keep up the good work Rania :)

I'd like to point out that this thread is not the place to discuss the socio-political problems in Jordan and the Arab world at large.

This discussion can easily be carried out on Queen Rania's YouTube channel, it is certainly the proper place for it, not to mention the fact that Rania is more likely to notice is over there.

I just saw her latest post an I think it was very good. :flowers: She has a lot of issues to touch on and such a busy schedule it seems, that it makes sense to me to keep posts short, specialy since lot of people perfer short any way. I think it going well especialy with the reponses.
 
there is problems in every country and many more in Middle-east etc,but at least Queen Rania is trying to get somewhere,maybe this is the first steps to address many issues close to her heart,it does take time for change to happen,things doesnt change magically striaght away,lets give her a break!:)

Exactly!

There is NO other high-profile Arab figure out there at this time (with the same international profile) speaking out on these issues, with perhaps the exception of Shirin Ebadi.

Perhaps critics would like to question why?

I have to agree that the change will come slowly. Queen Rania knows the social and political climate in which she works. IMO, she knows that she will have to introduce these changes slowly.
