Crown Princess Victoria held her national day speech in Haga Park. A declaration of love for Sweden's nature - and a call to preserve it.
- I am so grateful for all these wonderful nature experiences, each one of them a memory for life, said the Crown Princess about the province hikes she has done throughout Sweden.
She wore a floral dress by Swedish fashion designer Karin Rodebjer. A dress she appeared in earlier this year, on the trip to Vietnam.
The speech became a tribute to Sweden's flora and fauna.
Something that Victoria got to experience close up during the province hikes she started in the fall of 2017.
- It has been an absolutely magical experience. During these two years I have seen so many pages of Sweden's nature. I have walked on pilgrim paths, in old woods, meadows and towns. I have been skiing over mountains and rivers, paddling, cycling and riding, said the Crown Princess.
- I have learned more about how our ecosystems work and how incredibly fragile they are. I am so grateful for all these wonderful nature experiences, each one of them a memory of life. I have had another unforgettable impression from all the people I met along the way.
- All of you who are committed to protecting and caring for our nature, so that more people can take part of what Sweden often has around the knot, you do a sumptuous job and deserve a warm thanks. Thanks.
- Our society is based on a human view that gives all people equal value and the same conditions for using their rights. All this is easily taken for granted. But it is enough that we look at the news flow to be reminded of the places where brave people risk the lives of the same rights, said the Crown Princess.
She finished her speech with:
- Now I wish you a continued fine national day here in Haga Park, thank you.

The Crown Princess's speeches always read to me as unpretentious and practical but impactful. As always, thank you for the good translations.
I've always liked Princess Sofia. In the beginning she used to get very bad press, I'm glad that has changed for the better.
In Sweden, at least, Sofia Hellqvist received overwhelmingly good press, especially in tabloids such as Svensk Damtidning, from the beginning of her relationship with Prince Carl Philip. The future husbands of his sisters received markedly more negative press.
What happened to all the royal children? Suddenly there is just Estelle and Oscar, what about Carl philip and sophia's children and Madeleine and Chris's?
To add to the answers above, Prince Carl Philip's children are only toddlers, and I am not sure it is expected of them to be involved in official events even when they are of age. The chairman of the parliamentary constitutional committee suggested last year that in order to contain the public costs of the royal house, the roster of working royals should be delimited to children of the king and crown princess and their spouses.
