Video from local news re last couple of days of trip. Report starts around the 6:15 mark.
It was a great visit but not a state visit. A head of state cannot go on a state visit to his own country.I really enjoyed following this state visit. Thank you to everyone who updated and shared the photos, links to sites, and gave insight to all things Greenland and Denmark.
More information: TM The King and The Queen go on accession-related visits in Germany 21-22 October 2024In extension of the early summer state visits to Sweden and Norway, The King and The Queen continue the travel to Denmark’s neighbouring countries until October. Thus, the days of 21-22 October, The King and The Queen will make accession-related visits in the German capital Berlin and with the Danish minority in Schleswig-Holstein. Denmark and Germany are closely linked through strong cooperation across the border when it comes to trade, green transformation and security policy.
I agree! Only 9-10 months into their first year as the royal couple and it has been non-stop (..)A visit to Germany, wow. Frederik and Mary can't be accuse of taking it slow their first year as King and Queen.

I remember when the embassy complex was opened 25 years ago.
Of course there were a lot of embassies, consulates, ministries and what not moving from Bonn to Berlin after the Reunification. Many former East German ministries and similar buildings simply weren't big enough.
In all that the Scandinavian countries decided: Let's be practical. We'll build a whole complex that would serve as both embassy but also a culture/show-case for Scandinavia - and share the costs.
I thought it was the Nordic countries who got together, not just the Scandinavian?I remember when the embassy complex was opened 25 years ago.

Love the photo of the entire group! Billed Bladet has stated they had not joined for a group photo - seems they just took the photo inside instead of outside.25th anniversary of the Nordic Embassy complex in Berlin:

love these! Thanks for posting these. They look fantastic!
Great video of the gala dinner. King Frederik gave a speech at the dinner. If believe he gave the speech in German, as he has done on previous visits. They all look wonderful!
That's great! Lovely to hear. I would think it might be his fourth learned. The photos/videos of the dinner are great! Love seeing all the Nordic Heads of State/Heirs together at an event like this! It appears to have been a great first day of the official visit! Oh and I loved seeing Gustav and Carina there as well!!Yep, his speech was in German. and as before he was praised for his German by the German press.
Always helps to be multilingual.
Would German be his 4th language? Danish, French and English the first 3?

As a german I can testify that his german is very good. I don´t know, of course, if he could follow a discussion, but delivering a speech from a note, as a foreigner, was no problem for him.Yep, his speech was in German. and as before he was praised for his German by the German press.

Not sure this is the case.... Normally, when the Sayn-Wittgensteins are invited for some danish festivities, they speak english!Considering Frederik's first cousin Gustav of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg who I believe he is close with is German, Frederik must have had plenty of opportunity to use his German
Love hearing that! I love the closeness not only of the Scandinavian royals but of the Nordic countries as a whole. Hope they had a great time. Having these connections is so important and the continental royals have always fostered these relationships on not just a diplomatic level but on a friendship and familial level as well! Bodies well for the future of these monarchies and royal families imo.Alexander Stubb, the President of Finland, told today at his press conference in Germany that he and his wife, Victoria and Daniel, Haakon and Mette-Marit and the Presidential couple of Iceland went yesterday evening after the Federal President's dinner to Frederik and Mary's hotel and had an afterparty there.
