Fans of the Sussexes raised $60,000 in honour of Archie's birthday. The girl who organised this gave an interview to Harper's Bazaar and has now revealed that Harry and Meghan tracked her down and personally thanked her and the Sussex fans for contributing to this gift, which has been used to assist children during the Covid-19 crisis.

This is so heartwarming. This is the kind of thing that Harry and Meghan inspire in other people to do. I'm impressed that with the lock downs and restrictions, one person could organize a team and raise $60,000 to help children that need it during this pandemic. It shows the human spirit can do anything they set their minds to doing.

#ArchiesDay is a winner all the way around! ?

Such a great idea. What to give a baby for his first birthday who has everything? Raise money for a much needed cause. Its fantastic that she was able to raise so much. Even for covid, raising money during these lockdowns is not easy at all.

Nice that Harry and Meghan reached out to her. :flowers:

The Sussesexes thanked this girl for a specific purpose, organising the collection of money honouring Archie for his birthday. A sweet gesture. The results of that collection helped children during the Corona epidemic, a great cause imo. The Sussexes also, let's not forget, thanked ALL who had contributed.

What Jessica Mulroney has or has not done is on her. It has nothing whatsoever to do with Meghan or what she might think of the situation. She has made no public statement on it.

Harry and Meghan found out about the fundraiser which did raise $60,000 for children affected by Covid-19 and they felt they wanted to recognize this and thank the person involved. Nothing more, nothing less. The good is recognized and acknowledged and the bad belongs exactly where it is and I don't have to be exposed to it. ?

Several posts have been moved here from the Current Events thread. A number of speculative posts have been deleted and responses edited/deleted.

The heartwarming moment the 95 year old Ghanian WW2 veteran got a letter from Meghan and Harry praising his walking 14 miles to raise money for Coronavirus relief. A wonderful praiseworthy effort and so glad Harry and Meghan acknowledged this. Good on them!

Love this guy and his initiative. And his reaction to the letter was heartwarming. You can tell it meant a lot to him :flowers:

some of the thanks for the archie day fundraiser and the good it did. It seems $15,000 was given to each of 4 charities.

It not only inspired financial donations, but inspired others to get out there donating money and masks.

Excellent news. Meghan really bonded with those ladies and I'm sure they were pleased to hear from her.

It's really lovely that Meghan reached out to the ladies at the Hubb. Several survivors of Grenfell have said COVID-19 is making them suffer more than usual as they can't meet up with their support networks, so I'm sure this call from Meghan was greatly appreciated by the Hubb team.

I am so pleased that these graduating seniors gave this information about their graduation ceremony and how inspirational they found Meghan's speech to be. They seem very proud of her as an alumni of the school and I'm sure she will visit in the future. Their graduation ceremony sounds really lovely!

I like how the school was able to handle the graduation and still give the girls an experience on a big moment.

Its great hearing how Meghan's words impacted/meant to them. You can only guess when you are on the outside looking in.

I'm not sure if it proper to be post here but if not, moderator please delete this. Thank you.

Okay, we know that there's some kind of fandom war between CambridgeFans and SussexSquads (or whatever they want to be called). So, I accidentally saw this thread in twitter about the Twitter account that organised the fundraiser. There's a lot of snapshot there, you can check it yourself.

This account the sussexes contacted to thank not only likes to cyber-bully, she has a dislike for white people and also uses racial slurs towards black women who do not like Meghan.
(...)
When the Sussexes called this person to thank her, did they know that she hates on Harry’s family? Did they know that she openly spews hatred about them every day?

My first thought when I stumble upon this Twitter thread was "Another fandom war(--insert eyerolls)", then I checked and apparently in the above Harper's article included the person's Twitter account that it's indeed the said account. None of media/papers/tabloids has picked this story yet, but you know, last year's Cambridge's rumour also started from Twitter and God knows how they can twist everything.

Now, I know it beyond the Sussexes' control of what their fans (or friends) did/do, but considering it looks like their future plan is something like philanthropist/influencer, I do hope they'll be more careful so their fans/followers/associations will not be their downfall. It's a dangerous water to tread.

I’ll have to find it, but there is a twitter conversation between Richard Palmer and other accounts about this exact topic on twitter

Found it:

(Mm I thought it will show the actual tweet not just a link).

The fact you are even posting a random twitter account who actually posts quite nasty stuff herself is problem. Like interacting with people openly bragging how they bombarded Meghan’s high school cause they dared invited her to speak.

Let’s leave that stuff to Twitter where it belongs.

I agree. It only adds fuel to the fire. The Sussex threads here get heated enough!

I think I’m getting dizzy from all these “friends” speaking “exclusively” about Meghan’s future prospects, it’s like I’m on the dodgems it changes direction so often.

How about we wait for Meghan and Henry to tell us what they’re doing?

I keep asking myself why Meghan and Harry’s “friends” keep talking...that’s all they do, it seems. I think it’s possible that they are doing this with H and M’s permission, sort of a way for them to test the waters without actually having to say it themselves. If not, then it speaks very poorly of them that they can’t keep their mouths shut. I have to imagine that there aren’t a ton of people who H and M confided in, so you’d think that the Sussexes could “suss” out who among their “friends” is a blabbermouth.

I agree. I don't know about you but I'd be pretty pissed off if my so called friends were blabbing about my personal life and hobbies to the media!

Lady Colin Campbell's book on the Sussex couple has been heavily publicised and I wonder how useful it will be to provide insights.
