First, pardon for the super late reply. Secondly, did I word my post wrong since you seem to assume I want them to immediately work more than before rather than just keeping a decent workload somewhat on par with what they kept before?Well, because new bosses tend to spend a lot of time at the office when they are taking over a company?
Because by keeping the abdication secret the then M&F couldn't plan for activities where they act in the capacity of a Regent Couple without risking to expose the whole thing?
Because they prioritize time spend with their children? Who may not even have been informed about the upcoming abdication until the last moment? It's after all also a big change for the children. In particular Christian but to an increasing degree also Isabella, who being the first princess for many years to turn eighteen was already very interesting. It's natural, I think, for children, and here I first and foremost think of Vincent and Josephine, to think: What about us? When both their parents are promoted into a new position that will entail a lot of traveling.
I wonder if Frederik looked back at his own teenage years and remembered what he felt with having absent parents. Perhaps they want to avoid that? - If that's the case then I think it's not only a good thing but also wise. It may help to avoid rebellious behavior or unfortunate behavior simply to get attention.
At a stretch, Mary has now had 22 engagements spanning over 10 working days spanning over 74 days in total since 22 February 2024. I wasn't particularly blown away by her engagement tally in 2023 either but just a quick comparison between last year (Crown Princess) and this year (Queen): Over the span of only two months (January to February), or 59 days, in 2023, she recorded a total of 27 engagements (and that's not counting a fluff engagement like being spotted at the theatre). So we're not seeing a continuation of her usual workload, we're seeing a significant decrease.
I want to reiterate that you'll find no bigger admirer of Mary than me. But with true admiration comes an obligation to acknowledge when someone you admire is in the wrong (which is also the reason I bring up Mary specifically – rather than her and Frederik (who I also think has a truly unimpressive engagement count so far) – here). And as I said, unless it turns out she's secretly been doing a new degree or something extraordinary like that which would take up her time, I don't think a total of 22 engagements over 74 days is good enough – even when you factor in changes behind the scenes.
As for M&F prioritising spending time with their children, well... just a teensy bit funny as I have on very good authority that while all members of the family indeed were out of the country during the winter holidays, M&F didn't spend it with either of their 4 children. Nothing wrong with that at all – rather, I think it's healthy for a couple to spend time together without their children. I just don't think it's fair to use the kids as an excuse for their unimpressive workload after the accession.
Combined with a very weird new communications tactic of being more closed off, I maintain it isn't a flattering look. But hopefully just beginner's trouble.
I thought it was fairly obvious from my post that I didn't exactly go looking for negative opinions but that they came up in conversations (conversations that usually are very positive towards the entire DRF).Well if BT allegedly has information then they should be specific about it because certain tabloids that like to deflect form their own are running with this as fact without producing evidence if same. Further, the spinning is in overdrive fort ust making things up for clicks.
And it is always possible to find individuals that will be upset or negative about something. Are they the majority of the general public or those in agreement with desired narrative by proximity?
