Muhler, thanks for the details, makes it clear it was just an accident.

You are welcome. :)

From the details we have learned:
Yes, Mary behaved like anyone should do in such a situation, but unfortunately not everyone do.
- In that sense you can perhaps say she is a "rolemodel" for reacting in the right way. Like tending to the cyclist first and foremost.

She didn't start to blame the cyclist or yell at her or leave it to PET and drive away as soon as possible or simply stand in the background. Which some in a situation similar to hers might have.
She also seemed to go through the standard practise of leaving this to the insurance companies, as evident by the woman spontanously offering to text her.
It appears, fortunately, to be such a banal incident that PET didn't even bother to call in a patrol car to assist.
And one of the articles mentions that it hadn't even been reported to the police.
So, yeah, Mary did okay.

In my opinion it requires steady nerves to drive in downtown Copenhagen, not least with two no doubt talkative children in the back.
I personally hate driving in city centres and in my opinion it's the adult cyclist who are worst, they ride on auto-pilot.
Children tend to be more aware, is my experience.

Mary handled the situation very well and as every decent person should, I think what amazes the reader on ekstrabladet.dk (who usually have readers who are critical surrounding absolutely everything) is that Mary didn't tell her security to handle the matter and that she took care of it herself, might not be surprising for someone who knows a thing or two about Mary, but for someone who might be opposed or critical of the monarchy, it might strike them as a surprise.

As a frequent cyclist in inner Copenhagen where I've gone to school for a couple of years, I can safely tell you that most of the car drivers are absolutely inconsiderate and only think about moving forward as fast as possible. This doesn't include Mary, I'm sure she's a good driver (I'm sure we would have heard about it otherwise), but I just felt like I needed to defend my "people" It's especially frustrating riding your bike when there are cars parked on each side of the road and drivers who don't respect the right of way. That said, I know there are a lot of horrible cyclists out there, sometimes I doubt if the even know the common rules of cycling.

I'm just glad both Mary and the cyclist were OK.
Incidents do happen, and while most of us know how we should behave in such circumstances, not all of us actually do when push comes to shove.

Bit of a sweeping statement regarding cyclists and in this case you have no idea who was at fault, if indeed there is anyone at fault.
Mary could have been driving like a 'Kamikaze' pilot for all you or I know.
No, I'm talking about cyclists in general. One of my pet-annoyances.

Cyclists in CPH are driving with their heads under the right arm, but so are some drivers.
I remember that when I moved to CPH a loooooong time ago I had to learn where to stop if I were going straight ahead - it´s a jungle driving bike in CPH :ROFLMAO:

As this is posted Mary and Christian are attending the funeral of her Lady's maid/chamber maid, Tina Jørgensen.

Two large pictures:

And a gallery from BT, which I presume will be updated: Se billederne: Mary og Christian til begravelse | www.bt.dk

A number of those close to Mary are also attending, among them Caroline Heering and Søren Hedegaard: Mary i sorg: Siger farvel til hofdame lige nu - Royale | www.bt.dk

According to the captions Christian and Tina Jørgensen were close.

I know, it's awful to look at pictures like that.

That picture of Mary is absolutely heartbreaking, it's really clear to see just how treasured Tina Jørgensen was to her. I think it's good she brought Christian with her, I was right about his age when my uncle, to whom I was very close, died and my mum didn't bring me to his funeral and I'm really kind of sorry that she didn't bring me, because I would like to have had the chance to say goodbye, so I'm glad Mary brought Christian, who undoubtedly was close to Tina.

Mary does look devastated.
That picture is really heartbreaking and shows just how close she was to Tina.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #45, 2012.
Et stort tab for Mary og børnene - A big loss for Mary and the children.
Written by Trine Larsen.

Mary hasn't said anything official about the death of her perhaps closest paid associate. (A LiW is unpaid and apart from that Tanja Doky and Caroline Heering are personal friends).
However other people have, among them Søren Hedegaard, Mary's hairdresser.
Tina Jørgensen was close to Christian and Isabella in particular, who have known her all their lives. To that Søren Hedegaard comments: "Yeah, the little mice...(*) it's so sad for them.
It has never been a secret that they were very close to Tina. They have grown up with her and thought, like everybody else, that she was wonderful. Of course they have their nannies, but Tina was something quite special. She was that lovely lushious, gorgeous woman who you could simply hug. One who could tell funny stories and who they could almost crawl upon. She was very loved and she will be deeply missed. By all of us.
I almost have no words for how lovely a woman Tina was. It's a huge grief and utterly incomprehensible that she is no more. She was so thoughtful against everything and everybody, so helpful selfsacrificing and she never distinguished between anyone".

Søren Hedegaard's spouse, the actor Preben Christensen for whom Tina Jørgensen previously worked, says: "Tina was like a mother to us all. A octopus with very long arms who was there for everyone. She ran from here to the end of the world, sew in a botton here, removed a stain there, gave others an extra hand while she packed and unpacked and had everything under control.
Her work was her life, but it was her unique personality that made her a highly treasured Lady's Maid for the Crown Princess". (**)

(*) It's not a common expression for small children, so I wonder if this is how Tina Sørensen referred to Christian and Isabella?

(**) Not just Mary, also Mette-Marit and Victoria enjoyed her services from time to time, when they were visiting DK.

Touching pictures from the funeral of Mary.
Its nice to see that she took Christian along especially as he has known her all his life.

Was she elderly and ill or did the death come as a complete shock?

The picture of Mary is so sad, she will obviously miss her dearly

Tina Jørgensen was only 53 and was not known to be ill. But the police will investigate, which is normal when a person is found dead at home.

Very sad and highly emotional.
I wonder though why Frederik was not there?

But it was nice that she took Christian. At this age he will understand better.
may Tina RIP

Very sad occasion

Mary looks like she's very upset about Tina's death in the picture. Were they good friends?

Tina has known Mary since she became CP if I am correct. I read she has been very close to the children as well.

Quite sad that the photographers didn't stay away from the funeral. It must have been hard for the CPss and also for the family of the deceased, as they are not used to the press.

53 yrs of age is very young. So sad for all the family and everyone she worked with. I don't remember her. I remember Countess Victoria as Hofdame but not Tina. Thanks Muhler for the translation, appreciated as always. Seeing Marys grief makes it very poignant to observe. I'm sure all who work for the DRF become quite close friends as they are in unique positions.

Tina wasn't a Hofdame. Tina was Mary's 'Lady's Maid'.

The pics are just heartbreaking, Mary looks so upset. So very sad for Tina's family and friends.

Thank you Madame Royale for the correction. My mistake, I had not read the previous posts correctly.

Gosh the pictures are heart wrenching. If Tina had been with Mary at the start she probably helped her transition from regular girl to princess. She had a hand in helping Mary become the woman she is today and it seems the crown princess will really miss her.
