I guess it is. They were not sitting close to each other, or looked at each other. Cristina and Inaki did and sat close to each other.

I feel sorry for Elena.

But why did Sofia and Elena wear the black veil and not Cristina??

From the Glittering Royals MB, info on the Gown, accesories and head piece worn by Doña Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano on the day of her wedding.

The wedding gown was designed for the Princess of Asturias with the care and distinction called for on the occasion of a Royal wedding.
The design, inspired by the 'Princess Line', has a continuous shoulder-to-floor cut.

The upper part, tapered with sleeves, extends gracefully from the waist and flows into a train measuring 4.50 metres from the hip.

Its apparent simplicity implies the complex and difficult task of the pattern; like a puzzle in which each piece and every stitch blend together ever mindful of the length and width of the train as well as the weight of the gown.

The v-neck and "corolla" neckline is embroidered with silver and gold thread, deliberately stitched on both sides as is the open back and both sides of the sleeve frills. This thread also adorns the front in the form of a pyramid from the bottom up and encircling the edge of the gown.

A much taller and wider version of the pyramid motif can also be found in the centre of the train with the beautiful allegoric embroidering of a heraldic motif: the fleur-de-lis flower, the heraldic fleur-de-lis, ears of wheat, clover and the fruit of the strawberry tree comprise this ensemble.

Fabric
It is natural silk woven three-fold with silver thread; an exclusive creation of the Valencian firm Rafael Catalá.

Shawl
The nuptial shawl is triangular, three metres long by two metres wide at its base. It is of natural, warp-knitted tulle silk, off-white and hand-embroidered, following a 19th century technique, with garlands interspersed with the fleur-de-lis and ears of wheat. This was a personal gift from the Prince.

Scarf
Cotton organza, hand-embroidered with fleur-de-lis, iris flowers, and ears of wheat encircling the arms of the Prince of Asturias.

Fan
Dating to the end of the 19th century, English style, mother of pearl ribs and 17th century Venice-style lacing.

It was restored for this occasion by National Heritage and once belonged to Princess Isabel of Bourbon, a very popular member of the Court known as the "Chata". It was chosen personally by Doña Letizia to pay special homage to Madrid and its most illustrious citizens, the Spanish Royal Family.

Shoes
The shoes were designed especially for the wedding by Pura López.

Bouquet
It is a cascade bouquet comprised of:

Irises with the emblem of the Bourbon Kings.
Roses, flower of the month of May.
Orange blossoms, in honour of the Countess of Barcelona and Doña María de las Mercedes of Orleans and Bourbon, the first wife of His Majesty Don Alfonso XII.
Apple blossoms, in honour of the Principality of Asturias and interestingly it is also the flower of Our Lady of Atocha.
Ears of wheat to symbolise fertility, hope and joy. They are also an attribute of Our Lady of Almudena, Saint Isidore the Farmer (Patron Saint of Madrid) and the traditional goddess of Cibeles.

Earrings
The earrings were a gift from Their Majesties to Doña Letizia.

They are platinum rings with six, 2.44-carat, pear-shaped diamonds, two sparkling, 1.22-carat diamonds and two sparkling, 4.54-carat diamonds.

The headpiece
This elegant, platinum and diamond, imperial-style piece belongs to Her Majesty the Queen who wore it on the day of her wedding and on the occasion of a number of family celebrations and official ceremonies.

From its origins it has formed a part of dynastic weddings. Kaiser William II gave it to his daughter, Princess Victoria of Prussia as a wedding gift when she married the Crown Prince of Hannover, Ernst August.

Their daughter, Queen Federica, received it from her mother when she married the then Prince Paul of Greece and, in turn, passed it down to her daughter, Princess Sofia when she married His Majesty the King when he was the Prince of Asturias in 1962.

Given the family history that it represents and the special occasions on which it has been used, it is a piece that is especially dear to Her Majesty the Queen.

I'm very disappointed to read so many messages comparing this wedding to the one in Denmark: it's not as glamorous, they're not holding hands, they're not smiling and so on.

Can we for one day just let Letizia and Felipe have their moment? This wedding is nothing compared to the Danish wedding. I would like to have seen what the Danish wedding would have looked like had there been a bombing in Copenhagen AND newspaper reports saying horrible things about Mary AND rain the moment the bride is arriving.

Letizia and Felipe have had to endure so much to get here. From the photos and (brief) video streams that I've seen, they looked very VERY nervous, they also looked very VERY much in love.

Let's put the Danish wedding in the back of our minds for just a few hours and concentrate solely on this new couple.. please

Uniform

Formal Army Dress Uniform.

Dark blue military jacket and trousers. The infantry arms emblem is embroidered in gold thread on the collar and the emblem corresponding to His rank as Commander is embroidered on the cuff.

Medals

Insignia of the Order of the Golden Fleece

"In keeping with the tradition of the Spanish Monarchy and as a sign of my affection to my beloved son Felipe, Prince of Asturias and Crown Prince, in accordance with the Council of Ministers it is incumbent upon me to name Him Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece." Taken from Royal Decree of 3 May 1981 in which His Majesty the King bestowed this distinction upon his son.

The insignia is a large golden collar comprised of twenty-six double links intertwined with flint stone with two capital B's and links on which a number of other sparkling blue and red gems are mounted. The Toison, with gold enamelling, hangs from the collar. The link and flint formed part of the arms of the Founder of the Order with the motto "ante ferit quam flamma micet" (Strike before the flame becomes visible).

Grand Cross Collar of the Order of Charles III (Badge and Star)

Those in possession of the Collar shall be permitted to use the Grand Cross in acts in which it is not required.

It is a badge made of sky-blue silk with two parallel white strips four millimetres from the edge of the ribbon. The star hangs from a ribbon of the same colour.

Along with the badge there is a shining silver star with four arms of equal size and eight points with eight pairs of smooth and symmetrical semi-circles. In between each of the four arms there is a sparkling gold fleur-de-lis. There is also an oval-shaped imprint with the image of the Immaculate Conception and at her feet the inscription Carlos III bordered with laurel leaves and the motto Virtuti et Mérito. The oval shape is outlined in blue enamel adorned with sparkling silver.

Grand Crosses for Military, Naval and Aeronautic Merit with distinction

The Prince of Asturias received these crosses from His Majesty the King upon completing his training at the Military Academy of Zaragoza (July 1986), at the Navy School in Marín (July 1987) and the Air Force Academy in San Javier (July 1988).

In the centre of the Cross of Military Merit there is a circular coat of arms divided into four quarters, gold-filled and 20 mm in diameter. The first represents the coat of arms of Castille, the second Leon, the third Aragon and the fourth Navarre. Granada is represented on the tip.

The Cross of Naval Merit is in the form of a Latin Cross and bears the image of an anchor centred on its vertical arm.

In the centre of the Cross of Aeronautical Merit an air force emblem measuring 33 mm by 18 mm is found and features the coat of arms of Castille, Leon, Aragon, Navarre and Granada. It is also adorned with fleur-de-lis of the House of Bourbon.

I had forgotten the wedding being on T.V and caught the part where F and L where stading at the alter. They both looked scared( which I understand), but they both were looking down and would'nt even look at each other. I was hoping for more smiles, but they seemed to be more conforable outside. Also, I had made up in my mind how f and L voices sound, but I was very wrong. I like letiza's voice. I loved her dress and Felipe looked HOTTT.
