This seems to be Eloise's area of interest. She seems to be a sort of influencer in the Netherlands from what I gather on Instagram; she has a lot of organic fans her own age who haven't come because of her family. Helped by her parents and family's status of course, but much is of her own accord too - she does a lot of sponsorships and modelling deals.

Good luck to her. A lot of influencers have tried to bring out books, some successfully, others have found that their online popularity did not translate into print sales even if it was based on what their followers had voted for as the quote from the article suggested Eloise will do.

I assume she will just use Eloise Van Oranje as she does on Instagram and not her title.

Is 230k followers among the top for influencers in the Netherlands?

Some of the initial interest will be because of her family and because she was already famous in some capacity, clearly. But you don't grow a following just because of that. Although again that might not translate into people actually buying her book.

Eloise will be somewhere between position 250 and 300 of Dutch persons with the most followers. Number One is the DJ Martin Garrix with 18 million followers.

She has everything access to the best education, jobs, why will she open her life to be an influencer.? When the novelty wears off, so do the interest of the people. I am sure she could do wat better than this. She could make a difference. Oh well her life her time.

I don't really understand it either; but it seems important to point out that this is not her 'main' activity. She started attending Hotel school this year (which already is an unconventional choice for a niece of a king in line to the throne; showing her 'independence' and someone who knows what she wants in life rather than going the expected route of attending university); and there is no indication that she wouldn't continue her studies for the next 3 1/2 years (or a bit longer depending on whether her classes can take place due to the pandemic - they did send everyone back home). So, this is something she is doing 'as a side job' - and she most likely had more time to spend due to her schooling not going as planned.

You know people can do charity work and stil make a living right :ermm:

She isnt a working royal. 'Making a difference' is not something she is going to be paid to do like her royal cousins.

She is attending college, though it's limited now with the pandemic, the hotel school. Its a four year school and will lead to a good career when done.

Being an 'influencer' is the modern version of a part time job for college kids. For those who can actually make money from it.

I highly doubt Eloise will make being an influencer her main job. People can earn millions if they have a huge platform, but I can imagine Eloise will likely venture into catering if she's at the Hotelschool. The fact she's studying there suggests an influencer is just a "side hustle".

Only the present King, the future King and the previous King (+ consorts) receive a Constitutional income from the State.

Outside these no any from Eloïse's cousins, parents, siblings or wider family (will) have any income from the State.

Eloise gave an interview to the Dutch Vogue:

She says that she often wears her mother's clothes She likes the way her mother combines bold patterns. Eloise likes 'hunting' for nice clothes and she especially likes bying them in second hand shops. She also sells her clothes through instagram.

She always wear a necklace with a small pearl pendant, a christening gift from her uncle and godfather the late prince Friso. On her 12th birthday she received a golden ring with a sapphire from her grandmother, as all the former Queen's granddaughters do.

Came across this podcast with Eloise on YouTube. The discussed the topic 'status'. Among other things she told that while her siblings cried when they heard that they were moving from Brussels to The Hague, Eloise was fine as she looked forward to the adventure of 'new things'. She also said that the day after she publicly expressed that she was 'somewhat' involved with someone, she ended that 'not-yet-relationship'. In addition, when asked about her experiences as a student in Corona-times' she told that she is enjoying her time as her student, went into self-isolation 3 times and tested positive once.

"Learning by doing" the new book of the Countess Eloise

https://www.instagram.com/p/CNz4HFVHRK0/

That is interesting, I hope making money from her social media pays out. So many choose this way why not her, in the Netherlands the mood seems very different from other european monarchies.
Though I must smile a little bit and hope that being 18 only, "learning by doing" will not stop for her and maybe there are more books to be expected once she grows older.
all the best. guess the book will only be available in dutch?

She has to make a living anyway as in the Netherlands only the King, the future King and the former King (+ spouses) receive an allowance.

Not really needed yet when only 18 years old; but it is a nice side-gig for her next to her studies at the Hotel school.

yes, but do you know another royal in europe who does a similar thing from instagram?
as she said in this interview without her sm-followers this book had not been written.
maybe she is a trendsetter :)

Whilst it's not based on her Instagram Martha-Louise of Norway has written books based on her somewhat controversial interests.

It probably wouldn't fly in some other monarchies but they're all different.

From what I've seen of her SM whilst interest in her started because of her family she's maintained a following based on her own personality and as long as she doesn't spill gossip or trade on her family in the book I don't *necessarily* think it's a problem.

A lot of Influencers who have a big following try to turn that into a fluffy lifestyle book and make money so she's not doing anything particularly unusual except her uncle is the King.

Princess Michael of Kent is also the author of several books, both fictional and non-fictional.

I said exactly this and wished her all the best, she is one of so many who try to make money by their followers.

Does she not stand to receive an inheritance from her grandmother?

I don't think that will be enough to live on.
Princess Beatrix has three sons (though one has passed away) and there are eight grandchildren.

The bulk of the Orange-Nassau fortune has been placed into the ownership of legal entities (foundations and trusts), to prevent it from fragmentation due to inheritances and taxes. That means that the Bearer of the Crown has the usufruct of fantastic and valuable properties and the collection remains intact (or is enlarged by additions).

The daughters of Queen Juliana are all well-off. None of them has had a paid job and all of them could lead a fine lifestyle, with several properties in- and outside the Netherlands.

Countess Eloïse and her siblings will eventually receive a nice inheritance but for an example her cousins Luana and Zaria will probably be multi-millionaires once because their late father Prince Friso made very succesful investments.

The same counts for Countess Eloïse's cousins Isabella, Samuel and Benjamin van Vollenhoven: their father Bernhard Jr. is a wealthy businessman which owns lots of property, from a Formula One race track in Zandvoort to the sprawling Media Park in Hilversum, which houses vast media studios and offices. From software developing companies to a real estate portfolio with some 590 properties (of which 350 in Amsterdam).

So the real wealth will be with Princess Beatrix, Princess Irene, Princess Margriet ( "old money" ) and with the widow of Prince Friso and with Bernhard Jr. ( "new money" ). But having said that, Prince Constantijn purchased his current big house in densely populated overpriced The Hague without inscription in the mortgage registers, so he could pay it "cash". No worries about him. ;-)

That sounds interesting. Can someone with access to instagram tell us more about their own business?

Incredible how he has grown, and how much he looks like his mother !

Exposition Eloise of Orange in Paradiso postponed
https://www.nu.nl/cultuur-overig/6145173/expositie-eloise-van-oranje-in-paradiso-uitgesteld.html

"Due to the growing number of corona infections and the tightened measures, the exhibition of Eloise van Oranje in the Amsterdam pop temple Paradiso has been postponed.

The opening of the exhibition - titled LAYERED*- would take place next Thursday. With the exhibition, the eldest daughter of Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien wants to propagate the message "be yourself unlimited and celebrate your individuality".
