Death of HM Queen Elizabeth II: 8 September 2022

Harry and Meghan are with William & Kate to view the flowers at Windsor Castle. I'm very glad to see all four of them today.

So, it seems that Sunday might be one more private day for the family to visit and have a private farewell before the public farewell on Monday - first at Westminster Abbey in London and next at St. George's Chapel in Windsor.

Wuill perhaps depend on how many people come. I think at the Queen Mother's Lying in State led Westminster Hall open longer then planned because of the many people who wanted to pay their last Respect.

The presence of The Prince & Princess of Wales will no doubt be a source of comfort for those present.

I'm surprised, to say the least
New reign, new start ? Really hope so.

Charles and Camila's travel schedule:
Monday: travel to Edinburgh/Scotland (including the procession from Holyroodhouse to the Cathedral and a vigil)
Tuesday: travel to Belfast/Northern-Ireland (including a vigil) and returning to London to receive the coffin at the Palace.
Friday: visit to Wales

Glad to see both William and Harry and their wives together again.

Very different feeling from the appearance of other family members earlier. All four exchanging a lot of smiles and chatter with the crowds.

[…]What won't quell any speculation was the way Meghan waived off one of the aides who offered to take the bouquet she'd been given by a well-wisher. It seemed like she was telling the aide that she would take it up to the gates herself because that's what she'd told the well-wisher, instead of recognizing that her arms were going to very soon become full of additional bouquets - which indeed happened.

Kate & William, on the other hand, are perfectly fine passing off the bouquets to their aides as necessary.

I think it's easier to be one removed. The others are up with her in Balmoral and having in effect a family wake. They are going to be emotional.

The CNN guy just announced that William arranged the walkabout - he invited Harry and Meghan to join him and Kate for a viewing of the flowers.

The Prince of Wales is already popular with the British people & no doubt will continue to grow in our affections.

He is one of us, lives amongst us, respects our nation & is our future king.

God Bless The Prince of Wales!

William and Kate are so good with people - you can see how easy they find it to talk and connect, even with complete strangers.

The Prince of Wales is clearly a considerate & wise man.

BBC has gone off the death of The Queen entirely and gone whole hog on its speculation about the Waleses and the Sussexes, all off topic for this thread, but shocking to hear.

She had an incredible life! Strong, stable, and enduring. She was a role model for all women.

The BBC can be an utter embarrassment at times. Hopefully this will stop soon.

Crowds yelling for William which is heartening for the future

Nice to see they did what was expected and needed of them. I read no more into it than that.

Touching to note Anne is accompanying her mother's coffin on its return to London but I wonder why just her?

Quite so, but I still hope that Charles will be accepted by the people, before William takes over.
I have always had a soft spot for Charles and think that his life hasn't been so easy.

Possibly because no one would want Andrew to, and Edward has a minor child who may still need him to be there, and obviously the King has other things to attend to. Or Anne simply wanted to be the one. :)

[…]I wonder if the Sussexes will stay until the funeral or go home and come back.

Perhaps it's in lieu of her partaking in the vigil at the lying in state. It's usually just the men who stand at the coffin's corners but it wouldn't surprise me if she joins them.

I wonder if Anne will stand guard with her brothers.

The Sussexes will have a lot to participate in over the coming nine days and would not have time to return home, I should think.

I would imagine Anne will join them.

?

That’s all I read into it too. They’re setting things aside after the death of their grandmother.

Harry obviously didn’t want to stay in Scotland with the rest of the family. And given that it is his father that just became king- it makes sense for the Wales’ and Sussexes to do this together. It would have been odd if Harry was the only grandchild- besides James- behind closed doors imo.
