While I am thinking, we can indeed not compare Mette Marit, Mary and Daniel, I am though thinking, that both Daniel and Mette Marit were underestimated and had to face lots of criticism.
Daniel was in the press and for many people the gym trainer without education (I think many still believe he wasn´t an gym owner, when he did meet Victoria) and Mette Marit the "junkie", who had a child with a drug dealer.
Mary, on the other hand, got portrayed as "lawyer" by many, while she "just" has a bachelor of law and commerce.
I guess this has a lot to do with the kindness of the Danish people, but also with the fact, that Mary was no Dane.
I agree, Lola. I think you lead it to the point. Daniel was underestimated in terms of that he was seen as "just" Victoria's gym trainer.
Somehow, I it comes to my mind there may have been a marketing strategy going on behind the palace doors since months or years in order to establish a good picture of Daniel in the public. I can imagine that everyone in the palace knew that Daniel is actually a nice guy but that his background and his health might cause objections against him in the country. So they kept his public actions and appearences on sort of low grounds until the wedding day speech to let him shine on that day - and what a great speech it was. It caused such a positive "oh"-effect in the public. And now everyone loves him because they might think that he is absolutely capable to handle the duties that are awaiting him for the rest of his life. Now they see in him the potential to be a great prince of Sweden and consort to his wife.
