Hard for a lady who has to be demure in dress to "compete" with a lot of bare flesh constantly "in front of" the home place masses.

/ritzau/

In the article above it says that Mary has chosen three organisations that will have the honour of having the crownprincess as their protektor.

The organisations are:

"Julemærkefonden" - a foundation that help children that are overweight.

"Psykiatrifonden" - a foundation which tries to spread more information and knowledge about psychiatric diseases.

"Landsforening Sind" - a foundation which works for a greater understanding and tolerance towards people with psychological problems and diseases.

Mary til Færøerne
Kronprinsesse Mary skal for første gang se øerne i Nordatlanten

/ritzau/ - 13:13 - 29. dec.

------------------------

Ok, I would love to tranlate this, but for the moment I can't remember what "Færøerne" is called in English.

Anyway the article says that this summer, june 20. - 23. Mary will visit Færøerne along with Crownprince Frederik, Queen Margrethe and prince Henrik. They will sail on Dannebrog.

"Færøerne" = Faeroe Islands (dunno, just guessing... I know they're visiting the Faroe Islands June or July next year)....

Also check out the kongehuset website.... new engagements for the CP and CPss (including one for which Mary is patron for). The CP couple are also going to New York for about a week late January next yea to appoint HC Andersen ambassadors.

It is actually quite nice that two Danish princesses are represented in both the "attractive" and "elegant" polls. That means they have won a poll of the week and than a poll of the month. Go Mary and Alexandra :)

I think you have just encouraged the "Mary haters" to vote against her.
Hahaha! Yeah you're probably right!

But they're just voting for someone they care nothing for, just so the one they hate won't win. That's just so petty.

Anyway, it doesn't matter - just check out where Mary is at the moment. I mean, we have here someone who became a princess only 8 months ago, and she's coming SECOND and THIRD/ FOURTH! Who would have thought, aye?

Well done! (not that this is a serious poll or anything).

And to all those who are voting for Mary - please keep voting and don't give up!!!!:D :)

nordishbynature,
Thankx for the picture, she really looks nice, i liked that dress bas now looking at it i dont like the ribbon at the back

That's a great picture. Now all the portraits of the royal family look alike with formal attire and regalia.

Crown princess Mary is in the 2nd position of the poll of www.hellomagazine.com of the most elegant woman of 2004 by only 200 votes after Aishwayra Rai the former miss world, and princess Alexandra swept out my avatar to the end of the poll, oops!;)

wow...Princess Mary is doing pretty well even though she is only in 2nd spot but she is beating alot of other very elegant women including PRincess Alexandra who surprisingly isn't getting as much votes as i expected...

I think that's because Alexandra actually isn't regarded as a particularly stylish woman! In fact I recall reading articles in the Australian papers saying how they hoped Mary's stylish dress wouldn't be crushed in the same way, and that Alexandra had become decidedly frumpy in her choices since marrying. I have to say so many of her gala dresses are like Princess Barbie on speed - huge ball skirts and nipped in waistes in pastel shades. I am much more enjoying Mary's sleeker taste.

the other voters have gone after vote 1X, just mary's suporters and mary's haters keep voting their candidate as many as they want (because it is possible to vote more than once time):p , so why do we pay much attention in "hello" poll. BTW I would like to know the result of The Daily Telegraph, poll to determine their "Woman of the Year".

I like Princess Alexandra, she's a great princess, but i must admit i agree with Napoleon...sometimes her gala dresses are so boofy and not very elegant...

There have been earlier discussions about what organizations Mary would patronize. I was looking at the Crown Prince's website and they list a few. Here is the list with a description.

I believe two (or three) new organisations have been added to the list. She's also going to be the patron for "a heart disease association and an association for brain damage affected persons" (thanks to potter from CPMaryMB) :) http://www.hkhkronprinsen.dk/9e000c .

The heart disease one makes sense - as we all know, her mum suffered from heart complications. And I think the brain damage one ties in with her interest in mental health.

How old was Mary when her mother passed away? I can't find the thread that mentions anything about this.
