Why are people so worked up about the fact that a man and a woman in the 21st century are going to have a baby and for reasons of their own have decided not to be married? It is not as if lots of people do not make a similar decision. In France it is about 55% of women, and I read in a summer issue of Atlantic magazine that the percentage was similar for women in middle America. No big deal.
The fact that the soon to be father decided to continue working seems perfectly normal, most especially since his career is one where you take the opportunities that are available to you when they come along. Do people seriously expect him to put his career on hold just because Charlotte is expecting? Really, would you expect that of any other man? Would you have expected your own husbands to set work commitments aside because you were pregnant? Pity your own husbands if you did.
