Wouldn't the event at St James be indoors? I don't think St James Palace has a garden.

Who knows - I think they held one out front before the India trip last year - but you know how bad my memory is. The RD does call it a Garden Party.

St James' Palace has a garden. It is smaller, of course, than BP. I am not sure where the St James' garden ends and CH begins. Remember that CH is part of the St James' complex.

Although this story is about a car event it does refer to the gardens at St James' palace:

This one is an aerial shot of the Changing of the Guard route but it does show St James' palace and it is clear that there are gardens there as well:

http://changing-guard.com/guard-change-route.html

This is another aerial picture that shows more of the St James' palace complex from the air and again a snippet of another garden area is visible:

It is also a good one to show just how big St James' is - given that there are a number of apartments and a lot of offices there as well as chapels and reception rooms etc it isn't surprising.

I find that reading the Court Circular, I often think, "Not how I would have written that." The majority of the world, of course, is thrilled that I'm not in charge ;), but some things just leap out at me.
A perfect example is the entry for May 15 at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Those who sat with the Queen (she was received by them) were mentioned in the CC. Those who honored her by being in the show (Edward, Anne and Lady Louise), are not in the CC. Except as part of the unnamed others that "were present." Well yes, present and on horseback.

"The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this evening took the salute at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in the Home Park, Windsor, to celebrate Her Majesty's Ninetieth Birthday and was received by The Prince of Wales, Patron, The Queen's 90th Birthday Celebration, and The Duchess of Cornwall. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Henry of Wales, The Duke of York, The Countess of Wessex, The Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy and other Members of the Royal Family were present. Members of Foreign Royal Families also attended.
The memory I will retain of the event will be of The Earl of Wessex riding with his daughter and that smile Anne sent her mother's way. And of course, the CC remains silent about those family touches.

Actually, I thought it was Edward removing his hat and beaming ear to ear that stole the show as far as family appearances. :D

Worth noting that even Beatrice and Eugenie - who were seated behind HM wasn't even mentioned as being at the event at all either. As The Queen has to approve the CC I suppose it is her determination that these royals weren't there officially.

There will be a delay this week as I go from Thursday to Thursday but the CC for Thursday 19th isn't up and, from experience won't be up until next Wednesday my time (they are only putting it up once or twice a week it seems these days rather than the next day).

I believe The Times is no longer putting up an online CC either so that source is no longer available to me to check for the information.

To me, it's seems strange that Louise and James has 2 CC mentions and Eugenie and Beatrice have none. There appears to be no rhyme or reason to who is in the CC for what. For some royals every meeting is in there but other royal's don't list every meeting.

Weekly update to 19th May, 2016

Sorry for the late update but they didn’t update the 19th until Wednesday my time and then they did the 19th – 23rd but then didn’t update for the 24th or 25th – yet. The new site doesn’t seem any more efficient with the CC than the old one. What the rest of the site is like I have no idea as I no longer go anywhere near it. This update includes the Royal Windsor Horse Show performance at which many of the royal family were present ... but not according to the CC. Beatrice, Eugenie, Edward and Anne were not listed as attending. I assume for Edward and Anne it was because they weren’t in the stands but why Beatrice and Eugenie weren’t listed as attending I have no idea but I have credited them with an unofficial royal duty. James was also present but as he and Louise are both still children I am only giving them credit for being in the official CC. Interestingly Prince and Princess Michael of Kent were listed as attending … there is no rhyme or reason to the CC at times like this.

Once again it is Saturday morning here and the update for Thursday hasn't gone up - so again there will be a delay this week.

If this keeps up - two updates a week (Wednesday's and Thursday's my time) I will have to adjust the day on which I do the updates but at the moment I am still hoping they may get their act together and update 5 times a week, unless the working week at the BP office that handles this is now only a 2 day week.

Future Engagements for June as at 30th May

From the British Monarch Website

The Queen – 7 (including a ‘visit to Liverpool – which usually results in 6 – 7 engagements during the day)
Philip – 15 (he will be accompanying The Queen to Liverpool)
Charles – 2
Camilla – 2
William – 0 (no longer listed in the FE)
Kate – 0 (no longer listed in the FE)
Harry – 0 (no longer in the FE)
Andrew – 0 (hasn't been listed in the FE since the site upgrade)
Edward – 23 (he also has days listed as ‘will carry out engagement at xxx in Canada – so another overseas tour for Edward after being in Africa this past week)
Sophie – 11 (she also has days listed as ‘will carry out engagement at xxx in Canada))
Anne – 34 (There are also a number of entries in the FE that have no details)
Richard - 18
Birgitte - 7
Edward - 6
Alexandra – 10

Although we all know there is a church service on the 10th June for the Queen’s 90th Birthday and a Street Party in The Mall on the 12th according to the FE none of the BRF are attending either event.

It is also interesting how few of the KGs in the BRF are listed as going to be attending the actual Garter Day on the 13th June.

Ascot is also not listed and yet, from past experience The Queen and DoE will attend officially every day of the Race Meeting (although none of the rest of the family are listed as attending).

From the Prince of Wales Website

Charles – 1
Camilla – 0

This is an additional engagement to those listed in the FE on the main site

From the Duke of York Website and Twitter Site

Andrew – 0

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: NONE

Missing dates from earlier in the year: NONE (none up to the end 28th April according to the former online Times but … dates since then for which I can’t be sure will be listed from now on – it is possible that there were no engagements that day but I don’t have the back up information any more).

Nothing listed for: 30th April.

Types of Engagements – to 26th May, 2016

New ‘types of engagements’ this week – Court, Football, Garden Party. A note about a ‘court’ – this is often the term used in some organisations to describe a meeting, especially a change of officer bearers meeting. I know that as I belong to one such organisation. Given the organisation that the ‘courts’ are usually associated with for the royals this is what I suspect this term means. It isn’t a matter of going to a trial or anything like that.

For the third week in a row the BRF website has only updated the CC twice during the week - on Wednesday and Thursday their times. They are up to the 1st June (last Wednesday) and given past performance I don't expect them to put up the 2nd now until next Wednesday when they will put up the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th and then on Thursday they will put up the 8th. Why I have no idea.

I therefore have a decision to make - do my updates on a Saturday each week my time (my preference) but from Thursday to Wednesdays - or to do the updates the following Wednesday's and still go from Friday to Thursday.

I will not actually make a decision until August as I am leaving for the UK shortly and will be travelling for six weeks (next Saturday I will be in The Mall for Trooping for instance but this year going further afield than just London). I will do my best to keep up to date while away of course but seeing the sights does take precedence over this little hobby).

Due to a crashed computer while in London I probably won't be able to do any updates until late July but will do, if people want me to do so even though it won't be weekly for a few weeks.

Update and explanation:

Some people may be wondering how I can post on some threads but not update here - simple answer - I can access the internet through hotel computers and fellow travellers but do not have access to my data.

My tour director thinks he might be able to direct me to a computer place when I get to Paris for a week or so which may be able to help.

As the CC hasn`t updated since the 13th June I wouldn`t be able to do an update this week anyway.

Thank you so much for keeping us up to date! Don't strain yourself! Just do it when you're back! :)

IMO you should not worry about it. Take a little break and enjoy yourself.:)

The CC has actually managed to get itself up to date to the 16th June (only 4 days behind now).

I know we all enjoyed all the images of the royals at Ascot but as usual the 'engagement count' for Ascot week will be rather low due to the fact that only The Queen and Philip are ever recorded as attending. I love the wording as well:

The Queen, with The Duke of Edinburgh, honoured Ascot Races with her presence today.

The CC on the new site is doing really, really well.

It hasn't updated since the 29th June.

Yes folks you read that correctly - it hasn't been updated for a week (and I know that a number of the royals were in France for last week's services on the Somme and the Duke of Kent has been to Wimbledon - not to mention HM has been to Scotland but the CC is only up to the 29th June.

I have only been reading the CC on the British Monarch website but ... I have never seen it this bad before.

The last update is still the 29th June. In other words the events around the Somme anniversary, Holyrood Week, Charles and Camilla's annual week in Wales, the rest of Anne's overseas trip (and Andrew's I think) along with the Duke of Kent and the Duchess of Gloucester regularly attendances at Wimbledon aren't official engagements this year.

I wonder if the audiences on Wednesday will rate as official engagements for the CC.

Seriously no update since the end of June and we are in the middle of July (it has nearly been two weeks with no updates).

For an institution that relies on PR it is deplorable.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

Finally an update has happened but the following dates are still missing:

30th June
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th July

These dates include the 100th anniversary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme along with many other events that take place in early July.

I will continue to call out the British Monarchy Website and hope that other places that record things like the CC in one way or another - and they do exist - do the same until someone there actually decides that they need to get their act together and get the information out to the public.
