Madness!
Future engagements can now be launched in two ways.
https://www.royal.uk/future-engagements and
http://www.royal.gov.uk/LatestNewsandDiary/Royaldiary/Locationsandtimes.aspx
If you go and look at them and look at the choices under the pull downs for "member of the Royal Family" it's crazy.
The royal.gov pulldown lists the full family.
The royal.uk puldown omits the POW, DuchessOCo, DOCa, Prince Harry, DOY, DuchessOCAa. They are not even a choice.
While I get that there may be security concerns, what's the point of future engagements with the public if you conceal them from the public? Nevermind that future engagements are listed haphazardly on social media and covered in the press.
And nevermind that this makes it clear that they are running/attending to two databases on this. Or that this makes it very clear (IMO) that these two offices are in conflict about how/what to make public.
Also, IMO it looks sad that the Queen's and the Heir can't bring their staff to heel on the issue. Or worse, that they themselves are in conflict over this. And that members of the family now look like they have chosen sides.
Again, just my opinion, but this does not look like an effective approach for a current of future head of state.
Edit - OK - I read more and the intent is to get rid of royal.gov (no date or time mentioned). On closer exam - I am not so sure which press office is in charge of this new site.
But I really dislike a lot about the new format. The search feature does seem better than the search feature on the old site. The scrolling is just irritating. A search of "styles and titles" was
interesting. Ditto Cyphers. A search on Christmas was highly illuminating about the Queen's past broadcasts, but you would not know the family goes to Sandringham for the holiday. LOL - and off topic for here. But do go and look at it.
