Rarotonga just made a post in current events that she read that PA told the Monegasque press he would have a family soon. (She got that from the Franco-Iberian MB but I couldn't find the post.) Per an article I found on Yahoo! France (in the friends thread) his press people aren't talking. Heaven knows what that means.
 
So does that mean they're really going to get married?? For real?? :rolleyes:
 
No one knows, dear. It's just wait and see for now. Paca, our dear little spy, is away so we won't know anything for a few days.
 
I know how some of you may comment on how Charlene somewhat acted very camera-ready on their appearances together. But here's what I think.. I recall Albert said on an interview the reasons why he never got married:
1. Rainier never approve of his girlfriends (he said once, "Maybe I'll get married when he (Rainier) died.") - because he think no other women can be compared to his wife, Grace.
2. The women he dated can't keep up with the crazy paparazzi (this is very reasonable).
I think the reason Albert and Charlene appear together is because he is sure she has no problem with the press, and he's having a good time with her. Maybe this relationship is actually going somewhere we'd never guess they would. We should be happy for Albert. And whether or not Charlene is craving for media attention is not our problem. We should wish them all the best in life. I think it's time for a new princess..

Is there any woman in the world that anyone on this board would approve of PA marrying who is not some sleazy actress who got naked in a movie? I mean, I don't think Nicole Kidman or Charlize Theron would stand up to scrunity, I'm sorry. Why does he have to marry an actress? Why can't he marry an Olympic swimmer? What's wrong with that? Are people forgetting that the next Princess of Monaco has to attend state dinners and behave like a head of state? She has to have respect! Charlene Wittstock can be toned down in front of the cameras and trained to act like a princess. Nicole Kidman can't wipe away Eyes Wide Shut. :eek: Maybe PA needs someone who is comfortable in front of the cameras and won't take the press so seriously and have a nervous breakdown.

Please remember that there was opposition to almost every crown princess who married into the royal families of Europe these past few years. Mette-Marit was a single mother and had a wild past, Maxima has an unfortunate father, Mary was a foreign-born commoner, Letizia was divorced. These boards were jumping with opposition to these marriages. They all seem to be working out so far. Most of the new CP's are very popular or fairly popular. All of those CP's had months of training before their marriages. Please people. The fact is PA can't have anymore "girlfriends!" How many more women does he need to sleep with before he gets married?!

Actually, that Mary was foreign-born helped her a lot. Queen Margrethe wanted Frederik to marry someone not Danish-born.

Of all the Crown Princesses you mentioned (Mary, Mette-Marit, Letizia, Maxima), Mary was the most well accepted by her adopted country. She was welcomed and loved by the Danes from the beginning, and has been supported every step of the way and is one of the royal family's most popular members.
 
Excellent thoughts Laviolette...however your last statement is something only Albert can answer. It is unfair to compare any person to another. No one is saying that he has to marry an actress or any other particular type of person. He has said very recently that he is in no rush to get married, she has said that they are not talking marriage, it's everyone else. Personally, I'd like to see him with someone like Mary who never sought the spotlight like Charlene is apparently doing. Being taught to act like a princess is one thing; understanding the enormity the impact of your actions on your role is totally different. That's where some of us have issues...we don't think that she understands how the Princess of Monaco needs to deflect the spotlight to the Prince of Monaco and his agenda.

But he's not going to marry someone like Mary. That's clear. And any ill behaviour on her part, to me, is a reflection on him. What is he doing with her if she is "unsuitable?" And as far as her deflecting the spotlight to him and his agenda, isn't it his job to guide her by his own example. If he's behaving in this indiscreet way, why would she know to behave any different around him? Isn't anything his responsibility?

He is behaving pretty discreetly: he has made no comments to the press, his press office isn't saying anything other than no comment, she's the one with all the attention. This is all his responsibility and maybe if they have been dating for a while, her current behaviour may be the reason he chose her "coming out" party as the Olympics rather than an important state affair like his intronisation. Personally, like paca, I think she's a distraction for the time being and she's going to capitalize on the notoriety. At this point, any woman, past gf, or not, is going to be hyperscrutinized by the press. Of course, I'd like to hear what is happening in that part of the world, but we'll have to wait for paca.
 
is there any chance that maybe he has someone who is not in the spotlight? maybe she is just waiting until he give the okay and then he'll show the world who he is going to marry? does anyone think it possible?

we'll all have to wait and see if he is done dating or not. but if he is not done dating maybe he will work his way to dating someone on this board.

I agree with PinkLady, I have some suspicion that this Olympyc game maneuver looks like "a distraction for the time being" :) But at the same time I don't think that he has someone hidden in the shade now, otherwise I would think: - "What for?" We all want to be proud of our choice and I think he too. Or did he pick up someone very dubious and unsuitable once again? :confused: Remembering his recent bitter experience it seems too unlikely as well as his dating with someone from this board as Semi said...try to keep your heads out of rose clouds, girls. I am fully cinfident our board is not that place where PA is used to spend his free time ;) ....What about Paca? Whe is she going to back with news?

The one thing everyone needs to remember now is that Albert no longer has to hide anyone from public view for fear of his father's disapproval. He is finally free to choose whomever he wants and I'd like to think that PA knows exactly what he wants and needs pretty much like anyone else does. I have to admit though, I like semi's optimism. :)

Personally what I think is important to remember is that while someone he dates may resemble his mother physically or have the same career, she ultimately needs to have the poise and brains to fill the role well. That has been more difficult to find. Perhaps the string of unsuitable, but I'm sure lovely ladies, had more to do with Rainier's ideal than Albert's.

Well, it looks like they are together to me. She looks rather stunning in these new pics - thanks Tosca. He's not hiding her, he's almost glowing with relief. She looks happy and at 28 years old, she can have several children for the MC throne. Honestly, besides the nit-picking about whether she's playing to the press or not, she happens to be the most suitable woman he's dated in a long, long, long time. :)

They haven't actually been seen together for a few days, so they are either viewing events separately or she's gone home. Maybe them meeting up over the course of the games wasn't serious afterall? If it were, wouldn't you think she would stay to keep him out of trouble, and to keep his eye from wondering? Just a thought.
 
I think he needs someone different I mean more educated, with an universitary degree.We all know that if you spend most of the time training you are not very cultivated.Do you really think she is suitable? She is just a pretty face.We are no longer in the 50's when Monaco was very different.Mary studied law and Letizia was a journalist and they know how to use this in their favour.He needs someone like Princess Victoria(not her) who is not particularly beautiful nor particularly intelligent but she is beautiful enough and intelligent enough for her role.He needs someone who could socialise both with businessmen in Monaco(and I'm sure they have something to say in the principality's public life) and with heads of state.

I wouldn't say she's not cultivated just because she has no university degree. Albert's younger sister doesn't have one neither ...

CW might be a fine wife for PA. Only he can tell really. But, I am a bit confussed about her "training" for 2008. She would be a bit old for it wouldn't she? Kind of sounds like a line. Someone else made a similar comment in an earlier post. Any ideas on how serious this might be?

Leah...You are right -- she could be the one and maybe not. PA is the only one who knows for sure.

There are posts on swimming websites saying that last fall CW rejoined a prestigious swimming club in SA in order to re-focus her swimming career. She'll be 30 1/2 in '08 -- probably much older than the other swimmers. Per the article in which she says she is training for Peking, she claims that injuries have kept her away from serious training but she never really stopped. It's just a wait and see game.

I'm not sure if her sudden "disappearance" from events with PA is in response to the media frenzy focusing more on his love life and less on his relationship as an IOC member. She was talking pretty freely to the press for a while which is a big no-no.

So jealous you are in HI...it's FREEZING in Boston. Aloha.

okay ,i am sorry if my comments were taken wrong, what i meant to say is since albert dates women from all walks of life and social levels i thought it could be possible that someone out here might have a chance to date him. with him running a country i would be surprise if he had a lot of time to surf the net.

If I had to guess on the PA - CW thing I would say they were just having a good time. He has no reason to marry. Why would any man who can practically pick a woman out of the crowd cramp his own style by getting married? That just puts him line for more scandal.....rumors of cheating etc. etc. He has a family. I also think what Rainer wanted, and the women he approved of, are completely irrelevant at this point.

Oh, Leah..I'm so sorry...I will keep you and your friends in my prayers.

Well, PA kinda, sorta does have a reason to marry -- legitimate heirs of his own. There isn't a crisis in the line of succession but... Yes, I agree getting married for the wrong reasons to perhaps the wrong person could potentially create more problems that it solves, but never discount parental influence.
 
:p Well, I guess at this point the succession point is resolved.

If PA felt that there was an emergency or something about his not having a legit heir, then he would probably try to fix it. but since he has not done that, then I assume there is no problem.

I just think that he just has not and does not want to get married. Plain and simple. Since he's a prince, however, and the long locked-in tradition is that princes get married, alot of people would never accept it if he said plainly that he does not want to get married. So, he just goes on with his dates and let the people wait and talk as they will.

And that's fine. The situation is resolved so he does not have to do that if he does not ever want to.:p
