But are they actually called mini-pizzas? Perhaps they are canapés that someone has relabeled? (I hope!)

I hope so!! - mini pizza is so not as elegant as canapé!! :)

Politically speaking I think Wills and Kate are clueless - since when do you have the opportunity to invite the [Planetarch- ruler of the planet] and his wife and do not claiming the cala lilies are in bloom and this is a semi private affair etc and every other excuse in the book.
Many monarchs will atttend but no Planetarch?I want to know if any of the Bushes or even Nancy Reagan got invited and I bet they did.

I just read that they are serving mini pizzas at the reception? And Kate picked out the toppings? Anyone know if this has been reported-

Really hoping they are not the type of mini pizzas I am picturing :( If they are- IMO that's sort of tacky for a Royal wedding (sorry)

LOL. The mini pizza story came from the alleged conversation that Kate and Camilla had during their lunch. First, I doubt the story. Second, even if true, it could have been a joke or they could have been talking about the hen party or something completely different. If the Queen actually serves mini pizzas at the buffet reception, I will be shocked.

How funny it would be if they served mini pizzas! I can see the surprise look on the guests faces.

Agreed! Likewise the media reporting it as if it's some personal snub by William and/or Kate is feintly ridiculous to me, with almost 2000 people attending I suspect William and/or Kate had little personally to do with deciding each & every guest & who to invite or not invite. Some specific people, sure, they probably wanted & asked if they could attend but I suspect a majority of guests William and Kate had little real choice/preference over. Not that I know for sure of course but I highly doubt William & Kate sat down somewhere & said something along the lines "no way that US President's coming to my wedding, let's snub them!". :p

I agree with this! I imagine that somewhere there is a kind of protocol list setting out who needs to be invited to a royal wedding (the list will change depending on rank of the royal getting married). The list will contain several hundred important people who must be invited and will leave a set number of "blanks" to enable the wedding couple to invite whom they like.

Perhaps because they are not American, and don't believe that the American's president rules the world.

They've had time to think all about this. They've been through the idea of marriage I imagine a hundred of times. They will have it good I imagine and the day will be big and great and gigantic and no one will be left without. It'll be a splendid day. I can imagine only.
I think I leave it to William and her Majesty to hire the working hands, to fire up the best food in the land and you never know if it will be a awesome night to remember. I hold Will up to that. And if there will be pizzas I hope they go down good with some very expensive champaign. Kidding. But you all know this is one of the biggest events. There will be no joke about it... trust me. I only wish I were invited. Maybe I'll go on a hunger strike like that guy in Mexico. Cheers. :D

Did anyone else see the guy from Centrepoint who "escorted" William during his night out to experience, as much as possible, what the homeless/those who recieve help from Centrepoint experience has recieved an Invite?

That was Toronto CTV at 6pm.

Sigh...There are certain posters who I'm embrassed to see are fellow Canadians. Good Grief!!

Was this on CTV tonight? Sorry it's kinda late here I could just be misinterpreting what your saying.

I read in the Hola magazine from Spain that Valentino was chosen by Kate to make her the wedding dress. The mag shows the boceto (drawing) made by Valentino of the dress.

I think it's because US Presidents and/or their wives have been invited to royal weddings in the past, and so now many people simply expect it.

But in previous cases, those people invited had some sort of relationship to either the Queen or the Prime Minister- which the Obamas don't.

Besides, it's William's wedding, why should he have to forego having some of his friends in order to invite people he hasn't met or (yes, I'll be the one to say it) may not particularly like?

Just wanted to remember our American members about this:

From Fax News

President Obama is clearly the biggest star not invited to Chelsea Clinton's wedding this weekend, but protocol experts say the bride's mother, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was under no obligation to invite her boss.
These days, the rule of thumb at any wedding -- no matter how high-profile -- is that the bride and groom, not their parents, have final say on the guest list. Since Obama does not have any longstanding personal relationship with the former first daughter, he doesn't exactly qualify as family and friends.

Well, if Hillary Clinton need not invite her boss to her daughter's grand wedding then the queen musn't either...

Planetarch? Don't be ridiculous. By no means does Barak Obama rule the planet.

No former Presidents were invited, so let's stop this nonsense.

It's been stated that she chose a designer that is not well known. Valentino certainly does not fit this description.

This is absolute hogwash. The Obamas do not rule the planet, nor will they ever. The Bushes aren't going, neither is Nancy Reagan.....there's zero need for any of these people to attend this wedding. It isn't a state function. Besides, even if it were a state wedding, why would the Bushes or Nancy Reagan be invited? They aren't current heads of state. This is a wedding, not a former president's funeral.

Seriously, that was absolutely ridiculous. Planetarch? Give me a break. We don't rule the world, and I'm damn glad for it. People that talk about our president like that creep me out.

Alright its time to move on.

The Obamas aren't going. They aren't upset. Its not a state occassion....let's talk about something else.

It will be exciting to see all almost the entire Royal Family at the wedding. I am going to assume that the Earl and Countess of Harewood have also been invited. I wonder if anyone from Phillip's side has been invited.

I agree..once and for all, this IS NOT A STATE OCCASION.. there are NO snubs..hahaha. My goodness, the media make a big deal out of nothing at all.

I am really hoping the weather holds that day for them both.

Reminder...the topic if Obama (i.e. receiving an invitation, the state vs. not state occassion, ruling the world, etc.) is Done.

Any and all additional posts will be deleted without notice.

Yeah, they're probably expecting those miniature hot dogs in the
ketchup-y sauce.

Where to watch the wedding when in London?

Hi all.

I find myself in London on the "big day" more by luck than design. I am interested in the wedding but cannot see myself pushing with the crowds to get a glimpse of the festivities.

Does anyone have any info about wedding related events in London? For example, will there be parks with large screens televising the events? Or will there pubs or clubs having wedding day events with coverage?

I keep checking news sites, blogs and travel forums but I cannot locate any info at all.

I'm renting an apartment for my visit and while I will have a TV surely there's got to be a medium between watching it by myself or being part of a heaving mass of people.

Thanks, Mez.

I rarely post on these forums, so not sure of the protocol. Is this question worthy of it's own thread or should I just continue to wade through this one?

Mez - I read in the London Evening Standard that it is hoped in Hyde Park big screens will be set up televising the wedding but we're waiting for the go ahead from the London Mayor.

More events may be announced nearer the time I suppose. Why not watch the wedding ceremony on TV at your hotel then walk down towards Buckingham Palace to see the balcony scene and soak up the crowds and atmosphere.

Jacknch you are right, I hear the same thing. Mayor of London has to give is "go" for the place where to put the screens in london, but it 's is underway (I hope I can explain myself correctly)

It makes no sense to use the Spencer tiara. That belongs to Earl Spencer and he is only the grooms maternal uncle.

William is not a Spencer and it would best serve certain members to accept that fact and move on already ;)

Theres no reason why Catherine shouldn't wear a tiara. She is becoming a royal and that's that. Princesses wear tiaras, not least of all on their wedding day...

And lets be honest, her lineage has absolutely no relevance as to whether or not she should or shouldn't wear a tiara. None whatsoever.

I am quite sure that if screens are put up, they would be at Hyde Park in Central London as this has been done before for big events and Hyde Park is used for concerts etc. I think they will wait until they have more of an idea how many people are expected in London on the day and we will not hear until nearer the time.

It's a charm for those Flat Charm Charm Bracelets from what I can see, right? Maybe I'm wrong, but as there's no clasp to link it on to a bracelet, I have a bad feeling I'm not. A shame, as it's a lovely design.

You don't use a clasp as there is a hole through the centre to put it on the bracelet.
