I voted for a boy, because I already said in the announcement thread that Christian really needs a little male back up with all the future crown princesses around him.

Names? Oscar sounds nice. Or Emil. But I don't know how likely those names will be. Maybe it could be a Carl-Something name to keep on to a little tradition. So my guess for the moment would be Carl Olof. Carl from the royal families side, Olof from Daniels side. Because it's Daniels first name he doesn't use.

No, as far as I know it's just a danish tradition.

The godparents are easy to guess because regardless of the gender it's an heir who will be born. So there will be a whole bunch of current heirs among the godparents. And I'm pretty sure that the scandinavian heirs are among the godparents because they share a very tight friendship. On the other hand I don't think that Madeleine or Carl Philip will be among the godparents. They would be better for later kids who aren't that "important" so they need "important" heir godparents.

Does my last sentence make sense? I know exactly what I want to say but I'm not sure if you get what I mean.

Ever since Fred and Mary threw us all for a loop when they names the twins, I am not sure what the name will be but I hope is isn't Olof or Oscar, sorry but I dont like the names very much. I will have to think about this for a while.

As they recently had the anniversary of the Bernadotte dynasty and IMO it seems that during the wedding, Daniel seemed very close/affectionate with Victoria's great uncle, a new little Prince Carl Johan would honor history as well as the last surviving great grandchild of Queen Victoria.

For a female heir, a combination of her aunt's names - Margaretha Birgitta Desiree Christina - in any order would be nice, or in a nod to Daniel's sister - Anna - would also be pretty.

Crown Princes Frederick & Haakon definitely and Mette Marit is a good guess. I figure the heir will have god parents of many of the other heirs to thrones. So throw in Pavlos of Greece, maybe Prince Charle or William, Prince Willem-Alexander, Prince Felipe and Prince Phillipe with Prince Mathilde also a possibility. And maybe the King or Queen of Sweden and her brother or sister.

Victoria is goodmother to alot of royal children so the possibilities are enormous.

I think only parents are to decide.As far as it concerns me,I don't think it's a good choice to make your siblings godparents of a child,as they are closest relatives and definitely they will have anyway very important role in the eyes of their future nephews/nieces.

My predictions for Godparents

I am soo happy Crown Princess Victoria is pregnant. I had a feeling she was as she has been wearing loose clothing recently.

I believe they will choose Crown Prince Frederik and Haakon definately. Then possibly Crown Princess Mary and Mette-Marit, along with maybe Princess Maxima or Mathilde and maybe Pavlos. I love to have either the Duke or Duchess of Cambridge asked but I am not optimistic they will be as the Scandanavians are a tight group and the British royals dont really socialise with any others royals beside the Greeks.

I always like names with a meaning-maybe from a relative they appreciate a lot, a historical pesron,a name from a book or national legend would be nice
I think the baby will have more than one name,probably a grandparent name in the middle....I am so excited,now finally people will stop gossiping about Victorias belly all the time *lol* I just hope it will be healthy and grow to be a smart,responsible,kind person later!

Yeah I agree about Charles or William but I figured I put them as heir and heir presumptive to the throne.

Queen Beatrix is one. I believe there's an old thread here on TRF that has info on alot of royal children's christening and godparents. It's a bit more, with Catherine-Amalia's etc. but it does have older royal christenings. I'll see if I can find it again as it was closed.

And Daniel's sister and maybe a friend.

as Victoria was godparent to Christian, Catharina-Amalia, Ingrid and Eleonore, im sure she will invite the parents of those as a matter of friendship and courtesy!!!

Victoria's god parents are King Harald V of Norway, her maternal uncle, Ralf Sommerlath, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, and her aunt Princess Désirée, Baroness Silfverschiöld.

I would even expect to see some of her maternal cousins as a godparent or two. She appears to be close to them as well as several of them have made her godmother to their children.

I can imagine that Victoria chooses half of the goodparents and Daniel chooses the other half.

Oscar and Louisa are currently just as modern as Josephine and Vincent (the danish twins names that were marked as old-fashioned and not kid-friendly last April). Maybe we should take a look at the swedish Top 10/10/50 names so we know what kind of names are currently very popular in Sweden. And maybe we find a match with a name in Victorias family tree.
