34 new Swiss Guards have taken their Oaths at a Ceremony on May 6th
The Ceremony took place on May 6th which marks the date of the 1527 Sack of Rome.
The Swiss Guards at the Vatican were established in 1506 under Julius II.

Royal guests included ,King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia,King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola of Belgium ,Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte of Luxembourg Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco.
