The act today is quite institutional (with the heads of state and government, all political forces, the regional government of Catalonia...) I'm sure nobody would have complained if Letizia were there, but it's quite enough with the King, really. I was sure they would show up later today for a visit to the hospital. That will be finally tomorrow, but you also have to keep in mind the situation is still delicate in Barcelona, with several police operations going on right now and looking for the van's driver, who might be in the city or surroundings. The visits are necessary but can wait for now, and I'm pretty sure the authorities have scheduled it when it's the best timing. And at this point there is little more that F&L can do.
Plus, Felipe might have flied back to Spain this very night-morning to make it to the act, it's quite possible that Letizia and the girls are flying later today on a regular fly - you know Felipe and Leonor are not supposed to go on the same plane, and we don't even know where they were, maybe the flight takes long. The important thing is that the Head of State is going to be present in an act that means unity together with all the maximum authorities in Spain and Catalonia.
I can't say I will be surprised if somebody around here still find reasons to be disappointed
But I'm not. I don't see anything to blame in the way they have handled the situation. It has been in every moment the right thing to do. As with every other authority or administration, btw. Everything is being well handled and I think people in general is calmer today than yesterday.
