It is difficult to messure the exact number of visitors, since the exhibition is open and free to everyone, but we know that the place was visited by several millions during the summer. This means that the exhibition ’Alice Aycock at Royal Djurgården’ probably is the most visited art exhibition in Sweden this year."

The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation builds a permanent Royal Sculpture Park in Stockholm
The Cultural Foundation has acquired its first sculpture for a permanent sculpture park. The sculpture 'Hoop-La' from this year's acclaimed exhibition "Alice Aycock at Royal Djurgården" will remain at Royal Djurgården. In their long-term planning for developing the parkland around Rosendal Palace, the Office of the Governor of the Royal Palaces and the Royal Djurgården Administration have decided to include art as an essential element.
The sculpture was donated by the founders of the Cultural Foundation.

A major step towards strengthening Stockholm's position as a significant cultural city in Europe.
Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation was formed on the initiative of the Crown Princess couple, it's purpose is to highlight cultural activities in Sweden. For many generations art has been close to the heart of the royal family.
The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation will be responsible for the artistic concept at Djurgården with everything from purchasing to planning sculptures. At first the intention was to organize sculpture exhibitions at the park. But now comes the good news that the Foundation has taken a step towards a permanent sculpture park by acquiring its first sculpture, "Hoop-La".

Royal project gives contemporary art a place
Poellinger writes that The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation is linked to a royal tradition when it lays the foundation for a new sculpture park at Djurgården in Rosendal's park area. The Foundation's laudable purpose is to bring in contemporary art, it is very gratifying that a new royal initiative is investing in art in Stockholm. The Foundation has bought the sculpture "Hoop-La" which since last summer has been an eye-catcher on the Rosendal side of Folke Bernadotte bridge, it was part of Alice Aycock's appreciated exhibition, and now the first work in a planned permanent sculpture park.
The impressive vase in garberg granite has been in front of Rosendal Palace since 1826. Karl XIV Johan had transported it from his Elfdals Porphyrverk in Älvdalen. The copy of a Roman vase has got a distinct sculptural quality due to its gigantic size. In this way, the latest sculpture Hoop-La comes close to its first.

This summer Royal Djurgården hosted a fantastic exhibition organised by the Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation, which featured six sculptures by the American artist Alice Aycock. And now one of the sculptures will be a permanent feature here at Royal Djurgården!

Now I could read this interview, obviously it is open for all every now and then.
Sara Sandström Nilsson tells that the Crown Princess Couple has the aim of promoting cultural activities and the focus is to continue to run and develop an already established exhibition project at Royal Djurgården and to build a permanent sculpture park. Sara was asked to be the Foundation's executive director, when it was decided that the exhibitions at Royal Djurgården would no longer be run privately but by a foundation. Her work is a varied, creative, challenging and stimulating and she has the privilege of meeting many knowledgeable and interesting people.
There is a strong royal tradition of supporting cultural life and a conviction that humanities are an important area of ​​society. The Crown Princess couple wants to bring up this and show long-term ambitions through the foundation. The Foundation wants to contribute to a general increased interest in contemporary art, to arouse curiosity by offering art experiences outdoors, in a place that is accessible to all and easy to visit. No entrance fees, no prior knowledge is required. The exhibitions are seen by a lot of people, 15 million people visit The Royal Djurgården annually. The park's first sculpture, Alice Aycock's Hoop-La, is a large format sculpture, where the inspiration is taken from extreme weather conditions such as storms and uncontrollable tornadoes. The shape of the sculpture is powerful and despite the fact that it weighs seven tons, you feel that it is featherlight.
The Foundation is responsible for the artistic content and concept regarding the purchase and placement of sculptures in the park, and this work will take time. Art is an important part of the plan for the Rosendal area. A temporary exhibition will be organized next summer, but the plan is to put a greater focus on building up the permanent sculpture park.

Daniel had today a video meeting with the steering group of Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation.
 
On February 9, the 2021 artistry will be announced. The choice of artist is decided by the foundation's board, which is assisted by an artistic council consisting of Richard Julin, Artistic Leader of Accelerator in Stockholm, Iris Mülller-Westermann, Director of the Moderna Museet in Malmö and Lars Nittve, former Director of Tate Modern in London, Moderna Museet in Stockholm and M + in Hong Kong.

The exhibition will be on display 8 June–26 September. The main piece is an almost eight-meter high site-specific sculpture that is acquired by the foundation and will be included in the future sculpture park in the Rosendal area.
Artists Michael Elmgreen (b. 1961 in Copenhagen) and Ingar Dragset (b. 1969 in Trondheim) live and work in Berlin. Since the beginning of their collaboration in 1995, they have had a distinguished international career, and they are among the most significant and multifaceted artists of our time.
”We are really looking forward to presenting Elmgreen & Dragset outdoors at Royal Djurgården this summer. They have a unique ability to portray important topics in an unexpected and surprising way,” says Sara Sandström Nilsson, Executive Director, Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation.

Sculpture investment on Djurgården
Since 2016, contemporary sculptures have been shown during the summer in the Rosendal area on Djurgården. This year's sculptures by the artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset will be inaugurated on 8 June.
How was the idea for the investment in the sculpture project born?
- The idea was born when the Crown Princess Couple were patrons of Umeå, European Capital of Culture in 2014. They visited Umedalen's Sculpture Park, which aroused an interest in creating something similar in Stockholm. During 2016-2018, temporary sculpture exhibitions were held along Djurgårdsbrunn Canal, together with the Royal Djurgården Administration. From 2019 the sculpture project is run by Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation, which was founded on the initiative of the Crown Princess Couple. The foundation's overall purpose is to promote cultural activities in Sweden. The foundation focuses on contributing to arousing curiosity and interest in contemporary art through the sculpture project. The long-term goal is to establish a permanent world-class sculpture park in the Rosendal area.
Sandström Nilsson tells that the new unique over eight meters high sculpture Life Rings of Elmgreen and Dragset, will be a new landmark on Södra Djurgården. It is Elmgreen & Dragset's first public sculpture in Stockholm and the second work at Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation's permanent collection. Sandström Nilsson tells that she has been working with art for almost 25 years.

Svensk Damtidning quotes Dagens Industri Di's paywall article "Heavy business leaders top secret financiers behind the Prince's art venture", where Di reveals which private individuals financed The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation in connection with its creation in 2019.

Svensk Damtidning writes that Daniel has used his contacts in the business world to be able to finance the Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation and make it a real player in the cultural world.
Dagens Industri Di revealed that among the financiers are Spotify founders Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, Volvo's Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg, Kinnevik's owner Cristina Stenbeck and celebrity billionaire Erik Selin.
How much money the financiers have contributed is not public, but it is one and the same lump sum.
The second permanent work that the Foundation will install in Rosendal's sculpture park will be "Life Rings" by the well-known artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset.
"We are very proud that Elmgreen & Dragset's sculpture will be a permanent contribution to the sculpture park. The work highlights how we all, especially in these times, are dependent on each other. It embodies a global desire for increased community, solidarity and cross-border collaborations", Daniel writes in an email to Dagens Industri.

Cristina Stenbeck is also a founding partner of Generation Pep via her own foundation, and Cristina and her husband Alexander Fitzgibbons are Daniel and Victoria's good friends..

In its work, the board enlists the help of an artistic council with international credentials consisting of Richard Julin, Iris Müller-Westerman and Lars Nittve. The Foundation's activities are financed through private individuals donations.

On June 8 at 14:00, The National Museum of Science and Technology (= Tekniska) together with The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation broadcasts an exclusive lecture in Tekniska's auditorium. After the lecture, Tekniska presents summer's two art education programs, developed in collaboration with Konstfack and The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation. They are based entirely on the sculpture Life Rings which has been acquired by the The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation and is the second permanent work in the future sculpture park in the Rosendal area. The artwork, which consists of a cluster of lifebuoys in steel linked in an eight-meter chain, is located by the walking path next to the Djurgårdsbrunn canal opposite the National Maritime Museum.
Art education programs
Tekniska will, from 13 June during the summer, offer two art activities, What does your lifebuoy look like and Who are you a lifebuoy for. The art activities reflect Elmgreen & Dragset artwork and have been developed in collaboration with The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation.
