The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer: 29 July 1981

I disagree with you.For me, the only mistake of the dress are the sleeves in the high part of the dress ,that might be narrowed, because the low part of the sleeves are beautiful, like those dresses of Marie Antoniette´s time. The bow of the dress is beautiful too ,and she looks beautiful in her wedding dress ,like a fairy tale princess.:flowers:

I have to say I disagree too. I think Princess Diana's wedding dress is lovely and it's like a fairytale. I've seen her wedding dress in person at the Princess Diana's exhibition 5 years ago. I also saw her train and it was very long train.

I thought Diana was a stunningly beautiful bride but it was a shame about all those creases in her dress when she stepped out of the carriage at St Paul's Cathedral.
Some 1 can tell me how that facial veil get out? When Diana enter she have the tiara above the veil...so if Charles put the veil back the tiara stay down and that don't hapen...so some1 have pics from that moment or remember or see in some place?
Apparently, that bit had to be cut off.

What happened was that during the ceremony the couple and their witnesses signed the registry away from the sanctuary and the veil was re-arranged at that point, out of the view of the cameras. The TV crews probably concentrated on a lengthy musical performance at that point in time so as not to leave the viewers with nothing to look at.

This is probably a dumb question but do the British Royals usually take their first kiss at church cause I noticed Charles and Diana didn't but I think Peter and Autumn did I can't member about Edward and Andrew.

I think if we want to talk "traditional", it's not traditional for the BRF to have a kiss. Charles and Diana broke tradition with the kiss on the balcony, Andrew and Sarah repeated it.

Since Edward didn't get married near BP, there wasn't the balcony kiss... but I'm not sure if there was a kiss elsewhere that was recorded (my guess is no).

IMO kissing in public is more for the pleasure of the public than for any other reason (as far as the BRF go). It's probably a matter for the individual couples to decide.

As Charles and Edward got married in different eras, attitudes weren't the same as they are today.

Thanks for the links Zubiaur.

It truly was the wedding of the century.

I don't mind a public kiss. It's just that, until the turn of the 20th century, most royal marriages were rather private events, not the great spectacles that we've beco)e accustomed to. So it wasn't really necessary to have a kiss (just think of Prinny and Princess Caroline attempting a public kiss!!). But you can't really say the kiss has been traditional until recently.

If Kate and Wm get married, I would expect a kiss--and probably one from the exuberant Prince Harry. It's probably a new tradition that's here to stay.

thank you steven .I have nevr seen befor this two pix.they are very

Charles & Diana: The Fairytale Ends - Photo Gallery, 35 Pictures - LIFE

Diana's wedding dress looks like a fairy tale, which comes true one day.:)
Her wedding dress is displayed in the Philadelphia nowaday, the name of the exhibition is "People's Princess".:)

I'm sorry that I don't have the source material at hand, but Sophie and Edward were supposed to have kissed when they went to sign the registers off-camera after their vows.:flowers:

I guess you haven't seen Mabel's dress then! :whistling:
Diana's dress was a disaster by today's standards, it resembles a huge wedding cake, and not very appetizing one too.
However, I still think Diana looked lovely on her wedding day: she resembled a doll dressed up like a Princess in a huge puffy dress with a tiara. And she was glowing.
The dress was overwhelming, yes, but it was still fairytale too. :)

Well, in some way I agree. Maybe Marsel's post reflects my feelings the best. Diana's wedding dress' style isn't really what I like or prefer as usual (and I especially hate the fashion of the 80ies as well! :D). But a few months ago I watched a documentary about the wedding and I must confess, I just thought: WOW. The veil and the Tiara were stunning, really like a fairy tale. The dress was just overwhelming and nearly baroque. It suited to the 80ies and for the little girl in me it was really beautiful. ;) But in fact my real favourites are completely different.

Without a doubt, Diana's dress didnt stand the test of time (say like a Princess Elizabeth of Great Britain or Princess Grace of Monaco)....she definitely got caught up in the decade.

I remember getting up to watch the dress at the crack of dawn and thought she look magnificient. I still do. Diana was a beautiful bride. The 80's dress not withstanding.

this pic very interesting. Her tiara is very beautiful. Thanks queenofthelight :flowers:

I have to point out again, that the photographed tiara is not one that Diana experts ever saw her wear. We don't know if the wedding tiara from the Spencer family is included in the exhibit.

I have no words to describe the last photo, gorgeous. She looks Cinderella in a faitytale.I love the wedding cake. Thanks dear maryamj.
Queenofthelight, thanks for posting photos of the exhibition,I would like to visit it.Does anyone knows if i can get information of the next places it goes?

Oh my...who can top this wedding of the century? Maybe their two sons? To be more precise...*Prince William*....hohoho

Thanks gfg02,for these wonderful photos.I like these specially.Diana in the carriage as Cinderella ,as a true fairy tale princess, she looks gorgeous in her wedding dress:flowers:It is a pleasure to see all these photos.Wonderful wedding

I think, I missed this picture here:

Getty Images - Unsupported browser detected

It's the official group photograph of the entire family with other royal guests. Does someone have this picture in a better quality maybe? :flowers:
I only ask because I find it very hard to identify someone in this picture.

It was broadcast the night before the wedding, I believe. I missed it, but my sister saw it. I saw the whole thing fairly recently via YouTube. It's fascinating to watch in retrospect. Prince Charles looks at Diana more than she looks at him, and his mouth twitches when he's asked about making his vows. Thanks for posting this and refreshing my memory, LadyAnn. :)

Diana sounds so much like Keira Knightly. Are they from the same area?

Its a nice video... but the chairs looks very unconfortable and looks like they are made to keep distance between the people sitting in them... It doesnt looks like Carles and Diana are sitting together, just beside each other, if you understand what I mean.... but thats not their fault, probably TVs fault :)And to ask a future queen if she can cook is:  I mean, she doesnt have to cook at all if she doesnt want to... and from a feministic point of view its terrible... Why dont ask Charles the same question?
