A huge, huge disappointment for me again - Victoria wears that awful Connaught Tiara again. Luckily her other jewellery is wonderful. And she looks great on her dress, the colour really suits her.
Madeleine looks good on that tiara, but grey isn't the best colour for her.
Sofia has her brooch at the sash very poorly placed. And her tiara is once again too high on her head.
I'm not so fond of queen Silvia's dress, but she is very regal as always.

Actually the Connaught tiara looks great on Victoria now that she has her hair a bit softer and not pulled back so straight. Silvia also looks good but it is a pity that she did not wear the ruby tiara with that gown.

All the Royal ladies look fabulous!

I disagree about the Connaught tiaras. :flowers: It's a delicate piece an I love it. Imo, Victoria's hairs today is much better complementing the tiara than at the wedding.

About Madeleine's grey gown I can only agree, it's not a good colour on her. But tiara and hair are beautifull and she looks lovely.

I like Sofia's gown, but her tiara will somehow need different hair.

About the Queen, I fear that doesn't look very special. I'm not saying that she looks bad, bad her usual Nobel spark is missing, or is it just me?

I couldn't see Princess Christina well, but there was another tiara wearing lady sitting with them. I couldn't see her properly, but was it perhaps Madeleine Kogevinas?

That is a matter of taste. I hate the Connaught as a tiara on everyone and especially on Victoria. As a necklace it is nice. It is a girly and thin tiara, and it doesn't suit Victoria at all. She needs a regal tiara and simple tiara like the Baden Fringe or the big Cut Steel Tiara. She is a strong and regal woman and girly things are not for her.

Yes, Madeleine Kogevinas is there

the Queen has worn this combination of Nine Pronge tiara with a diamond rieviere quiet a few times in the last years. My guess is that lets now Victoria shine.
Here is a pic of Princess Christina entering. is that Madeleine Kogevinas behind her?

That's true. I dislike the Connaught tiara as necklace because then it is so bulky.

What a nice surprise to see Madeleine Kogevinas (and her tiara :biggrin). It's always nice to see members of the extended family there. Has anbody spotted Countess Bettina Bernadotte already?

And here is another surprise for a tiara lover like you, countess Bettina Bernadotte af Wisborg with a tiara, with her husband Philipp Haug.

Thanks LadyFinn! That indeed is another surprise because she usually doesn't wear a tiara at the Nobels (at least she hasn't at her last few attendances). This is a tiara with multicoloured stones, though you can't see it well in this pic. It has been worn by Count Lennart's first wife as well as by Bettina ot Victoria's wedding.

Sofia looks wonderful, even Madeleine looks pretty, and I will admit that this dress suits Victoria better than the dress she wore last year. Big, poufy ballgowns are not her thing.

I see nothing wrong with the placement of Sofia's tiara. Placing it more to the forefront on her head would make her look like a girl, teenage like. And she is no longer a teenager, she is an expectant mother.
As far as I see Madeleine's tiara is placed in the same position and there is nothing wrong with that so I don't see why a 'fuss' is being made over Sofia's tiara.

And is it me or does Christopher look tired? Not meant as an attack, insult or anything, just an observation.

Madeleines tiara is placed a little bit backwards and not upright like Sofia''s. I think Sofia's should have also placed a little bit backweards.

Because there is a different in hairstyles, for one, and a difference in the make of the tiaras. The Aquamarine kokoshnik is made in a way that it doesn't look awkward when sitting the way it does. Sofia's emerald tiara is lacking something. A better hairstyle, a better base, etc. It looks childish, imo, the way it sits on her head. Like a regular person who bought a cheap tiara (not that the tiara itself is actually cheap) from a store for her wedding and just plopped it on her head. It needs more give on the sides to help it sit better on her head.

So yes, there is a big difference between the two.

I really love all the ladies dresses, but I'm going to have to have a fuller look at Madeleine's dress to decide if the tiara combo works, and someone's going to have to figure out what to do with Sofia's tiara. It looks pretty, but the placement on her head is not right - too high on the head, I think.

I will start by saying that I am not a huge fan of this particular tiara. And,I agree that the placement is off, but I think it looks that way because of the hair style itself. If she had done something a little "poofy" in the front, the tiara would not have looked so far back. (like Madeleine's). Also, not a fan of the dress with the tiara. (okay, not a fan of the dress at all)

I think Sofia and Madeleine look beautiful as always.

I have taken a closer look and I see what's being meant.
I suppose she's remaining true to herself (good for her) and it does spark disussion. Perhaps a different placing would have looked better but I won't say this does not look good. I like it. She wears things her own way and she doesn't sway outside the Nobel borders (if there are any).

This is also only her 2nd tiara wearing event. I'm sure as time goes on she'll start to play with it more.

I dont think that the brooch is poorly place it seems like there are various ways to place it. The Connaught on Victoria was well fitting with the amethyst jewelry sets.

Victoria looks so pretty.

When will the streaming of the Banquet start? On svt? I followed the ceremony on the youtube channel earlier but can't find the link for the banquet!

Wow, so any surprises tonight! The Swedish court certainly didn't let us down. Victoria with the Connaught tiara and amythist necklace, Madeleine Bernadotte (daughter of Prince Carl) present with tiara, Bettina Bernadotte with tiara and last but not least Pss Madeleine with the aquamarine tiara of her aunt. It looks spectacular on her.

The Queen did not surprise us as she put on the party antlers. Although it is one of her best tiaras I also find it one of the ugliest. Sofia giving her own tiara and lovely earrings a second go, which was expected. And finally there is Pss Christina with the 6-buttons, which is a relief as she is the only one who can show the tiara to its best advantage.

I didn't find any of the dresses spectacular -like last years red dress of Victoria, but they all look nice.

Wow, Princess Madeleine looks amazing with he aquamarine tiara. Crown Princess Victoria looks lovely. I really like the dress. I like the earrings of Sofia.

hmmm...for some reason the Queens dress looks as if it needs a little "fluffing" under the skirt area to make it lay right. Something like a petticoat? It just looks as if it was made to have some sort of underskirt under it and she did not want to wear it. But all in all, she looks good. Victoria...not sure I like the to part of the dress with that sheer cape like top. I think it would have looked better if it were a full dress with sleeves, but she looks good as well. Dress looks better when she stands rather than sitting also.
I would like to see better, full, top to bottom pics of both Madeline and Sofia. Madeline looks good from what I saw and not sure I like the top part of Sofia's dress, but that could change once I see the full version.
But all ladies still look lovely regardless. A little less "regal" than previous years, but lovely just the same.

I think better pics of the gownswill come when he royals descend the stairs into the banqueting hall. Can't be long now.

I guess the Queen's gown is made so that she can wear it with different tops.

After much debate and careful thought, I have decided that Madeleine is my best dressed this year. The tiara loaned from her Aunt is the tipping point for me. She just looks wonderful. The color of the dress, the design and fit are all very good on her.

Thank you for putting it in words I could not find. I kept looking at the picture of Sofia's tiara and thought something is off there, yet what? I think it was maybe made to small for her head, like maybe the sides of the tiara should be long so that it can be placed better on her. Just sitting on top of her head makes it look awkward to me, this is just MO now.:)

I must say i love the victoria's outifit and tiara, but I am particularly fond of her amethysts jewellery. I really like the whole outfit of the Queen. I must disagree with most of you as I am not very fond of madeleine's tiara, even though i do believe she looks great today. I'm afraid i don't like sofia's tiara not dress, I like the upper part though.

Somehow in close-ups Crown Princess Victoria looks sad, maybe just tired. I don't mean to speculate about nothing. Just noticed cos her smile is usually megawatt, from mouth to eyes!
