Yuriko, Princess Mikasa has been hospitalized for shingles at St. Luke's International Hospital on June 8th. Her husband has been at the same hospital since May 16th, recovering from acute pneumonia.

From 25th June to 27th June, HIH Princess Nobuko of Mikasa visited Fukuoka Prefecture to attend the 99th Lions Clubs International Convention. On 27th June, HIH Princess Nobuko visited Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine in Dazaifu City.
Also, Princess Akiko on rice cultivation in Asahi. (I guess it's a monthly article she's writing?)
On July 14th, Princess Yoko visited the Miyagi prefectural government of Aoba-ku, Sendai for the announcement of the "sobering independence support" award, which honors individuals and organizations supporting people with disabilities. Social welfare corporation "Arinomamasha" is a sponsor and the late Prince Tomohito served as its president. Princess Yoko was appointed selection committee chairman of the award last October.

On July 12th, the IHA announced Princess Yoko of Mikasa will privately travel to the US for the 7th International Institute for Applied Ergonomics Conference. She will depart on July 29th for the 5 day trip.

Thanks for the update!On July 26th, Princess Yoko attended the opening ceremony of the 51st National dojo boy Kendo Tournament in Tokyo. 958 teams of elementary and junior high school students qualified and about 4800 people are participating. The tournament is sponsored by All Japan Kendo dojo Federation, Mainichi Newspapers, and Lion Corporation. Princess Yoko encouraged "win or lose, please face the game so as not to leave regrets."
