He was talking about a football player I thought..and then joked about naming a son after the player....

Yes, he made a joke about naming his son after footballer Jack Grealish....or Jackie if a girl.

This is wonderful news and I am glad it was a relatively smooth delivery (there is no such thing as an easy delivery). I wonder when Prince Charles will visit his new grandson.

Most on time Baby of the three. Also the heaviest. And with the coolest sister of them all. ;)

Mom once again proved the crazy good genes she came from, childbirth-wise. In a room full of women telling their childbirth horror stories, Kate loses hands down. And how nice for her!

Land Rover US has a fairly lousy US web page. And comparative car reviews here tend to focus on non-Land-Rover Models. So I could not determine this.

Even though the family split up to go home, I was wondering if/how their SUV could handle three cars seats.

In the US, children are now encouraged to stay in car seats until around six years of age and even then, to use a booster seat until 10-12. By those standards, C and W will need to fit 3 car seats into the family vehicle. When they all drive together. And there are relatively few car models that do this very well. One option is to have two car seats in the second row and a third in the 3rd row. Somehow, I envision that being as problematic it was when I was a kid and we all had to fit into a station wagon. :frazzled::hornets::seestars::voodoo:

Whatever - does anyone know if the Cambridge kids are still using car seats (I am guessing yes, since Dad had to open doors and tuck in before they popped out) and how/if the LR Discovery can handle 3 across kid seat installation?

What a joyous day! And that Charlotte is stealing all our hearts. George has first-child syndrome, so I empathize with him. Kate looked GRAND. And Wills looked like he has this whole act down.

Congrats to them and to us all!

Even mid size sedans can do it, you just have to have the proper car seat model. But the Discovery/Range Rover (I've seen the family in both), could easily fit three across the back.

Both George and Charlotte are still in car seats. The laws in the UK are similar to the us. Youth must be in a proper car seat until they reach the age of 12 years or 135cm in height.

Fabulous news for Prince William and Catherine! The happiest days are when babies are born!

Love Charlotte but also going to put in a plug for the Prince Georges of the world. The children who eye adults with everything from cautious optimism to scorn. The wary, pensive types who melt your heart when you finally earn their trust and hear their laugh.

George is the oldest, with the hardest and likely most exceptional path ahead. Perhaps the way he appears to be wired will serve him well. Who knows?

Charlotte: Hi, love ya!

George: Later. Make an appointment with my person.

New HRH: Today I AM THE BABY. HOMAGE MUST BE PAID.

Fun thread, this one.

So funny, LadyGlendower. :flowers: Love this: "George: Later. Make an appointment with my person." ;) And agree regarding what is on his shoulders. P.S. In fact, Charlotte's personality, her comfort with the glare of the footlights, might be to George's advantage. He can just do his thing and be left alone while everyone chortles over Charlotte. ;)

I just had a feeling it was going to be a boy! Welcome to the world, little prince! You have two siblings that look like they are going to have no trouble keeping you entertained. Or maybe you'll be keeping them entertained?

Either way, congratulations to the Cambridges!

Absolutely love that people are already speculating on the baby boy's future ducal title! Oh the life of a royal baby. ?:flowers: Let's get the name and baptism-related speculation in order first though. :D:D

Details of the day from Omid Scobie - "Inside the "Relaxed" Birth of Kate Middleton & Prince William's New Royal Baby Boy":

https://www.harpersbazaar.com/celebrity/latest/a19973176/kate-middleton-royal-baby-boy-birth-plan/

"Kensington Palace held the big announcement back until 1:02 PM to give Prince William time to personally call the Queen and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with the happy news"

And what about Michael & Carole Middleton, Philippa & James Matthews, James Middleton?
They are grandparents, aunt and uncles, so they also had right to know before the public gets to know.

And what makes you think that the Middleton 's did not ?

Maybe Catherine called them.

Probably yes, but was it wrong to just mention them in the article? Are they "less important" to the little Prince?
William also could call them all, Catherine was probably resting after the birth.

You can't expect an article that talks about 'Duchess Camilla' to get all the facts right. William or Catherine might even have called a few friends and/or other family members...

Both families were notified before the announcement was made.

Is there a hope that the little one's name will be announced today?

I just saw the "official" statement which was placed on the Forecourt of Buckingham Palace yesterday. I suspect that the baby's gender was already known to "insiders" because everything in the statement was typed out except for the time which was handwritten. JMHO

Or they did two Versions...

I think it will be tomorrow morning. Not today. Charlotte's name annoucement was made two days after her birth, and I think with George happened the same. So tomorrow we will know the baby's name for sure. I'm so excited.

The first official pictures of the baby will probably be released at the end of May/beginning of June. Charlotte was born May 2nd and her first pictures (with her brother) were released June 7th. So my bet is the last week of May to see the pictures. It will be cuteness overload, I'm sure Catherine will take pictures with the three of them together.:flowers:
