I liked the decorating of the table very much ,,, and it’s easily to see the person sitting on other side ,,,, because the flower stand is high not low so you can see everything well ,,, But in pics you see That ,, because it’s taking the shots from different corners , That’s why looks too much things on ,,, but in real I’m sure it looks different :flowers: ,,, because Of table etiquette you should feel comfortable in sitting and see other side very well , and i guess windsor castle knows well in this Etiquette

I think Spheno posted the video to give a better idea of sitting arrangement at Windsor during State Banquets. It helped too; for instance, it is apparent that the consorts (Prince Philip and Sheikha Mozah) sit directly opposite their spouses, and not on the same side of the table. :)
 
HM and Camilla look lovely and Order sashes look good on Camilla. I wasn't too sure about that, as like me, she's rather...Trying to say this in a way that's not offensive...gifted in a certain region of the body. That doesn't always mean Order sashes will drape across the body well, but Camilla managed it tonight and very well at that.

Wish we could see a picture of Sophie, as I'd love to see if it's another outing for the stunning Aquamarine tiara she wore for the festivities in Luxembourg last month. Same w/Anne, as I love the Meander and it really does suit Anne so well.

One question...What is the Order sash the DoE's wearing? It's not the Garter sash, but looks like a striped green one. I'm assuming an Order he's been awarded by Kuwait and the Emir, but not sure about that either. Anyone know?

I have said the same about Camilla. She could ear the stomachers, and more of the jewelry like Queen Mary wore. They are both tall and busty.

Prince Philip is wearing the badge and sash of the Member Special Class of the Order of Kuwait. The Grand Cordon (or Special Class) is the highest class of the Order and is reserved only for Princes and Heads of Government.

Incidentally, this is a brand new honour for the Prince because previously only the Queen and Prince Charles had honours from the country (in the Queen's case - Collar of the Order of Mubarak the Great and Member Spcial Class of the Order of Kuwait, and in Prince Charles' case - Member of the Order of Mubarak the Great).

The sash of the Special class is described as green with two white stripes, which corresponds to what Prince Philip is wearing perfectly. One thing though; the sash is supposed worn over the right shoulder - and not the left one as Prince Philip has done. The badge is worn suspended from a ribbon and the badge - on the left breast (both corresponding to how the Duke wore them).

The DOE and POW are both wearing coats with red collars. I never remember seeing this before. The pictures are small - so I was not sure if they were dress military or something else. Does anyone have an explanation?

No idea why the DoE's wearing the sash the other way than it should be. Maybe it was awarded just before everyone went to their respective rooms to dress and not enough time to have that information given? Maybe?
 
We posted at the same time Admirer, but I can sort of answer your question...

Yes, it is the Dress Uniform of one of the regiments in the UK Armed Services and I've seen both Phillip and Charles wear it on various formal occasions. I can't tell what Dress Uniform it's representing though. Sorry for the incomplete answer, but the best I can do. I'm sure one of our British friends here will be able to fill in the rest. :)

Thanks, Tiggersk8 - I see the medals and I get it now. Does anyone know why some state banquets the guys wear military dress and at others they wear white tie? (or black tie, when it is only black tie)?

They didn't wear a military uniform; it was still an evening suit - but one worn exclusively at Windsor. Prince Charles and Prince Philip wore the Windsor Uniform.

The uniform was originally introduced by George III in 1779. Most of the gold detailing of the original is obviously no longer used these days but the undress consisting of a dark blue jacket with red at the collar and cuffs is still used.

The Windsor Uniform can only be worn at Windsor Castle and only by male members of the Royal Family (and, in rare cases, senior courtiers). Since Edward VII's reign, it is mostly worn just as an evening dress although Prince Charles has worn a variation of it for his engagement interview with Camilla, as well as (another variation) a riding coat.

The uniform takes the form of an evening tail coat of dark blue cloth with scarlet collar and cuffs. There are three buttons on each front two at the back of the waist, and two at the end of each tail, and also two on each cuff and one above. The gilt buttons bear a design of a Garter star within a garter, surmounted by the imperial crown.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a State Banquet this evening in honour of The Amir of the State of Kuwait at which The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and The Duke of Kent were present.
 
Why didnt Prince Charles go to airport to wlcome him?
I understand he either goes to airport or harbour to welcome all foreign HoS on State Visit, atleast Monarchs. Early in Queen's reign her uncle Duke and Duchess of Gloucester used to go.
Here is a video of Prince Charles welcoming the Saudi King at the airport.
Why didnt he go for Kuwait Amir? Is that because of difference in'status' of bith? But both are HoS..

You are right that the PoW usually picks up the HoS at the airport when they arrive, and then escorts them straight to Horse Guards or Windsor, wherever the state visit is being hosted from. Howeer, in this case, the Amir arrived a day early, and had some private time before the commencement of the state visit.
