This picture taken in 1998 shows Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej (R) harvesting some of the rice at his Royal Initiated Project in the eastern province of Prachinburi. Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, 04 June 2006 has reigned for 60 years, more than any living monarch, helping to keep the nation unified through a period of often turbulent change. He has few legal powers but wields enormous influence over his people, who revere him with an almost god-like devotion that confounds outsiders more accustomed to the tabloid treatment of European royals.

Queen Sirikit (born August 12, 1932), is the wife and Queen Consort of Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), King of Thailand. Her formal name and title is Somdej Phra Nangchao Sirikit Phra Boromarajininat (Her Majesty Queen Sirikit)
HM The Queen Born as Mom Rajawongse Sirikit Kitiyakara, she was the first daughter of Colonel Mom Chao Nakkhatra Mangkala Kitiyakara (who was given the title Prince Chanthaburi Suranath after the royal marriage), a relative and close supporter of the Royal Family, and of Mom Luang Bua Kitiyakara (nee Mom Luang Bua Snidwongse). The title "Mom Rajawongse" indicates that she is a child of a Mom Chao (the most junior class of Thai princes) and thus descended from royalty. Her name, auspiciously granted by King Prajadhipok, means "the illustrious member of Kitiyakara".
Sirikit was born at the house of General Chao Phraya Wongsanuprapat (Mom Rajawongse Staan Snidwongse), her maternal grandfather, in Bangkok and was educated at Saint Francis Xavier, a Catholic convent school. During her childhood her father was successively Thai Ambassador to France, Denmark and the United Kingdom, and Sirikit continued her education in these countries and in Switzerland.
While studying in Switzerland Sirikit met Bhumibol Adulyadej, who although King was then still a minor and also studying in Switzerland. When the King was injured in a motor accident and was in a hospital at Lausanne, Sirikit was a frequent visitor. On July 19, 1949, they were engaged in Lausanne. On March 1950, the King returned to Thailand to take up his royal duties. Sirikit accompanied him and on April 28 the royal wedding took place at Pathumwan Palace.
When the King undertook a period of service as a Buddhist monk in 1956 (as is customary for all Thai Buddhist males), Sirikit became Regent. She performed her duties so satisfactorily that she was made "Somdej Phra Boromarajininat" (Queen Regent) and given the style of "Somdej Phra Nangchao Sirikit Phra Boromarajininat".
Although the marriage was dynastic, it has proved highly successful. The couple have four children

Automobiles and toys of the Royal Family
I am seeking information about a Cadillac automobile that was delivered in 1930 to the grandfather (I believe) of current Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn. About 5 years ago, that car was was being cleaned up in Brussels, Belgium, before being returned to Bangkok for the fuller enjoyment of its present, royal owner. My question is this: can someone supply me with a photo of the car (as it looks today) for the "Cadillac Database" which inludes a roster of survivors of these truly superb, sixteen-cylinder automobiles [www.car-nection.com/yann/Dbas_txt/V6srv30.htm]. The attached factory photo is from the "Cadillac Database" (©1930, Cadillac Motor Car Division, General Motors).

In addition, I seek information about an electric toy automobile gifted by King Rama IV to his great-grandson, Prince Chula Chakrabongse when he was 4 years old. It was restored in the mid-seventies, on behalf of the Thai royal family, by Mr. David Weguelin, CEO of PROJX, The Tabletop Production Company, Ltd. of Piccadilly, London. In the photo [below] are Geoffrey and Mona, children of the toy's maker, Frederick S. Bennett, who was the Cadillac automobile dealer in London (Photo ©1912, Robert C. Hi - I've just joined this forum. I'm a British man living in Thailand since 2002. I'm currently following a Master's degree in Thai Studies at Chulalongkorn University.
One of my lesser projects concerns vintage photos of King Chulalongkorn, especially the well-known photos that are often found in houses in Thailand. I do have 'copies' of many of them, but I'm missing a copy of the photo which shows HM relaxing in a chair by a river or lake, and smoking a 'cheroot'. It's a well-known photo and I've seen it in many houses, but now that I actually want a copy of this photo I cannot find one!
Can anyone help?

I enjoyed a great deal watching these old photos, and how Thai people loves His Majesty Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit. They are these kind of "old fashioned" Monarchs I always liked.
I think that people should learn a lot about Asian Monarchies.
The photos are amazing, and I hope there will be more.
Oh, by the way...I LOVE the "Royal Dog"! He was adorable!
