King, US defense secretary discuss ties, Mideast
Amman, Aug. 2 (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II on Thursday received US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, who is currently visiting the Kingdom within a tour of the region.

Talks dealt with means of forging closer ties between Jordan and the United States, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East, mainly the situation in Syria.

His Majesty King Abdullah II has said that time is running out for a political transition in Syria and warned that the failure to reach an end to the crisis soon will lead to a dangerous escalation in sectarian violence that would touch off a full-blown and disastrous civil war whose effects may last for years.

(Petra)--His Royal Highness Prince Raad Bin Zeid, the Regent on Wednesday visited the Public Security Department (PSD) where he met with Director of the PSD General Hussein Majali.
