Well , the way they treated this tiara so far I wouldn't be suprised if we saw it for the first time on Leonor's head when her official 18th birthday portrait is taken:p

and the aquamarin tiara were not sold to the spanish royal family it was worn in luxenbourg

It was worn by Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg, who's a granddaughter of the late Infanta Beatriz of Spain.

:previous: .... and I think, this is the most beautiful tiara of Spain....
so taste is different.

I agree. It always reminds me of a tiara that would suit the Childlike Empress from The Neverending Story. I like the fantasy element to it, and I prefer it when it's worn with the hanging teardrop diamond in the center.

True, not unlike the Delhi Durbar one.
Still, it is a gorgeous piece so if I had it, I'd be prepared to put up with a headache afterwards. ;)

Absolutely gorgeous. May I borrow it, please?

Its a beautiful piece, one of my favourites. There's a wonderful photo of the late mother of the King wearing it in the early 50's.

It is really a beautiful tiara. But i think the way Queen Sofia wears it is to wide. Perhaps they should close it a bit more so that i becomes a bit more round.

Yes I was thinking that too,it would be amazing to see it in that shape!

I am not really a fan of the tiara but I absolutely love this ruby necklace and earrings! They are just exquisite. One of my favorite pieces from the Spanish royal jewels. I can't wait to see it on Letizia one day.

They are splendid, but I'm not fond of the way Queen Sofia wears them as a tiara,I think they need a bit more volume of height to show them off.

Seeing as Letizia has a disdain for jewels we might not see her wearing them ;)

Beautiful rubies, but I don't like the strand worn as a tiara. It just looks like a necklace placed in her hair.

I love the Mellerio Floral Tiara, but I especially love it as a necklace:

I would love to see it more worn as a necklace. Most of all, I would love to see Letizia wear it like that.

Thanks for those pictures. The Floral tiara transformed into a necklace is a rare sight. I prefer this piece of jewellery as tiara, and I find the necklace is too bulky to be worn, especially on Letizia is wouldnt look good as she is so petite.

In general it is wishful thinking to see ANY jewellery on Letizia, and State Visits dont seem to happen any longer since the crisis came up, the last State Visit in 2011 went ahead even without tiaras.

I don't like it in the necklace form, its a lovely piece as a tiara and works better that way I think.Goodness knows when we'll see another Spanish tiara event in the near future!

I definitely like the Mellorio better worn as a tiara. Too chunky in necklace form.

Sofia's wedding earrings look very stunning. I hope we can find better photos. I also wonder what the necklace looks like.

From the photo's I've seen I think Queen Sofia is wearing a Pearl necklace but perhaps someone with more close up photo's may disprove this.

I don't believe Sofia is wearing a pearl necklace. It appears to be diamonds, possibly with a crucifix at the end. I haven't found out much about this necklace (whether it is Sofia's property or if it belongs to Greece or Spain), but I'll keep looking.

I agree! This is definitely a diamond necklace -not pearl. I can't tell if that is a crucifix, but it very likely is.

I love the curve at the bottom.

Sofia's tiaras:

The Royal Watcher

Excluding the ruby tiara and the Prussian tiara, I love all the tiaras here. My favorite overall is the Fleur de Lys Tiara. Too bad it's been, I think, five years since she's last worn it.

The Mellerio Shell Tiara is my least favourite Spanish tiara, the rubies are very lovely but I don't like the way Queen Sofia wears them as a tiara, they seem to be lost in her hairdo and maybe need a better base.
