Prince Leopold's proposal of marriage was not well received by Princess Louise-Marie's father.
Belgium was a brand new country.
It was not until the summer of 1832 that King Louis Philippe I of the French agreed to the marriage.

Musée Condé of the castle of Chantilly will host an exposition about Queen Louise Marie. It will start on October 19th and lasts until February 16th 2025.

What a wonderful exhibition but also what a shame the Belgian RF have not a single piece of jewellery that once belonged to the 1st Belgian Queen Consort .
It would have been marvellous to see queen Mathilde wearing a piece of jewellery that was once worn by Louise Marie today.
