Princess Laurentien

I like Princess Laurentien's very feminine roundings in today's gown, typically as always à Laurentinoise (on the edge).

She is in her forties and a mother of two cute countesses and a count and looks incredibly good.

Maxima looks so great in combo of black and white

and HM Queen looks so nice in their outfits and include hats well done, your majesty

Princess Laurentien looks so nice also in their purple outfits and hats also

Thank you all for sharing so many beautiful pics on this special day. Everyone looked great. Laurentien was quite a surprise to me. I feared that she would want to stand, and she did, but in a sober and elegant way.

Nothing to add to your cumpliments to Máxima. The flower was a good choice, I don't think hats suits with long dresses...

Thank you Henri M. for all you contributions in this thread; you make such precise descriptions and in a such formal tone I tend to ask myself "OMG, and I'm wearing so... normal to attend this!".

Thank you very much your incomes are always very appreciated.

Regards,
mtbcm

All ladies wore nice colours.

Beatrix: mix of pyramidal and chinese hat or hats, little to big sleeves, about her gown colours it the depend of the lights that's once there're light and other time are dark.
Maxima: simple elegant and stunning, maybe she should wore her head-dress little higher or just a hat?:king:
Laurentien: again her own style, it would be much better if she would wore a bra. Btw she has good legs:cool:
Margriet: interesting dress.

Thanks to Henri M. for the links and to all for the photos.

Thanks to all for the pictures! :flowers:

To go short, I only liked Maxima's outfit. Beatrix chose dull colours, I didn't really care about Margriet's and Laurentien looked great if it wasn't for the corset. But of course, I enjoyed it all a great deal, I always love seeing them together no matter what they wear! ;)

Maxima looks amazing (nothing new there)! Love the white and black combo and the flower hairpiece, which only she can pull off.
Maxima's outfit was well done, but "the only one who could pull off" the combo of black/white skirt plus jacket plus fake flower in hair? Well I know I think what you're trying to say, although I think it's the kind of classic outfit that would have looked equally great on millions of females, Laurentien included.

Speaking of Laurentien, two thumbs up for her outfit!:flowers:

By the way, you non-Dutchies may not know that the auditorium this ceremony was held in, the centuries-old Ridderzaal, which means Knight's Hall and has been a focal point for this nation for the past few hundred years, has been completely renovated this year, throne included! All materials originate from the Netherlands, except the cloth for the throne (and where they got it from is my guess--Italy maybe? It looks velvet-y doesn't it! Love the pattern!

Well yes that corset I didn't like either, but as Henri M said, it was very Laurentien! And overall the dress was a huge improvement on most everything else she's worn over the past years, with the notable exception of her lovely wedding dress!

Sorry for my question but how old is Prinsjesdag tradition?

Maxima- looks great! She is Stunning!
Laurentien- good choice as for her. I am surprised not see on her usual multi-colored something!:flowers:
Beatrix-I agree that her outfit color is dull, but great hat as always!

Maxima looks everyday more like Evita.
Well admittedly there is definitely a resemblance, superficially & facially especially, although Eva Peron couldn't hold a candle, looks wise, to WA's wife. Of course, both were/are known for their sort of populist attitude, and both were/are spouses-of. This is hopefully where the similarities end!

Because let's face it, Evita was a manipulative control freak and ruthless social climber not to mention a fascist (yes yes, Maxima's dad was affiliated with a fascist regime too of course, but let's forget about that for the moment).

Even though I do believe Maxima's also likes to be in control and the jury may be, to some, still out on whether she is in fact a social climber or not, I think Maxima is a stellar example of a great Argentinian export product whereas Eva Peron just wasn't. Maxima is much more diplomatic for one thing, and way way way less dogmatic. Eva Peron was street smart. Maxima seems both street smart AND can boast an education most humans on the planet wish they'd had. I could go on and on but I think what my point comes down to is that in the end, Maxima and Eva P. have much much less in common than it would seem on the surface.

On topic again, no comments on the new cloth on the throne?! I think it is exquisite! Soo beautiful. Used to be red, now it's midnight blue with gold embroidered patterns. They say Beatrix might have weighed in on the design of it?!

What's up with these pictures of the queen in her attire, leaving in a dumpy car?? I take it this is after the balcony scene in Noordeinde??
They really goofed here, they shouldn't show this. Couldn't they have left through a back door or something? This is taking away from the magic of the golden coach etc etc.

It actually is the backside of Noordeinde Palace. I think the Queen is leaving for Huis ten Bosch Palace.

Many thanks to everyone for the photos! In my opinion everybody looked great today, especially Maxima- I loved the flower in her hair.

A corset over a jacket? You wear a corset under your jacket or with your suspenders and nothing else - what a fashion disaster. I like the Queen's outfit and Princess Margriet's but which drag queen is Margriet taking make-up advice from? She's got it plastered on and her eye-liner is so thick I'm suprised she doesn't have to throw her head back to open her eyes.
