Princess Sofia's Fashion & Style, Part 5: April 2022 -

Princess Sofia on a new photo released for her 38th birthday today, December 6:

** Pic **

The new stones in her tiara are beautiful, and I love the earrings. But the dress is not my taste.

Lovely colour but those fake flowers looks so cheap.

Ugly seams and cheap looking fabric + too many distracting flowers packed together near the neck. Easily the least favourite gown she has worn to the Nobels. I remember she once wore a mint green gown that had on ugly seam on the waist, but at least that could have been covered with a belt. This one is beyond saving.

The flowers on the Princess' dress are handmade by Tim Mårtenson who is Scandinavias only plumassier (plume maker) and feather artisan. He was also the one who made the feather trim on the Toteme dress worn by Crown Princess Victoria during the Dutch State visit earlier this year.

Weird. The flowers on Sofia's gown look like the "try-out" version instead of the "real thing". Like the paper towel flowers we used to make as kids, no shades.

I like the color on Sofia a lot, but the dress is not one of my favorites. I think it's the placement of the flowers that weigh down the look. From a distance it almost looks like she has a small animal perched on her shoulder, so maybe there are too many flowers, and fewer would have been more successful.

I like the idea but agree that the execution could have been better.

Damn. The idea behind was good and classy, as said before very Madeleine-like (which has literally the best style, to me). But the rendition is beyond poor. The shape looks rather unbalanced.

Those flowers need to go or at least be reduced like those on Queen Silvia’s magenta dress (worn a few times, also at Frederik’s 50th).

Not impressed. And insisting on adding new stones to the tiara is not helping. She could have chosen other tiaras in the vault. I expect her to wear it tomorrow as well in its simplest version.

Anyway she needs a better stylist. All her past appearances are very questionable, like that bridal dress which is really short with the hem 10cm from the ground.

The color was nice, but the design was far too fussy and overwhelming on her petite frame. I do like the new stones for her tiara.

It actually reminds me the pink gown Sofia wore in 2019 Nobel dinner, but a downgraded version, especially in terms of the cut and embellishments (I don't like the pink one though, too fussy for me).

I think Sofia has a unique style compared to that of Silvia, Victoria or Madeleine. She is a lot slimmer and it has taken time for her to find her groove, just as it does for every woman who marries into a royal family. They have had their life practising and Sophia has not done badly.

However, I would have to say that the basis of every stunning gown is the correct foundation and braless just ruined the line of the rather sweet blue gown. Her pink was really lovely on her and she has found her niche for the most part.

Ugly dress but what can we expect...she always picks that same designer. I’m just glad she’s not wearing Balenciaga [emoji854]

I like it! The color is surprising but suits her well. Nice flowy hem. Nobody can say the top part is too tight, and I feel it can be fairly easily modified for a new look If she decides to wear it again. Simple with a twist looks good on her!

Love this dress! It’s nicely modern, and it’s orange! What’s not to like? She seems to get more beautiful every year.

I love the orange dress with the ombré effect personally

Sofia this evening at the King's dinner for the Nobel Laureates. Another horrible dress. The dress is not festive enough to be worn at this event and with a tiara. She has many beautiful dresses she could have recycled instead.

Agreed. Another horrible dress for Sofia. Doesn’t she have a personal stylist/assistant for these kind of events now?

Even a recycled dress, as you said, would be better than this!

That's not a bad dress IMO, but when I see the photo of Silvia's, Victoria's and hers side by side, I just feel they're not attending same event. It's like a two-piece (which seems that she favours such style?), I guess it may suit a black tie occasion.

I actually did like the ensemble, but just wish the top was fitted better, it would make all the difference.

I completely agree that she could well have reused a previously worn dress to great effect. She has many to choose from.
