Princess Madeleine, Current Events Part 3: August 2004 - June 2005

Since I´m very curious (and don´t have anything better to do at the moment ) I´ve done some research about the Madeleine and Ian story.

At the swedish Idrottsgalan (The Swedish sports gala) on January 20th 2003, Ian Thorphe was one of the sportsmen invited.
And the wole royal family was also there. I haven´t seen any pics of Ian and Madeleine together but since they were at the same place perhaps some of the story is true

I just read that Madeleine will meet a group from "Kulturhuset Barbacka" and a group of young siencetists at Stockholm Palace today.
So hopefully there will be some new pics later today or tomorrow!

I dont think the royal couple would allow Madeleine to back out. If she didn´t wanted to go, it would have been better to say that she couldn´t make it because of school or something...

But it was a pity. I still wants to see her dress!

Lena ... I would have thought you might enjoy a contribution like this from Expressen. No having to lurk around and wait for Madde to see which places she haunts. Neither any humming and hawwing about where to go in Stockholm for the finer things in life, too.

If you look at previous news from ealier on about Princess Madeleine, you can find articles (translated and not translated I think) and pictures of the Royal Mews from earlier this year, when the press found out she was going to move.

Just that Princess Madeleine's apartment comes courtesy of her father the King, just like in the case of Prince Carl Philip who has an apartment in connection to the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

Just to clarify : You mean Carl Philip lives "downtown" in an apartment in the Kungliga Slottet ?

Didn't Carl Gustav and Silvia live in the Kungliga Slottet until Victoria came along, and then they moved out into the basement suite of Drottningholm?

Carl Philip lives in an apartment at Slottsbacken. I dont think the apartment is in the palace itself, but in a building close to it.... anyone knows for sure?

The royal family moved to Drottningholm in 1981, just in time for christmas.
The royal couple wanted the children to be able to live a more free life and be able to play outdoors, and that was not possible in the large Palace in central Stockholm

Wow, cool pics! Thanks so much for posting them Humera! Finally some new pics of a royal in "private". It seems as she was looking for kitchen ware, and other stuff like that. So this was Princess Madeleine's 3rd visit to IKEA that we know of, right? The woman who is with her looks familiar, but I can't place her. I would say she's from the Royal Court.

I´m very pleased to see, that Madeleine seems to be a person, who doesn´t only shop for the most expensive, but for the things she likes (expensive or not...I bet, she also was at more exclusive shops for interior design)

And now a little (senseless) comment from my side...I also own a few of those blue cups, which you can see in one of the pictures. I use them to drink hot chocolate

After the kidnapping of Fabian Bengtsson (his parents own a chain of markets on consumer electronics...he´s still not back) Madeleine was yesterday (Saturday/Sunday) protected of 4 bodyguards from Säpo (usually she has 2) And before she went to the club (Kharma), it was searched through of the police.
If you ask me, this is again one of those "overshoots", typically for public authorities. Firstly they do nothing for years and then when something happens, suddenly all want to do everything and at once. I remember that a few years ago Madeleine hadn´t bodyguards at all! A young girl, daughter of a rich king and NO bodyguards. And now after a kidnapping (which seems to be sadly popular in Sweden...2 and a half years ago, an other son of a millionaire, Erik Westerberg, was kidnapped. I think then SÄPO slowly started to realise, that Madeleine could also need protection like Victoria) they start to do their job the right way, and it seems, for them it never was an option (that Madeleine would have been kidnapped...out of greed, of an insane person, or of terrorists) before. Sigh.

Yes it seems a little overdone. They could have stuck with the 2 if they were good. But Säpo has had some trouble these last few years. Well-known cases of mistakes. Anyway, this is the same club where Jonas and Erik got into the "fight"(Expressobladet made it sound like Ali-Frazier) a while ago.
