The great-grandfather of her gynaecologist attended Victoria Eugenia

Almost hundred years have passed between the last childbirth of the Queen Victoria Eugenia, who was an October 24, 1914, and the Dona Letizia's first one, which will take place next weeks.
Nevertheless, the destiny has done that is the same familiar saga the one that attends both mothers in their illuminations. And it is that the Queen Victoria Eugenia there attended the doctor Sebastián Recasens and he will be the great-grandson of this one eminently gynaecologist, the doctor Luis Ignacio Recasens, who brings to the world the first-born one of the Princes of Asturias. Whereas Victoria Eugenia gave to light always in Palace, already out the Royal one of Madrid or that of The Farm, Dona Letizia will do it in the clinical Ruber Internacional.

During the reception that was offered on the National Day, Don Felipe confessed to the journalists that he doesn’t know the sex of his baby and that he and his wife have made two lists, in order to choose the name of the baby, who will be born in the second week of November.

In an informal conversation during the traditional reception in the Royal Palace, the Prince commented to the journalists that he wishes to be present in the birth of his first-born, because he doesn’t want to lose a little while of such important moment. Don Felipe spoke of the emotion of being a father and thus giving continuity to the dynastic line. In spite of his feelings, not a word was said about the sex of the baby, as he answered that he doesn’t have any "privileged information" on that matter.

The journalists invited then Don Felipe to add himself to the guessing club, betting for 3 euros the date of birth, the sex and the name of the baby. The Prince declined the invitation and added that he and his wife have made two lists, which they’re still turning over and over in their minds.

They don't know the sex of the baby? I think that's nice. Everyone always wants to be prepared these days and there is no surprise anymore. :)

It seems almost like a "tradition" in the SRF. Infanta Cristina also didn't want to know the sex of her babies and she was pretty moved, when she finally recieved in her arms a little girl. :)

Here here! She's awfully big to last to November. Poor thing! I image the baby will be quite long in size.

More than a year ago, long time before the pregnancy of Doña Letizia was announced, the Princes of Asturias have been presented with baby booties, pyjamas, t-shirts, aprons, trousers, etc... On Thursday, Don Felipe received a complete equipment of the Sporting de Gijón, but what nobody was expecting was that HRH requested "something" for his baby. It happened on Thursday night, at the Auditorium Prince Felipe, after the closing concert of the XIV Week of Music, performed by the Symphonic Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias, the Choir of the Prince of Asturias Foundation and the Donostiarra Orfeon, under the direction of Jesus Lopez Cobos. Don Felipe approached the musicians, as he always does, to greet the interpreters and, when narrowing the hand of Lopez Cobos, the Prince made a suggestion: "Jesus, the next thing that you must do is a cradle-song". The composer and director took note of the royal order: a cradle song for the royal baby will be his next work.

La Zarzuela has prepared a plan safety in the Ruber for the birth of the infante who includes the use of helicopters

The safety services of La Zarzuela have the safety plan already designed around the Clinic Ruber, which includes the participation of helicopters of the Police. The plan this one already ready for when there takes place the birth of the baby of the princes of Asturias, with direct protagonism of the safety services of the House of the King, but also with implication of the Police National Body. These preparations already were applied, partly, during the night of last Monday, when Letizia Ortiz came to the hospital to start suffering contractions.
According to information gathered by The Confidential Digital one, La Zarzuela has requested the presence the persons in charge of the police of effective of reinforcement about the Ruber, including the alertness from the air by means of the mobilization of the helicopters of the CNP.
Though the initial forecasts on date of illumination were centring in middle of November, impressions gathered by ECD in the mentioned environment aim now at the possibility that one could produce an advance of the childbirth, between other things because the calculations in these cases are never mathematical.
For logical prudence before this possibility, finally the princess has not travelled to Oviedo to be present at the delivery of the Prizes Prince of Asturias, as it went forward in the pages of The Confidential Digital one.

Politicians, businessmen and journalists think that the first born of the Princes of Asturias shall be a male, who must receive an education similar to the one Don Felipe had

Journalists, politicians and businessmen believe that the heir of the Princes of Asturias will be a male, although nobody puts its hand on the fire for it. On what they do not have doubts is that the education of the heir must be similar to the one that Don Felipe had received, although there’s no unanimity on this point of the discussion. Of course all the personalities La Nueva España spoke with showed their joy by the presumable quick arrival of the stork, be it a boy or a girl.

Sabino Fernandez Campo, the count of Latores, was one of those who bet for a boy, although he confesses: "I have no idea". For the ex-spokesman of the House of the King, if the first-born of the Princes of Asturias was a man "it would make the reform of the Constitution not so urgent and it would be better for the reform, if it hadn’t to be made quickly". Sabino Fernandez Campo considers that the education of the infante (or infanta) "would have to be similar to the one that his/her father received. The military schools are not a bad option, to inculcate values, and later a more complete formation, because the power that the child will have is one that requires knowledge and personal authority".

Also the former president of the newspaper "La razon", Luis Maria Anson considers that the child "must be educated as its father: at the military schools, University and other courses made abroad, so that he may have the maximum contact with the Spanish and the International reality". Luis Maria Anson expressed a conviction: "Doña Letizia will bring the child immediately to Oviedo, because she is very in love with this land".

Besides, also the ex- minister of Culture, Carmen Alborch, believes that "the Prince has received a very complete education, as much in Spain as abroad".

Oh Gosh, little Infanta or Infante is still in his/her mummy's bumb and they have already started talking about his future and education. Hello! Why don't we start a new thread and look for his future wife?:D
Anyway, it's not so nice of these politicians to talk that they prefer boy. Maybe this child is a girl and one day she will read these things and know that because of her the constitution had to be changed and it made many problems! How would she feel?:(

The Princes of Asturias will receive a sample of toys made of Onil

A toy is synonymous of smile and illusion. And in Onil, cradle of this sector, they know very well the important thing that is to make dreams and to create illusion in the smallest.
The Association of Magi of this locality of the Foia de Castalla, together with the collaboration of the businessmen, will give to the Princes of Asturias a representative sample of the dolls and toys that are elaborated in Onil.
With this obsequiousness, " and as best as possible that we know, across our products ", the association colivenca congratulates the Princes on the close birth of their first-born one and invites them to visit Onil's municipality.

For several weeks there are two suites and two rooms reserved in the Ruber International Clinic, for when the moment of the birth arrives.

The friends of the couple say that the future parents have lived the pregnancy with intensity: that Don Felipe likes to caress the bump of Doña Letizia, that they together list the names they will give to the baby and that they both have supervised the decoration of the baby bedroom, which is close together to theirs, on the first floor of their residence, in the enclosure of La Zarzuela, from where all the beauty of the mountain of El Pardo can be watched.

They also tell that Doña Letizia always wanted to know the sex of her baby, but that Don Felipe had resisted, as he, like his sisters Doña Elena and Doña Cristina, prefers the surprise.

Doña Letizia, along with Don Felipe, has made the course of childbirth without pain, although she will also have the epidural anaesthesia, to mitigate the pain. Together, they attend the scheduled visits to the doctor, but always at late and by discreet accesses of the Ruber International Clinic.

The journalists continue with the dates, it seems that they have turned into expert gynaecologists. In two newspapers I have read the date of the 13th. But this they are not mathematical and the baby will come when he or she wants.:p

hola.com is celebrating it's 5th birthday and during this week we can (without suscribing) read the whole articles, not only these ugly shorter versions! So, here we have the WHOOOLE article about the last days of Letizia's pregancy. They say, that at the moment the baby is probably quite big and ready to came to world and make his parents (and us here too) the happiest people in the world.

21 OCTUBRE 2005

During a dinner in which HM the Queen was able to taste the best fish of the Aegean, surrounded by close Greek friends, Doña Sofía commented how content and thrilled she is for the arrival of her newest grandson or granddaughter; an expectation that she’s living with the natural nerves of every grandmother. As far as the great incognito that surrounds the birth by the first-born of the Princes of Asturias, the Queen was positive about not knowing whether it will be a boy or a girl, nor how is it going to be named.

And here we go again... another "exclusive news" advanced by the Spanish Press...

http://www.noticiaspyme.com/sec/sec.actu/noti_nac.asp?idn=83927&pon=6&ids=25

The Royal House has already started the security measures, so that the baby of Prince Felipe and Letizia Ortiz will be born next Monday in the Ruber Clinic of Madrid. Trustworthy sources have assured us that "if Nature does not advance the process, the birth will be caused on October 31st". The same sources state that, "with total security, it will be a boy".

At the time we write these lines, it has been impossible to contact La Zarzuela, nor any spokesman of the Ruber Clinic, to know the more details.

I'm so excited and can't hardly wait, like everyone of you :D
I also think that we don't have to wait long any more...
Let's surprise if the lines of the news Elsa wrote above are true. I'd like that, then the baby comes in my holidays

The journalists are at the edge of the madness, every day the journalists give several different dates ... in the newspapers, in the television ... they all have turned into gynaecologists and give their opinion.

This news is of a digital newspaper, and how to the rest I do not give itmany credibility. The enterteining thing is that many journalists on Monday won´t work, because Tuesday in Spain is a holiday and many people have free from Saturday until Tuesday. The journalists are worried because if this was true some they are going to remain without vacations. :p

King emphasizes good condition straight final Dona Letizia pregnancy

The King assured today that the Princess Letizia is ' very well ' in the final straight line of her pregnancy, though he could not specify when there will take place the childbirth of the first son of the Princes of Asturias, of which still the sex is not known.
In a conversation with the journalists during a glass of wine at the conclusion of the exercise of maneuvers of the Unit of Defense of Anti-aircraft Artillery in the field of maneuvers Dune of the Parrot in Huelva, Don Juan Carlos demonstrated that the birth, from now, ' can be in any moment ' and ' not even the doctors know it '.
With regard to the name of the one that will be his seventh grandson, the King demonstrated that the Princes of Asturias ' have not asked me, but if they should make it I had said to them that should put the one that they want '.

http://www.20minutos.es/noticia/58866/0/Princesa/Asturias/parto/

According to the consulted sources, the Princess ends her time of gestation on November 20th, so she was of 36 weeks, when she entered the hospital, last Tuesday. Most of the pregnancies last between 38 and 42 weeks, and the date of a normal childbirth is 40 weeks. The experts consider a childbirth as premature, when it takes place before the 36th week, so the premature childbirths are usually delayed, by means of a medicine, atosiban, that is administered by intravenous route.

Other medical sources consulted by 20 minutes indicate that from week 36 on it’s not recommendable to delay the childbirths, because, by then, the fetus is already mature and, although it may lack weight, it doesn’t constitute any complication, neither for the child, nor for the mother.

Everything indicates, therefore, that the birth of the heir to the throne will take place before the 40 weeks of pregnancy and consequently before the half-full of November, dates that the Prince had announced, during the reception of the National Celebration.

How you can read in Spain the journalist - gynaecologist's profession has arisen .... they all know everything, but not the Royal House, not even the doctor they have said at all. And neither they are going to say it, but the journalists are not capable of waiting calmly without opening theirmouths and saying or to write multiple bilges.:p

So already you know, the baby can be born on October 31 or November 13, November 20 (for that we wait that not this day, it would be horrible) ... you can choose ... to choose your journalist - gynaecologist:eek:

http://www.telemadrid.com/informativos/noticia_completa.asp?id=138403&seccion=4SOC

A journalist asked the King today on the possibility of the first-born of the Princes of Asturias being named after Don Juan Carlos. HM answered with a full "no, to that I answer with a no".
When concluding the act, the journalists returned to ask the King if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl, a question that he assured not to know: "We all make calculations and bets".
Don Juan Carlos also said that he supposes that everything is now prepared for the birth of the baby of the Princes and emphasized that everybody is very calm.

Preparations in hand as Spanish royal couple prepare for firstborn

MADRID (AFP) - November 13 has been pencilled in as the day, but preparations are already being fine-tuned for when Spain's Princess Letizia gives birth to her first child, with the grandfather saying if it is a boy it will not be named after him.

Former television news presenter Letizia Ortiz and her husband, heir to the throne Felipe de Bourbon, have four rooms -- one for Letizia and three for her entourage -- reserved at a private clinic in northern Madrid and the child is due on November 13.

Rooms 10, 11, 12 and 13 have been set aside for the royal delegation with the prince saying he intends to be present.

"I hope I won't be abroad" on an official engagement, the prince said recently as he mulled a full diary.

"And I hope I won't be too nervous," he added.

As speculation mounted on the sex of the child, with the gossip columns tracking every move by the prince and princess, King Juan Carlos on Wednesday told reporters that whatever name Letizia and Felipe came up with for a male heir, it would "absolutely not" be Juan Carlos.

The monarch added on a visit to Barcelona that Letizia was resting as "she has had a very busy schedule."

Tight security measures are in place at the clinic, whose personnel have signed a confidentiality agreement. Guards with dogs are patrolling the grounds of the clinic, some of them inside the building -- although not in operating theatres.

The clinic does not have especially luxurious facilities but is near the couple's home, the Zarzuela Palace and is where the princess' gynaecologist works.

Letizia briefly stayed at the clinic on October 18 after early contractions.

There is feverish speculations over whether she will have a baby boy or girl. If a girl, the child could just become Spain's first female head of state since Queen Isabel the Catholic (1451-1504).

The Socialist government hopes to modify the constitution which would change the current arrangement under which a female child would be disbarred from becoming head of state even if she were the firstborn.

looks like the press has now stationed themself outside Clinica Ruber in Madrid (from ANP) :

Hehe!! Speculation has now reached the top!

http://www.periodistadigital.com/periodismo/object.php?o=211549

The security operation displayed around the Ruber Clinic has been narrowed during the last hours. Weekend licences of outstanding members of the Security Forces have been cancelled. Although initially there was a strong possibility that the birth would occur on Monday, the acceleration of the preparations makes us believe that the childbirth is near. All the press continues suspended by the awaited moment and, given the rush, everything indicates that the great news is going to take place during the weekend.
