Princess Irene has participated in a documentary 'Alledaagse Waardigheid' (Everyday Dignity) by the filmmaker Ida Does. The documentary talks about the book of the same name by Prof. Philomena Essed, which was presented to the princess 40 years ago. It was the first book about racism in the Netherlands.

The documentary will be shown on the NPO on October 19th.

How lovely that she is involved again after 40 years. That truly is one of the beautiful aspects of royal life: the continuity.

Princess Irene has given an interview to Dutch magazine Trouw, the article (entitled "Princess Irene has been saying it for almost thirty years, but she will repeat it one more time: slow down and go into natur") is behind a paywall, but the link shows one of the nice new photos taken for the article:

For those wondering about this 'magazine': Trouw is one of the 5 major national newspapers in the Netherlands. It was founded during World War 2 as a newspaper by the protestant resistance and still read by many that (somewhat) identify with the christian tradition.

Princess Irene participated in the tv program 'Adieu God' in which famous Dutch people are interviewed about their religious development in life. This season's first broadcast tomorrow (Sunday) will be with the princess.

The description to promote the new season provides the following (translated) snippet about this interview:

In the first episode of a new season of ‘Adieu God?’ Tijs van den Brink talks to Princess Irene about her religious choices and experiences.

As a child, Irene loved being in nature and felt protected by something greater. She was raised Protestant, but that church felt too heavy for her. That is why she decided to become Catholic, a decision that caused a lot of commotion in the Netherlands.

When her marriage ended and she was no longer allowed to take communion, she no longer felt at home in the Catholic church either. Since an overwhelming experience in the mountains, she feels more and more part of nature. And she sees it as her great mission to bring people and nature closer together. "If we understand that we are part of nature and start living like that, then this planet will remain functional. Everything that grows, blooms and lives can then exist as it was meant to be."

In a preview in Blauw Bloed, princess Irene is very adamant that she did not become roman catholic for her (future) husband. A decision like that is too important to do it for someone else.
