The title was George V's and the Queen's idea. George V said that male line grandchildren are HRH and prince or princess. The Queen made their father the Duke of York.

No one seems to mind that Princess Alexandra is a princess. They are princesses for the same reason. Times had changed greatly by the time that Edward and Sophie had a family. Andrew didn't seek a title for his kids, Edward asked for his children to be known by lesser titles.

I think it is incredibly mean spirited of the media to continually show the worst possible shots of Eugenie and Beatrice for that matter. It is like they are under continual attack always being shown in the worst possible clothes, pose or photos and, if that doesn't work, they dig for old snaps to re-issue in the guise of "today"!

William and Kate have such sour expressions on their faces in those photos and they aren't making eye contact with the photographers. Is this a response to the 'Closer' thing? Seems rather petulant to me. The circumstances are very different. If they are going to go to clubs they have to expect to be photographed leaving them, and it's better if they look gracious about it. Yes, I know he was at a funeral, but that's no excuse. One thing about Beatrice and Eugenie: they tend to smile beautifully for the cameras who photograph them leaving these places. There needs to be consistency.

I just don't think TRHs have to smile every time there is a camera in the area. They were off duty. The pics of the Cambridges and Eugenie/her escort both showed couples purposefully not posing for the paps (walking apart, no doe eyes, no cheese etc.) Good for the couples. Let them take the night off from entertaining all and sundry.

What are William and Kate supposed to do? Walk outside, give the paps a big hug and ask how their day has been? Maybe pose and give that over-the-shoulder Hollywood wink? They're leaving a club to get in their cars and go home. I don't expect them to march out like they're on a fashion catwalk so why should anyone else? And after what's happened recently, I doubt seriously they're much in the mood to give paparazzi anything they want.

Although this is Eugenie's thread I wonder who that fashion disaster was who was w/ Pippa.

How odd, I looked at the same photos and did not see 'sour expressions.' Rather, I saw neutral expressions. Obviously someone tipped the press that they would be arriving/leaving and even though they tried to slip in and out through the back the paps were lurking.
Petulant to me means rude or insolent, and I don't think it's rude to ignore or not make eye contact with someone who is hell bent on invading your privacy.
I have seen photos of the York girls not smiling, as well, it just depends on what photos the magazines want to run.
Usually, a series of photos will capture a host of expressions - some w/ smiles, some w/ neutral expressions, etc.. The magazines seem to choose the ones that suit their storyline @ the moment and w/ the Cambridges the press is playing the "upset @ paps" melodrama, so they will publish non smiling photos. The mags probably would have loved frowning shots, but there were none of those, so they used the next best thing.

I am not sure how the Cambridge's facial expressions have anything to do with Princess Eugenie of York.

I agree with you sliver-bic, Andrew in a wig. I'm confused because facially I see a lot more of Andrew than Sarah in both Beatrice and Eugenie, but they look nothing alike (you certainly wouldn't pick them out of a lineup as sisters). I think maybe Eugenie is a younger Andrew, and Beatrice more as he is now. It's funny how we all see different things, some say Beatrice is Sarah's double.

I see way more Sarah in Beatrice it's in her eyes and mouth. Eugenie has always looked more like her dad and with her dark hair even more so. I always thought a young Andrew was really cute I don't see that at all in Eugenie's bloke. The eyes, the facial structure way different to me.

The girl she's holding hands with in the last set of pics is Olivia Perry, Bubble, Chelsy's best friend. I knew Eugenie was friends with her and all that set but not to the point of holding hands
