New, improved and expanded IGNORE feature
All members currently have the ability to ignore (hide) all posts made by other members if those members are placed on their ignore list.
The ignore feature has now been expanded to include three new categories:
• specific forums
• specific threads
• all threads started by people on your ignore list
This feature probably won't be used by many members (and certainly not by the Moderators!) but it may come in useful for those who wish to avoid certain topics for whatever reason (for example: can't stand the topic, can't stand the poster, or just can't stay away ).
Please note that it can't be set to ignore the site staff.
Here's how it works:
This new system allows you to ignore forums, threads, and threads started by people on your ignore list. It ignores these items when you are browsing the forums (you don't see threads or forums you have ignored), in search results, on New Post link or in Today's Posts. It also skips them if you are using the next/previous thread links at the end of the threads. It will also stop these threads from showing up when you view the Portal page.
To select a forum to hide
select the Forum Tools drop down and then select hide forum (see 1st attachment).
To select a thread to hide
use the Thread tools drop down and select hide thread (see 2nd attachment),
To ignore threads started by people on your ignore list
go to the bottom left of the User CP where you will see a Settings link (see 3rd attachment) and check off the box to ignore their threads.
To 'unignore'
Once you have ignored these forums and discussions you will not be able to see them in the event that you want to unignore them. So if you do want to unignore them, there is a tool in the bottom left of the UserCP to manage the items you have selected to ignore.
So now if you don't like the a certain forum, just hide it. The same goes with threads: if a thread is bugging you, just hide it. You can even hide threads based on tags: if you want to ignore threads on a specific topic you can do so by ignoring the tags.
If you chose not to hear anymore about an ignore system feel free to hide this thread too!
To ignore posts by a specific member
As always, you can still choose to ignore all posts for a single member or members by adding the name(s) to your ignore list in your User CP. This option is found in the left hand side menu under Settings and Options.
