Silly question. Why is his half brother now king? What about his own blood?

They have a different system.

Half-brothers there are from the same father who can have multiple wives as well.

In the western European countries succession tends to be generational but in some Arab countries it goes down the brothers before changing to the next generation.

In countries like the UK, if the half-brother has the right royal line then they could also inherit e.g. William and Kate divorce and William remarries - any subsequent children would also be in the line of succession behind George and the new baby but ahead of any of Harry's children.

New challenges for Saudi's new King Salman bin Abdelaziz: article

How does the succession work in Saudi Arabia? I've never really followed them before but I'm curious as to why they don't seem to have a father to son succession.

It's a brother succession brother line but a new move has been made by the King appointing his nephew as the deputy crown prince.

Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has banned a senior member of the royal family from appearing on public and private television channels after he uttered remarks deemed racist.

Prince Mamdooh Bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, an honorary member of the Riyadh-based Al Nasr sports club, has also been prevented from making statements to print or audio media and from taking part in all sports activities.

No, it's not really true. Someone used the media to spread rumors in connection with the war against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen ....

Currently the House of Saud is dealing with rising Iranian influence in the Shia Crescent, wars in Syria and Yemen, simmering discontent in Bahrain, and the prospect that its principal global ally is about to cut a deal with its enduring rival in the region. Just a lot of politics but nothing that would pose a real threat for the House of Al Saud.
