King Juan Carlos's Health Issues

I am not Spanish either, but I respect and admire King Juan Carlos greatly. Hope that he can solve his health problems. If it is a problem in the knee, it can debilitate the person but it is something that can be solved. Of course, when one is older, every little thing takes more time to heal. Also, King Juan Carlos was always a very active man as well a lover of sports, especially sailing. It must be hard for him not to be able to do what he loves.
Anyway, LONG LOVE THE KING! Salud, MAJESTADE!
 
I saw him here in Switzerland, at his visit; that's not just the knee ... but I with you Duke o Marmalade ...

Hope it doesn't get worse ...
 
One of the worst things is his speaking ability has deteriorated. It's rather painful to see the Head of State couldn't make clear speeches at the state dinners or Christmas. Don't know what has happened after the lung surgery, I can see why some media was asking for more transparency on his health.
 
This is not good the king's speech is not as well as it once was.
I still believe miracles can happen no matter what the situation
if it is the will of God.I do want King Juan Carlos to get better
healing takes time and patience.

Was this announced before that he would be having surgery or did it come as a surprise?

Not surprised that his speech is not as good after the surgery, its quite normal after lung surgery that he wont be able to speak as good.

His speech seems to be slurred what can have many reasons and in case it is a result from lung surgery it would be one of the better reasons I can think of.

Others, much worse, would be a minor stroke or dysarthria, what can be caused by serious illnesses such as Parkinson or ALS.

I wish the King a speedy recovery, I hope all is well and in time he will be much better. I was hoping that Prince Felipe would have some time to be able to enjoy his young family before he had to take over, even a regent, his girls are still pretty young.

The knee surgery probably has to happen, when looking at the King I am sure there is more, he has been looking ill for some time now, but its a sensitive topic and admitting more other than what cannot be denied could be suicide for the institution.

A visibly declining health of JC, especially over a long time period, will lead to a discussion about the monarchy itself what the SRF is dreading. Looking at an ailing King for months in this political climate could lead to the public asking whether they need a King at all, the young and unemployed could figure that Spain doesnt. Dynamics can be dangerous. It would be a different matter if the King would drop dead and Felipe is his successor, no time for a public debate in this case.

So true. The last thing any monarchist would need is a long debate about the usefulness and need of the institution of monarchy during this financial situation.
I wish the King a speedy recovery and many more years on the throne.

HM underwent a knee replacement operation this afternoon in Madrid.
The King is doing fine.:)

I'm amazed that he is out of the hospital so soon after a total knee replacement. A close relative had this done recently and wasn't released so quickly and didn't look as good upon leaving! Here's hoping his recovery goes well.

he will need therapy for his knee, and maybe he wants to be attended on private.
 
I wish and pray for a great swift recovery for His Majesty, and something tells me he is NOT ready to be put out to pasture just yet. Still has a lot of fighting spirit left in him: VIVA EL REY!:flowers:
 
My husband had a total knee replacement 9 months ago. It takes time and a lot of work on the patient's part, but you get up and about as soon as possible. It is more complicated than a hip replacement and takes more time to rehab, but the results should be good.
 
He's going to spend a couple of weeks in the same hospital where he was operated last year in Barcelona for physical therapy.
