A family trip to Kenya.. as she only brought her own children. And all of that as part of her UN role. I assume she personally paid for her (adult: 34 & 26) children to join her on the trip.

I wasn't aware until now that the late king had died in Kenya. He was there for treatment and died suddenly. For all the amazing changes he made in Bhutan, he was quite young when he died, only his early forties. The current king's father was only 16 at the time.

Nice to see one of his daughter in laws, and her 2 children, in attendance.

The royal grandmother has been passionate about preserving the traditions and art/architecture of Bhutan for decades.

The youngest queen mother has her own organization: the Gualyum Charitable Trust. The queen is president and her daughter is the chair. See here.

Three of the queens do.

Dorji Wangmo, the eldest sister founded the Tarayana Foundation. Both of her children serve on the board as well as Dorji.

The king's mother Tshering Yangdon created the Bhutan Nun's fund. It helps creating nunneries to support female education.

Only the second sister does not have a foundation I am aware of.

Aw, congratulations to the King and Queen! It'll be nice to see little Jigme with a sibling - I was wondering when they would have another child.

I'm so happy! Two royal babies to look forward too! I'm glad little Jigme will have a young sibling.

I actually didn't wonder about when they'll have another child since Jetsun Pema is only 29 years old. But, I'm truly happy about this news. I hope it's a girl!!!!

That's wonderful news; another royal child to be expected in Spring 2019! Big brother Jigme Namgyel will be excited as well; he will be 4 by the time his sibling is born.

Jetsun might be only 29; Jigme Khesar is turning 40 in 2 months, so he is not getting any younger.
