Do you mind providing a few examples please? After all even her holidays are usually covered by paparrazzi photographers and last time I looked she wasn't spotted in the South of France with a big bandage on her nose :whistling:

Well if you were just having the tip done (which apparently is popular as the nose tends to droop with age enhancing the ageing look - apparently) then you wouldn't need a big bandage. The big bandage is when the bone gets broken and reset. Look back over the forums and you will find plenty of posts over the years asking 'where is queen rania?'

So you keep claiming but unfortunately for yourself the forum rules require proof, not rumours or speculation....

True, but nobody, not even Apple has ever publicly disclosed her real job and so 'marketing executive' is a jazzed up term to make it sound better than it was and is deliberately vague. If she had been a manager or an exec then we would have heard plenty about it - in detail. So marketing executive is 'speculation and rumour' too:whistling:

The centre, which was established in response to the Queen’s call for developing social work in the Kingdom, seeks to promote social change and enhance the profession.

Guys please don't make me say it again.
We're not going to disrupt the current events thread with an argument over something we read in HELLO are we?
When they keep calling Rania and Lalla Salma "close pals" we know not to take everything they write seriously.

Let's move on ...

Thanks

Humera! I am really shocked! How could you say that when EVERYONE knows they print only 100% truth about the REAL lives of the celebrities and royalty, Lol!

Yamamah, I don't know how much we agree about Queen Rania because I have the impression that we have totally different opinions about her. I like her and I estimate her , I mean. I would also like to add that her beauty in my opinion is the result of a balanced personality and also I believe that her faith in her religion make her also balanced person with positive energy and values, that's what I have understand through her speeches, interviews and general appearance.

I don't think she is a bad person per se but having seen her in person over the years I can see many of the outside changes. As for the other stuff, I preferred her before she started believing her own PR. She was so charming and natural when she was first queen, very different from the person we now see. Also don't forget her speeches are written for her and her interviews are subjected to scrutiny before the questions are asked (questions are cleared and she chooses which she will answer) and her answers and speeches are to generate positive PR for her and her husband and are not neccessarily the truth as such. Everything is controlled and contrived which is why I take a lot of the things 'with a pinch of salt' and the duties are no more or less than the other royal ladies do. Queen Rania owes much to her predecessor Queen Noor for making the queen role what it is today and for enabling Rania to build on the foundations of Noor's work. If I sound cynical, it is because I am Arab and in Arab countries, press and TV we hear more than what is just presented in the Western press.

I understand that you have another point of view as you are from an arab country, as for me I don't know the history, politics etc. of the region, so I don't know the changes if they are. Everybody has his one opinion and his point of view either we agree or not.

Of course, as LeoMama agreed with me (perhaps because he or she also see the 'other' side of the Arab media) so you are free to disagree. It isn't even about politics or religion, it is about what happens here and now, people who know her, knew her, and we hear a different side in Arabic. When the royal family 'play' to the West it is because there is an agenda not always because what they are saying is true. They have to try to look good, same as others.

Thank you for posting this article reeda2000 and thank you also for expressing your agreement with my point of view. It is interesting to read articles like this as at first glance, Jordan and Korea are not natural 'bedfellows' and Jordan certainly has a problem with sustainable energy. It will be intriguing to follow this story up in a few months or a year to see hoe well the collaboration goes.

Jordan First: A King's Modernization Motto Obscures a Palestinian Past and Iraqi Present.

It remains to be seen how the program will eventually transform Jordan. King Abdullah claims to be pushing to move Jordan into a democratic state with global influence and power, including a proposal to decentralize Amman's political control and rezone the kingdom into several geographic regions. The program, whatever its ultimate goals may be, seems to be a successful nationalistic movement. Perhaps the fact that the King's wife, Queen Rania, was born in Kuwait to Palestinian parents originally from Tulkarem, may offer many Palestinians an example of how one can move from the Palestinian past to the Jordanian future.

To piggy back on this--I remember when Rania was first queen, she and Ali went to ???can't remember the place but some E. European country and she was beautiful and real and intensly human, not the robot beauty of now. I was so proud of her as an Arab woman, Arab working mother, Arab muslim woman and Jordan's queen. She resemled hope for me...for the future of Jordan. Unfortunately now I'd be lieing to you if I said all that. We don't know what her life is like now, maybe she too back then was so innocent about what change she could make happen and now knows that's not possible. It's hard not to get caught up in looks and vanity when you're infront of the camera constantly and perhaps she just wasn't strong enough to retain her integrity.

Robot beauty? I understand some of you are dissappointed from her but she is not robot beauty or waxed face or some other phrases I have read in this forum, (I don't write this post only for Niki,I have no personal problem with Niki or other girls) I just want to say that she may changed through the years but she got older, she is not 23, we all change when as growing up, our appearance and many other things. I have seen only videos and photos, not in real life but I believe that she happened to be a beautiful and kind woman.:)

I see what you mean Niki and Godiva. Godiva, I have seen her in real life and up close and this year! Her skin is very waxy and there isn't a single fine line there so I would assume she has had botox/dermabrasion/peels and/or any of the other treatments rich ladies have. I can honestly tell you that she had more lines on her face as a Princess than she does now and that isn't natural.

Niki, I think she probably got caught up in believing her own PR although the vanity was always there and that is what has robbed her of the things you describe. Of course she is very photogenic and still quite young so she is great as a front page on magazines and a lot of the speeches actually do sound good except it is usually style over substance.

I am not going to repeat myself endlessly except to ask people to sometimes look behind what is presented to them and to ask questions.

Congratulations to her on her CNN award, except she isn't a leader. She is the WIFE of a leader and only has her position through marriage.

I think people outside Jordan, whom see her through outer lens ( magazines and foreign media ) can't understand what Jordanians really mean, we don't criticize her for vain or the sake of criticism only, but we live her and know the challenges and the needs for us ; she only keeps repeating the same words through different channels and magazines ( of course she changes her outfits) but nothing on the ground. somebody can say the change is slow but she has to feel with people and really stop acting like a model.

Congratulations to her on her CNN award, except she isn't a leader. She is the WIFE of a leader and only has her position through marriage.

A leader is not just a head of state or a monarch. It can be anybody who takes initiative with a project or one who is the driving force behind an idea. Rania has well established herself as the head of a number of projects and, in that, she qualifies as a leader on her own merit.

Her influence, position and reach comes through her marriageto her husband not her personally. She wouldn't get any air time or the opportunities to head things if she wasn't married to Abdullah.

So unless for example, someone here on the boards, just joe average decided to 'take on a cause' how much media time do you think they would be given? How many column inches? Not very much unless you happen to have made it really big in business, be a politician or an actor or something else in the public arena. Sorry kimebear but you know as well as me that very few ordinary people who perhaps work as hard if not harder than Rania even get a look in. CNN wouldn't even look twice if she was an ordinary woman without privilege and rank and her connections through her husband.

She only gets to be head of projects and invited on boards of organisations because she is a queen and she is only a queen through her marriage to her husband.

I agree that she got the opportunity to be heard through her position after marriage, but that does not mean that what she does with that opportunity is anything but her own merit. If she had been given an opportunity because she is a Queen Consort, but then she does nothing substantial with it, that does not make her a leader either.

It is what she does with the opportunities that she has been given that determine whether or not she can be called a leader. Regardless of how she obtained them.

Well there are several reasons, number one, she has to follow in the footsteps of the work the late Queen Alia started and then the illustrious Queen Noor continued. Queen Rania would not be very popular at all in Jordan if she sat at home all day living like a queen (excuse the pun) but doing nothing for the money. Queen Rania also has to live up to the examples set by current ladies married to powerful men like Suzanne Mubarak. It is the done thing for royalty to do charity work but what she does isn't to be likened to working at a coal face. She is briefed by other people, gets her speeches written by other people, gets chauffered to a place, spends a couple of hours talking to people and doing the odd bit of painting or whatever for the photo op. Or she gives a speech whilst dressed in expensive clothes, then eats haute cuisine before being chauffered back to her hotel/palace etc. It isn't hard work at all. I know royals would have us believe it is but it isn't. Queen Rania doesn't perform that many duties in one day in Jordan. Very often she arrives late or doesn't show up at all or spends 10 minutes before disappearing with her security men. The meetings she attends, she is briefed by experts and presented with a folder of the facts before she goes in to be a figurehead. To be blunt, she isn't often there and many Jordanians wish she would spend less time abroad and more time attending to the problems in the country.

I am not saying she is any worse than any other royal for doing this but then again, she is not any better either. I would much prefer to see these awards go to the real people who make a difference, the ones who don't get the publicity and accolades just for turning up somewhere. It is the cult of celebrity gone mad and a sad refection of our times.
