I just wish I could afford such an expensive treat. I don't quite get the aim of the story, was it a bad thing for Kate to have five-hour pampering or was it because the five hours were spent at a Richard Ward's?

You know I think stuff like this is confusing. I mean what "Middle Class" girl can afford that pampering? I never got how so many people dubb her as being middle class when she is living a life style such as this?

just remember people...25+ years ago it was Lady Diana Spencer that made news simply by getting in and out of her car...before an engagement announce was made so all this hype is nothing new.

Maybe we should have an FAQ for Kate. haha, it's pretty much been established that UK middle class is different from US middle class. It basically means that her family isn't aristorcratic but they are not working class. Someone there could have less money than Kate's family but have a title and therefore would be upper class, as I understand it.

Anyway, I don't really believe that Fergie/Diana/Kate/Chelsy article. Most of it is from anonymous sources and is just conmentary from the writer. I read it as an editorial more than a news story.

I think they describe Kate as upper middle class because her family is sucessful but in a modest way (like they own a mail order toy business so its not exactly aristocratic).

I could understand that. :)

You are right Zonk1189, the only way you get into the Royal Box, if the Royals are present is by invitation and even that, apparently, is after you are security checked. :)

If it was true, which I cannot be certain of, of Kate appearing at the festival knowing full well that the press will be there, then of course being hounded by the press only to get an excuse as to be "invited" into the royal box is cunning.

Goodness, the press are getting their claws into her. Is it a slow news week or something? That Mail piece was full of quite unnecessary innuendo.

As for Kate's day of pampering, I think it's not that big of a deal. Yes, it was a bit extravagant, but not wildly so. We have to remember that people have very high expectations of her - think how closely some of us pay attention to her appearance! If she was walking around looking disheveled, we'd be making an even bigger fuss. The fact that she's in the public eye I think entitles her to a little extravagance with regards to her appearance.

^ Actually thay are doing what I said they will do. They built her up on this pedestal so that she can be looked as "Perfect Kate: princess material" and then once it gets to the point where people are sick of reading/writing that then they crash her down to the floor and write all these negative things about her to see how much she can take. They've done it before now its Kate's turn.

My post above is not directed to you Isabella but at Elspeth comment. It seem that we both posted at the same time.

I still can't believe Kate going to the spa is news! I agree with kaydura; the press has built her into the "Will's perfect princess" and soon she might not be perfect enough. It's sad really. People are either sickly fawning over you or they're tearing you apart. As to her being cunning, that's not exactly a bad thing. I think any royal girlfriend is. Mapping out her steps and trying to portray a good image.

I Agree about the Image thing, But in the long run I Belive shes ok William needs to calm down though as far as the Drinking goes Harry seems to have calmed down . Maybe they will both eventually settle into Army life , I Hope so . I Do not want the Monarchy to go "Byond the point of no return". :)

Unfortunately the more serious the relationship is with Prince William, the more everything she does will be news.

Just think of what Diana went through. She said many times she couldn't even get to her car. That is exactly what will be in store for Kate too. People love her, but at the same time can't wait for her to slip up and make a mistake. Kind of scary!

You have hit the nail on the head! :) Money cannot make you an aristocrat, the only way to become one is to marry or by birth. Before you get that far, you have to become upper class! :D
Even the middle classes have different levels, upper, lower and just middle. They tend to be based on what you or your parents earn or do for a living. It is a very complicated system but, some of the Lady's I know, are far from being Lady's and the most gentle woman deserving of the title, was just plain Mrs. :)

It is not a big deal of her going to a spa with pampering worth 500 pounds. Some of my friends do it. She probably does it once a month or whenever she feels like she wants to be pampered. Anyone in the public eye should do it.

Exactly. The make it seem like going to the spa is like jetting off to St. Tropez for the day. I just went to the spa today and I am nowhere near rich. I feel bad for Kate being scrutinized like that.

Kate is not at all like Diana. Much as I love Diana, I think Kate will have an easier time fitting into the royal scene. I have always had total trust in William's judgement, so I think that any woman he dates for well over (what's it been now? 3-4 years?) is someone who shares his good judgement.

I know Kate's "current events" may be thin on the ground, but filling the vacuum with speculation of a breakup based on nothing in particular is too much.

Monarch's Birthday Joy: Love Island Exclusive
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=16978350&method=full&siteid=94762&headline=monarch-s-birthday-joy--love-island--name_page.html

Hmm, I'm starting to wonder if the Mirror actually counts as a news source. But there's that story anyway.

Ugh! So sick of all the tabloids speculating that Prince William and Kate will get married. IF they do indeed someday getting married (which i don't think will happen b/c he is too young and probably won't marry his first serious girlfriend)---then we will know. I know the papers have to write something, but this is getting ridulous, everyday there is more speculation about an engagement. The press should let them be, they can write about their relationship all they want, but when it comes to marriage they should stop speculating on something they don't know anything about.

I especially like this statement -

William has searched for a villa that will give them privacy on the Caribbean island, which is popular with celebrities and attracts photographers.

Do you think William told them or do you, like me think that once again this awful tabloid has made it up.

Made it up, probably. I don't think Prince William called them and said "Hey, I am looking for a villa, could you write about it so that real estate agents would look for some?".

Well, I don't think royals call them up, and let them know when and where they will be.:D

But I think that they probably know some hot spots that have been popular celebs, and so they keep their eyes on those spots. Many times they see that the some reservations have been made by the royal family recently, and so starts the "secret source" drama. :)

Well do the papers honestly think PW is going to go to a place that attracts so many photographers. I mean the guy likes his personal life so be kept on the down low.

In my opinion to this all, is simply that Prince William has I am sure discussed the paparazzi issues with Kate, but I have a strong feeling she will not be able to handle this and may just break down. I do not believe it matters if she takes a bus or not, she is not of royalty yet, and yes she should set a good example but it will take time. You cannot just expect someone who was never been brought up behind the royal doors to wake up one morning and act that way. I think everyone is being very hard on this situation and many others, we are too preoccuppied with their lives that we don't even think of our own.

He went to Belize during his gap year, so that may be the place they may be heading--if they are heading anywhere.:)

A Romantic Break For William and Kate...and Jecca?!

Prince William is due to fly off for a Caribbean holiday with his girlfriend Kate Middleton.....and ex-girlfriend Jecca Craig. But don't worry, it's all above board as Jecca has been invited by Kate, shattering reports of recent years that the Prince's current girlfriend felt threatened by William's continued friendship with his ex.

William and Kate also holidayed earlier in the year with Jecca she hosted them at her families place, maybe they are just returning the favour, taking her for a holiday- though I bet it's not just the three of them- maybe Jeccas boyfriend or some other palsof theirs are comming too? that would makemore sense
