They left the hospital half an hour after the press conference, according to VG.

I think it is a nice way of doing it - I heard some on VG's discussion forums complaining about them leaving so quickly, and not out the front - but the same people would be complaining about it if she had stayed a few more days as well, and accused Mette-Marit for wanting attention if she went out the front, I suspect.

Security and everything else must be much easier to take care of at Skaugum.

I hope it too, but it could be like it was with Indrid Alexandra.

Congratulations and welcome to the world, little Prince!

Congratulations to the proud parents, the Royal Family and the people of Norway! All the best to the new prince and his family, I wish him and the family all the best for the future! This is really great news!!!

congratulations to the royal family of norway!

wow! everything was so quick! i was expecting mm to stay in the hospital for a few days, as it happened with maxima, mathilde, mary and letizia, but actually everything was so quick that we didn't even have time for the photos of people visiting... :) i think this is the best way to do it... no expectation created and that always makes things easier...

do you know when the name of the prinsen will be announced? can't wait...

When we can will see little prince?Monday?

If it's the same with Ingrid Alexandra, there'll be a photo session with the crownprincely family inside skaugum, followed by an interview couple of days later.

but, i hope they release photo of the little prince soon.

Could someone who speaks Norwegian translate the interview when it's done? That would be so great!

The Crown Prince mentioned it in the Press Conference that he would try to give the public some private photos, as it was with Princess Ingrid Alexandra. But he couldn't promise when, but I guess we will see some of his photos tomorrow or on Monday.

Congratulations to the Royal Family, I'm very glad to hear that they are already at home...!

What happy news! I think it is lovely that they have another boy. I also love that after both IA and this baby's births CPHaakon has talked about taking time for some "calm time" with the baby. Maybe because I envision(ed) them just hunkering down for a cozy winter and focusing on everyone adjusting to a new family member -- it sounds so beautiful.

aw, the norwegian family is so laid back. mm went to the hospital at 10 gave birth, haakon did the interview and then 5 hours later they both went home again without creating much distubance or expectation of the press. on monday we will know the name and the photos won't be any kind of "posing photos" (most probable) but they will be real intimate and private photos, as haakon said he will try to and as it happened with ingrid. i just love things that run smoothly and this event did. hope every single couple did the same and we didn't have to wait so much for news on the labour, to know the name, to see photos...
congratulations again to the norwegian royal family for making things so easy and normally!

also, in the interview with the press, haakon was so sincere and that is really appreciated (who appart from him of the princes have told us that they went just both of them together to the hospital and how much he liked it, that the birth was painful...?) i think it was really nice that he actually shared his experience and not just say "we are really happy" as everyone does?

...agree.
Opps, i pressed return rather too quickly!:)

Here's just some images to remind us what happen when Princess Ingrid Alexandra is born back in early 2004... hopefully they'll do the same.

a close-up photo by daddy, CP Haakon

Here's what was posted by Joris on SRMB from Haakon's press conference :

Some more details he said:
- King will return from Copenhagen asap.
- Baby's hair is light (blondé), the eyes are blue.
- They didn't know the gender of the embryo before. They wished to be surprised. A girl would also have been equally nice. Marius is already a boy, so he knew what it was to have a boy around the house.
- They will receive visitors of course: the most close relatives will come.
- They already receive unbelievably many congratulations.
- Ingrid Alexandra got the news from Dad through the phone...
- They would have expected the child c. one week ago. So it's a little later than expected.
- The fact that the little prince is born in the Jubilee Year is sheer co-incidence. But it's nice that the continuity of the Norwegian Monarchy can be seen here too. But as said, it's more a co-incidence. A little later and it would have been 200SIX.

I agree with your post completely, Carlota! It made me think through the other royal births this year and how they were handled. One of the funniest comments, I thought, was when CP Frederik was asked something to the effect of 'did you cry at the birth?' and he replied 'well it's not exactly the time to act like superman.' I'm very happy all these new little folks are here now and they are all healthy -- what a great gift! ....and what an exciting year!
